Well done those with 80-1 on Iwilldoit. I didn’t have that opportunity. I’m still happy with my 50-1 though + I’m still very confident

February 6, 2024 at 13:53 #1680133A few notable absences, but just as many intriguing names in there. My search for an accompaniment with Kitty’s Light goes on, but of the ones entered I’d be most interested in…
Chemical Energy – clearly being laid out for this
Eldorado Allen – isn’t short of class, mark might be a touch high
Fiddlerontheroof – surprised to see him, but fancied in 2022
Galia Des Liteaux – very promising run last time
Minella Indo – could be really well treated
Vanillier – big fancy, but the price has goneI’ll likely wait for the weights before committing again as I’ve already thrown enough away. Wouldn’t want more than 4, really.
February 6, 2024 at 14:42 #1680137Panda Boy was 66’s now as short as 16’s in places. We started the Pandwagon on this thread when he was that big price. He’ll be there at the business end IF he can get in. Hoping the UK handicapper adds a pound or three.
The dark horse is the 7yo pointer/hunter half brother to Monbeg Dude in Its On The Line from your man Emmet. Was not expecting to see him in there at all.
Not sure if the rule about not being able to run in the National if they run in a Hunter Chase in the same season is still a thing. He hasn’t done that yet, he’s just gone in points so far this season. A watch this space horse.
February 6, 2024 at 15:35 #1680140The rule still applies KendalCavalier – see point 14 of the below https://rules.britishhorseracing.com/#!/book/34/chapter/s3395-running-requirements-code/content?section=s3400-additional-requirements-for-hunters-steeple-chases&keyword=Hunter.
It’s not entirely clear if it still applies to hunter chasers that took place in Ireland, though it would seem logical.
February 6, 2024 at 16:24 #1680148For what it’s worth when utilising the current Irish marks; the 34th horse is currently rated 147. The 55th horse (last year’s number 34) is rated 144. Obiously the handicapper will have his say, and these things aren’t uniform year-on-year, but it’s always worth a look when gauging likely runners.
February 6, 2024 at 16:24 #1680149They still doing that thing where they declare the weights weeks in advance and before the Fez? (I know they are, just wanted to sigh about it).
With no Tiger Roll or Any Second Now involved, which connections will throw a mardy about getting too much weight this year?
No Galliard du Mesnil, which is interesting. Must be done for the season.
Hoping that the former Durham National winner listed above will take up the engagement. Would be a sight that.
February 6, 2024 at 16:31 #1680154Chemical Energy is rated 147. Despite the lower number of runners this year he should get in and run off a very lowly weight. Minella Indo is only 10 lbs higher, a possible weight of around 11-00 wouldn’t bother him much.
Is Noble Yeats with 166 the highest rated horse among the entries?
February 6, 2024 at 16:42 #1680156Hewick is the highest rated at 167.
February 6, 2024 at 16:47 #1680157Thanks Peter. I’m just trying to anticipate how they’ll be rated. With 61 Irish entries I would think there will be no disadvantages towards them. No complaints expected, I guess.
