Surprised nobody’s mentioned this. Have we all become so jaded with warned off individuals being nothing of the sort that this sort of thing now goes without comment?

Racing once again showcases itself for what it is. Is Scotney turning up to present the prize?

Quality jockey on his day … great horseman … fabulous autobiography (Wayward Lad), if only for the naive transparency of his constant protestations of innocence which ran as a thread through the whole book … I remember the day he rode Starjestic to victory at Southwell after a famously injudicious ride on the same horse on his previous outing at the same course … he returned to the unsaddling enclosure to a loud chorus of boos and promptly gave the V sign to the gathering crowd … hilarious :D

    A most unsavoury individual.

    What depressing news.

    Ditto Venusian

…for charidee, so that’s okay then

The trip down Charity Avenue has been a route many a miscreant has used in order to gain a veneer of respectability and/or absolution…but in truth… :?

those eyes, that smile, the weasel words…shudder

Shame he was such a good and ‘clever’ horseman

    that

    ride on Suny Bay

I was expecting some big bucks for charity here, but reading the Racing Post it looks like the jockeys are each collecting circa 1-2k. That would be a rounding error for Bradley’s punters back in the day!

    Explain yourself Mr Struthers!

Why was Bradley’s participation presented as a

    fait accompli

and why did you stand for it? Who is orgainising this event and why did they consider Bradley in any way suitable?

Give us one good reason to conclude that the sport isn’t in total disarray on the integrity front at present.

It’s probably just a communication problem, Glenn. No more, no less.

With any large organisation I suppose it must be difficult to co-ordinate all the different departments and decsion-makers. Now, just remind me please…does the BHA have anyone in charge of communications?

This leads on to the Am I Blue incident, I think. The Stewards made a decision that foul play was not suspected. Normally one would expect that to be the end of the matter.

However, within a couple of hours someone decided that this was a matter for the Integrity Department to investigate. To my mind that suggests someone was unhappy with the Stewards take on matters. Who was that person and what prompted them to review matters?

Was it a subjective opinion based on their reading of events or were they operating from a formal procedures checklist (i.e. market moves, poor previous form, jockey change etc?)

If, in fact, their actions were not prompted by external influences (e.g. pundits etc.) but by a recognised and normal protocol then the question I ask is, why did the Stewards not have access to a similar set of procedures whereby they could be justified in formally passing the matter on to the B.H.A.?

What we have now is a situation whereby the Stewards appear, for all intents and purposes, to have taken their eye off the ball when in actual fact they were not given the ball to play with in the first place.

Surely, it would avoid this public fiasco of one aspect of the BHA seemingly out of sync with another. They need to be singing from the same hymn sheet. Whether or not that falls under the heading of communication is for others to decide.

Surely we have to take a stand on this. If he’s being allowed back purely on the basis of gathering a grand or two for charity, then surely he will have to make way for anyone that can raise more than him. What we need is an anti-corruption candidate. A Martin Bell figure, who we can all pledge donations to on the understanding that he/she takes Bradley’s place.

    WANTED

A jockey, or someone capable of riding, available next Wednesday to ride in the Lester Legends race for the anti-corruption alliance. Ability in the saddle less important than your profile inside or outwith the sport: legendary status preferable.

Will somebody please put themselves forward.

I nominate Nathan Hughes. His friend Natalie tells me he’s great in the saddle…..or was it sack?… I can’t remember now.

I would like to nominate Brian Storey, whose exemplary character and record over jumps in the North landed him a job as a part-time starter with the Jockey Club on his retirement from the saddle.

Have you ever sat on a horse Glenn?

    This could be your moment….

It’s a question that’s often asked and sadly the number of horses I’ve sat on is zero.

I would struggle to do the wieght in any case.

I was wondering why The Rabble are bringing in new punter friendly  overweight rules and I fear that they were pre-empting any notions of a crash riding course by myself.

Apologies, I was going on what was written on the eve of Storey’s retirement by soon-to-be HWPA Racing Journalist of The Year Doug Moscrop:

On closer inspection, it may have to be someone with Glenn’s unblemished character.

    :) :?:

Long liked the Green man and find his knots fairly easy to unravel

    North Country Storeys

I have no intention of defending Bradley, but can’t help but think of him as a wasted talent.
In my view he was a very talented , stylish jockey, but an even more inspired judge of an animal as some of his dealings as a bloodstock agent highlight.
There was always something that gnawed away at you that made the end result almost inevitable in his case

Mike Cattermole and Lee Mottershead both

    applauded

the BHA’s decision to allow Graham Bradley to ride on ATR this afternoon. Tim Adams of the Leger Legends Committee seemed equally content.

Quite astounding really, not least because it was claimed that ‘common sense’ had prevailed.

We’ll have Bruce Grobbelaar refereeing the Champions League final next.

What could one expect after Tony Blair was appointed "Peace Ambassador To The Midle East"?
