He has had too many chances and there always seems to be ‘something’ given as an excuse for his continued poor runs – at times he has been nigh on unrideable and for me he simply can’t be trusted until he shows he is able to put back to back solid runs together.

Outside of his juvenile season he has had one run in 8 where he has looked potentially top class (when beating Song For Someone who was giving him 6lbs in the Kingwell Hurdle) even if you assume that was as good as Song For Someone is (a big if) that is still a long way off being even a Champion Hurdle outsider.

The law of averages suggest that at some point he could very well turn up for a race on a real going day where the stars align and he could spring a big surprise but he will most likely have lead his supporters off every large cliff that can be found beforehand and anyone still with him if he does come up trumps, I will glady doff my cap to you and say well deserved.

I vaguely remember Desert Orchid badly losing his form over hurdles for a few races early in his career.

    And so it begins!

As predicted earlier in the thread, the “next big thing” with Goshen will be “he was always going to be better as a chaser!”

The likes of me will be sorry and hang our sarcastic heads in shame when Goshen has won, say, an Arkle, two Champion Chases, three King Georges plus a Cheltenham Gold Cup for good measure!

Excellent. If the rain comes I’m happy with my chances.

I consider myself one of TTC’s biggest fans, but his faith in Goshen borders on the religious.

They ought to keep him off the course until at least next season. As has been mentioned by plenty in here, he’s clearly not right in himself. Otherwise, we’ll be looking in the Memorials forum to mourn for him after he takes a reluctant fall in a big-field handicap he shouldn’t really be in.

It was Soft when Goshen was winning the Triumph and Heavy when he did win at Wincanton.

Currently Good at Kempton and, having got beaten 18 lengths off 153 at Ascot, I would venture to suggest Goshen has two hopes – Bob Hope and no hope – of conceding 7lb to 153-rated Epatante on Boxing Day.

If it’s Heavy again at Wincanton on February, and if he’s in his happy place in his horsey head – and if nothing that’s much cop shows up to take him on – he can win a race this season.

I obviously hope that the horse is well. However , after this amount of terrible , inconsistent performances , there are serious doubts ?.
This is my original point , i.e. should he not be tried elsewhere , at a more successful / alternative stable ?

Gary Moore has sent out seven winners in the last fortnight alone.

I’d say his yard IS successful, actually.

The right decision. Would never be soft enough for the Mighty Cthulhu on Sunday.

    All roads lead to Wincanton!

Me and TTC will be camped out there three days in advance with agricultural watering equipment we’ve nicked en route.

Doesn’t Gary Moore always have a good pre-Christmas campaign? Seem to remember it as being his method of giving his staff an excellent Christmas……………..Of course, I may have dreamt all that?!?!
