He needs to go right handed. What happened shudnt surprise anybody.
January 23, 2022 at 14:38 #1579494He is bonkers, I love owt like that though. I bet he only sleeps to the right of his stable.
Think they may as well aim for Wincanton and then the Ces. He should be happy enough against the rail there without the option for run diagonally to the right.

January 23, 2022 at 14:46 #1579498One things for sure he,ll only win when he wants to , what a challenge for the Moore,s , they should hate him but I bet they love him to bits
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
January 23, 2022 at 18:31 #1579568Either it is a undiagnosed physical ailment or its a mental issue, one is fixable the other you simply either roll the dice and hope that at some point you make it to a race day where all the stars have aligned and he is on a going day (increasingly it is looking like those days are getting further and farther between) or you call it a day and find him something else to do outside of racing.
January 23, 2022 at 19:10 #1579573Goshen will be delighted to hear a dislike of bends is the latest excuse for his one win in umpteen starts since his Triumph fall.
I’m fairly sure Wincanton and Cheltenham have bends, but I am open to persuasion.
Any hurdle races over on Heavy ground over a straight 2m anywhere on the planet?
If so, that’s got to be the next move!

January 24, 2022 at 10:45 #1579636There’s plenty of room at Newmarket to run a straight 2 mile hurdle although soft would be as bad as it gets.
Goshen is the only entry………and still gets beat
January 25, 2022 at 09:13 #1579805He was always a lunatic
But in his 4yo season his lunacy hadn’t quite over taken his obvious ability to run as fast as he can for 2 miles and grind other horses into submission
Hes probably actually not very fast at all and is a 3 miler but because he’s absolutely bonkers he will never settle properly
Maybe going over fences would calm him down a little, though I cant imagine anyone would be rushing to ride him in his early schooling sessions

Is that why he fell at the last at Cheltenham when ten lengths clear in the Triumph?
Because he suddenly remembered he was at a left-handed track?
He’s won once since (Wincanton, Heavy) consequently many now think he needs a right-handed track (maybe even specifically Wincanton) and Heavy ground.
The reality is that for whatever reason he just hasn’t turned out the horse he looked like being in that Triumph.
The mother of all Cliff horses for any punters still following him.
I predicted ages ago “he will be better as a chaser” will be the next blind alley some will go down with him.

He won’t be a better chaser – his sire and my eyes tell me that. That will be the final time he doesn’t run right handed. If they go left again, Jamie Moore will end up twitching like Captain Darling.
I don’t understand for the life of me how he can be called “the mother of all cliff horses”. Anyone backing him on the nose at even stakes for every run of his life is in profit.

January 25, 2022 at 10:39 #1579819Apologies – I should have said “he’s become” the mother of all Cliff horses.
If you were in front on him before the Triumph, you’ve been steadily doing in the profit since.

January 26, 2022 at 00:06 #1579881I’d have thought Moore has an equine swimming pool and / or equine spa.
But if not then yes that may be worth a try Coggy.Value Is EverythingJanuary 26, 2022 at 00:15 #1579885Coggy- send him to Sandy Thompson. Not many trainers who can improve a horse like that.
January 26, 2022 at 06:36 #1579895Next stop has to be Wincanton for the race he won last year – the last time he actually won a race, btw – especially if it’s again Heavy.
But if that’s not a success maybe “he gets bored encountering the same thing twice” could be another in the Great Goshen Excuses Locker (which is getting pretty full up)?
If it’s something physical, like TTC says, it’s not funny, but I still like to think of Goshen as the intelligent raffish lazy horse who likes laughing at racing and living the life of Reilly at Moore’s inbetween not putting it in at the track.
Maybe, to buck his ideas up, they should sit him down and make him watch THAT episode of….no, maybe that’s going too far.

That’s his win for 2022. Same time next year?
February 5, 2022 at 13:56 #1581496He is back!
Maybe we ought to start asking what went wrong with Song For Someone, who looked reluctant to even start.
