Harry certainly didn’t seem nervous when he grabbed the mike and gave us a full-on attack as to why the Tote shouldn’t be sold – including dealing with a heckler from the audience. He’d have a career in stand up.

"Denman walks into a bar, and the bartender says, ‘hey, why the long face?’ Thankyew, I’m here all week laddiesangennulmen!!!"

December 3, 2008 at 17:48 #194077That’s not very funny, becuase Denman actually responded with "Well it’s my ticker, you see…".

Maybe it should be
"Denman walks in to a bar, says "OUCH", "are you still on board Sam ?"
December 3, 2008 at 18:17 #194088"Denman walked into a bar – only coz Sam couldn’t control him (again)"

February 8, 2009 at 02:16 #10201HF was interviewed on ATR and stated that he was concentrating on his Scoop 6 selections today in the hope that the Bonus of £2m wasn’t won today and he might be in to win it next week. I wonder if he was one of the five running on the final leg. Sadly, no winners this week of either the bonus or Scoop 6. By the time the bonus is won I reckon it could be close on £3m and will probably be won by dear old pensioner Mrs. Duckworth having her very first flutter.

Harry was last seen visiting his local bingo hall. There were nine tickets running, and I reckon five belonged to Mr Findlay judging by the pool patterns; I’m amazed it wasn’t won given that 251 tickets survived after 4 legs. More for us next week I hope!
February 8, 2009 at 14:59 #208892Agree with Rory in the surprise it wasn’t won yesterday.
It was interesting watching Lady Jane Digby, the bonus horse, on Betfair – it looks as though the syndicate had the insurance going as it was being heavily laid.
Can’t say I blame them though!!

Very interesting looking at the amounts available to back in running at various prices (and what those prices were) put up by the winning syndicate as insurance.
February 8, 2009 at 19:15 #208963I think all these syndicates destroy the integrity of the Scoop 6 and always prefer it when a lone individual wins it, it has much more merit attached even if randomly chosen, as in Mrs Haddock’s case.

I hope to jeebus you’re taking the wee-wee, UM
February 8, 2009 at 19:40 #208971not at all….what’s wrong with the £2 punter who picks his own out and comes up trumps?…
not long ago I recall a gentleman who won it and when interviewed on C4 he said his young daughter picked a couple of them out.
I find this more encouraging and part of the fun of it, rather than hear of some large syndicate being all very clever with thousands to invest, and able to cover most options…Rory
February 8, 2009 at 20:08 #208977Completely agree with Ugly Mare here. Would much rather a £2 punter won the money than a big syndicate staking thousands.
HF, or other large syndicates winning the money, would appreciate there "fortune" far less than Mr Duckworth who had his normal £2 bet. It would be life changing to the £2 punter…it would be a good day at the office for a large syndicate. Thats just my view though. It would change my life were my £2 line come up…and that of my missus, my mother, father, brother, etc.

Good point. Next time I have a go I’m going to write out 5000 separate tickets. If I win I can pretend to be a ‘Mr Duckworth’, though hopefully I won’t have a heart attack.
February 9, 2009 at 01:01 #209045Just finished reading Dave Nevison’s book, "A Bloody Good Winner". It was a real page turner, and in there it became apparent the "big hitters" take these "fun" bets deadly seriously. He sees an elusive "really big" Scoop6/Jackpot win as his retirement fund. I must say I always saw these best as mug bets but maybe I need to start taking a bit more heed. Though he does say if you do them or the placepot and usually get 3/6 (as opposed to his regular 5/6) then probably not a good idea to do them!
February 9, 2009 at 02:18 #209061Although the cash is always nice, the satisfaction of picking your own £2 line would live with you forever.
I remember having done my brains one day and having a forecast on the dogs3&5 @ 80/1 with my last quid, only for a friend to laugh and say i’d left out the 4 another longshot . Finding a solitary 20p in my pocket i placed a straight tricast 435 . i happily watched as the 2 short priced ones collided at the first bend and the race finished 435, i picked up over £130 thanks to a 200% bonus for the tricast being over 400/1.
The money was very nice but there was no satisfaction. - AuthorPosts
