Nor1, there’s a world of difference between clearly pointing out the – rather straightforward – change of heart in licensing Bradley for one, charity race, and doing what Grauniad Wood does.

He goes on about it, repetitively and at length, nagging away at the same point from fifteen different angles, and doing it a lugubrious, holier-than-thou, sanctimonious style suggesting his own moral superiority.

If this is the kind of invertebrate maundering that you think’s "good for racing", then alas I must part company with you. One thing I’ve learnt in this life, is never to mistake sententiousness for seriousness. Mr Wood gets a starred first in the former, and hardly a bare pass in the latter. Yuk!

I don’t believe it’s good for racing to allow proven corrupt individuals back, even for one race, and regardless of it being for charity. There are other retired jockeys who could have ridden instead.
Surely, any criticism about this decision is not moral superiority. Where is the line drawn in what is acceptable and what is not? Is there a line?

So if a guy steals a Mars Bar out his local shop he should be banned from shopping for the rest of his natural days?

If you commit a crime and do the time that’s the end of it. Otherwise why not just burn everyone at the stake that steps out of line?

Brad was just one of hundreds of jockeys who had punters but he got caught.

If you think about it how many jockeys riding do you think don’t have close friends who like a punt? If you had a good mate would you tell him when you fancied one? wouldn’t have many mates if you didn’t.

There just nothing real about beleiving jockeys keep everything to themselves and anyone who think they do needs a brain transplant.

If the BHA hunted down every jockey who has told a punter at sometime in his career to have a few quid on there wouldn’t be enough jockeys left riding to have a 3 horse race once a week at Sedgefield.

I was very impressed with Mr Swan yesterday. If you didn’t know who the jockeys were you would bet 10 on he was a pro riding against amateurs. Perhaps if he had made his comeback that time to take the Brave Inca ride things could have been so different!

Overall, I enjoyed watching some of the jockeys back riding and think it is a fantastic idea – if only they could raise the legends bar a small bit higher!

A view that is somewhat at odds with Fist’s:

    Where was Dermot Browne?

Is he still warned off. Good jockey on his day just a tad corrupt.

    LOL
