Pineau De Re, Tiger Roll (2019) and Noble Yeats all had three week gaps between their Cheltenham runs and National wins, so it isn’t impossible for any of last week’s runners to come here and run a big race.
I’ve committed to six now and hope to leave it at that… unless one of my many other fancies is available at 100/1 seven places on the day

VanillierMarch 16, 2025 at 07:10 #1724190Given how impressively Inothewayurthinkin won the Gold Cup, I’d make him hot favourite to repeat it next year. As big as the Grand National is, I’d rather have a dual Gold Cup winner than a Gold Cup and Grand National winner, personally. I doubt he’ll run.
Half the forum seem to be on Minella Cocooner from way out and I’ve now joined the club. I don’t quite understand the market weakness given he has quite obviously been trained for this. 40s EW 6 places with SkyBet.
March 16, 2025 at 09:21 #1724200I can see the angle of the Cocooner as he’s a spring horse and Mullins has been taking the Michael all winter with gentle rides in grade 1s , those that fancy intense raffles ( I’ve played as such) should see that Minella finished 4 lengths behind Raffles giving him 8lbs in the Irish GN , now weighted to just about beat him however I just think at 7 Raffles has a good chance of still improving
March 16, 2025 at 18:16 #1724248Minella Cocooner is worse off with Intense Raffles in the National.
March 16, 2025 at 19:10 #1724251He isn’t Mike , Raffles had 11 4 in the Irish GN , Minella carried top weight , he’s got a few lbs back
March 16, 2025 at 19:35 #1724253Apologies I thought you was referring to the recent run in the Bobbyjo. Minella is 6lb worse off with Intense Raffles from that race.
March 16, 2025 at 20:20 #1724254Must be quite a big negative that Townend will either be on the defending champ or Nick Rockett at Aintree? Cant see Minella Cocooner being his pick either way. Which jockey would you all want on him if not Townend?

March 18, 2025 at 12:04 #1724343Would have been 15 lbs well in, reassessed as a 175 horse after Cheltenham. The horses welfare is the main thing though and unlucky to punters who were on him antepost. Leaves the race very open, only had a cursory glance through the other day and nothing jumped off the page to me.
In fact I’m starting to think that the defending champion just wins again even lumbered with top weight. He’s only physically going to carry 6lbs more than last year even though he’s gone up 8lbs in the handicap. Its just about whether anything he’s giving weight to is thrown in but I don’t think this years race looks any better than last years and he won it very easily.
