I liked how Beshabar ran too. He is a very reliable stayer. I think he is much better on quicker ground so today was extra impressive with a bit of juice.
Unless the handicapper gets spiteful on Beshabar or it comes up soft in April, it will take a special performance from something else to overthrow him at the top of my Grand National fancies.

Totally agreed. Stayed on really well, impressive, even moreso if reports of lameness are true.
November 27, 2011 at 00:39 #379873That lameness is a big worry with Beshabar already having missed a season and been so lightly raced in his career. I’ll be keeping a very close eye on Tim Vaughan’s blog in the next couple of weeks.
November 27, 2011 at 02:20 #379878I read Planet Of Sound, second in the Hennessy might also be aimed at the national, although no one seems to have him yet in their books. Arbor Supreme another aintree vetran was also out today for new trainer Jonjo O’ Neill but he’s not enjoyed the best of luck at Liverpool.
What do people make of these two?
November 27, 2011 at 09:12 #379896I’ve always been very sweet on Planet of Sounds stable companion From Dawn To Dusk, but he had to miss the race last season due to injury. They both seem like very similar individuals, but i suppose what’s keeping me off him for the moment is that old case of ‘i’ll believe it when i see it’. That encouraging run yesterday might just give him new reasons to go to Cheltenham and Punchestowns and go for Aintree in 2013…
November 27, 2011 at 09:12 #379897EDIT: double post
November 27, 2011 at 16:26 #379947SHAME ON THE LIKES OF PADDY POWER [/color:3hp1vxok] i’VE JUST BEEN IDLING GOING THROUGH THEIR ANTE POST MARKET FOR GRAND NATIONAL 2012 AND SEE MON PARRAIN AT 40/1.
NOW I KNOW AND ACCEPT THE RISKS OF ANTE POST BUT I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A SMALL CHANCE OF WINNING NOT ZERO BEFORE THEY EVEN ACCEPT MY BET. SURELY THEY SHOULD REALISE HE WILL BE SIX IN APRIL AND THEREFORE EXCLUDED.
November 27, 2011 at 20:19 #379964If you make a bet and it is impossible for you to win, then your stake will be refunded RedRum77. Those are the rules of gambling. Anyone who bets Mon Parrain in the National is entitled to a refund.
Im sure you’re aware of that but hopefully others will be too.

I actually thought that the rules of Ante Post betting was they all in whether they run or not, with the exception of those balloted out.
Mon Parrain up to they amended that minimum age rule could have ran, but now is excluded even if they wanted him to run and Paddy Power and any other whose has him in the betting should remove him at once.
I don’t say this for my sake because I know that he can’t run until 2013 but someone might fancy him without realising that he forbidden to run in the 2012 event.
November 28, 2011 at 10:02 #379992Bookmakers are not above making errors, in the days of smoke-filled haze I rang Ladbrokes trading room and pointed out that they were offering 80/1 on a tie in an NFL playoff game outright, which is also an impossibility. 10 minutes of trying to explain the rules of the game later, I came to the conclusion the person would have quoted odds on sheep racing on Mars if I had asked.

I "bet" if you had placed a bet on that result they’ve would have taken your money, and not offer a refund when you explain that it can’t happen.

P.S. Are you positive a tie in NFL is impossible and not just highly improbable which can happen even if its say a million to one shot.
November 28, 2011 at 10:49 #379999In the playoffs all matches are played until there is a winner. Ties in the regular season are increasingly uncommon as well, the last occurring in 2008 between Cincinnati and Philadelphia.
November 28, 2011 at 12:08 #380012Numerous bookies on Easyodds still quote Mon Parrain. I emailed Easyodds pointing out the error and got this response:
Hi There,
Thanks for your feedback about Mon Parrain.
While are correct about the new rules, some of our partners are still pricing up Mon Parrain so we will continue to display odds for him as long as this is the case.
If you have any other questions please feel free to get in touch.
Regards,
Simon
November 28, 2011 at 12:19 #380014In my book this is like having a 4 year old in the Derby (or should that be 2 year old).
The rules would just not include it.
November 28, 2011 at 13:11 #3800174 year olds in the Derby, Running Rein of course although Little Wonder in 1840 was almost certainly of that age but due to his small stature his trainer got away with it, his owner being oblivious to the subterfuge.

I could be totally wrong here, so forgive me. Still I think I remember reading on Racehorse Memories that From Dawn To Dusk was retired because of that injury.
