It seems Lisa Nandy has no intention of following Welsh Labour’s ban.
March 1, 2025 at 22:21 #1721661A welcome article putting the case for the sport and more. Just a pity it is in a niche online magazine rather than a national newspaper.
March 1, 2025 at 22:36 #1721663If racing gets banned everywhere it will be the end of greyhounds as a breed as no one would go out of their way to buy a greyhound puppy. Ex racers are a different matter. All the hard work has been done (and, believe me, sighthound puppies are hard work). Whippets and greyhounds are probably the only breeds today that look exactly as they did hundreds of years ago and have been bred to be fit and healthy. You won’t get a better canine companion than either of them and they’re great for older people like me that can’t walk to exercise them as much as we used to ( they will sleep for most of the day if you let them).I know it’s selfish of me but I’d really miss taking my whippet on the several greyhound walks that we go on each year.
March 1, 2025 at 23:15 #1721668Apparently greyhound is the only dog breed mentioned in the Bible (couldn’t tell you where or in what context though)!
March 1, 2025 at 23:21 #1721669Yes it’s to be expected in this parish but it does seem to have united left and right for once!
March 2, 2025 at 10:22 #1721695Looks like in NZ Greyhound racing is going to fight ban in court and one of the angles is fatality rate less than horse racing. It is so it wont look good .
March 3, 2025 at 00:26 #1721749“Many times, the Bible makes reference to dogs in general, but the Greyhound is the only breed referenced. (Proverbs 30:29-31, King James Version): “There be three things which do well, yea, Which are comely in going; A lion, which is strongest among beasts and Turneth not away from any; A greyhound; A he-goat also.”
