Even if that’s the case Ginge and I see your point
I use to show off something chronic and do silly things to try and impress the opposite sex
however Elliott is not 18 years old.. He is not in the pub or at a social event
He is in charge of the yard and has to set an exampleGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
March 4, 2021 at 13:03 #1527051It probably (but not definitely) doesn’t matter who took the photo TWM. Am just thinking what could possibly influence Elliott to do something anyone should’ve known was wrong.
Value Is EverythingMarch 4, 2021 at 13:07 #1527053I don’t always agree with Rod Street but on this occasion I do agree with what he’s said regarding the perception of the sport, or to use the dreadful “in” phrase the optics :-
“Consumer research informs us that not quite as many people disapprove of horseracing, as those who approve of it, but the larger part of the population is neither for nor against racing.
On the basis that few of those for and against racing are unlikely to shift their position, our biggest long-term threat and opportunity sits in that ‘undecided’ category. This is where we have to focus our communications on how loved and cared for racehorses are.
It is a simple task to articulate but a monumental one to deliver, although I see enough passion, determination and commitment in this sport to help us achieve that objective.”
March 4, 2021 at 13:07 #1527054Totally agree it does not excuse his actions Nathan. Just looking for a possible reason in his own mind why he did this.
Value Is EverythingMarch 4, 2021 at 13:09 #1527055Personally, i think it really matters who took the photo. They too would have known that it was wrong but they’ve kept the image for over four years. If this is someone else still closely involved in racing, then we need to know.
March 4, 2021 at 13:12 #1527056Perhaps you’re overthinking Ginge and the man simply doesn’t have the decency and empathy expected of a normal human being.
It’s probably wrong to judge a person solely on their moral compass but from reports I’ve heard about the man his moral compass probably doesn’t exactly point due north.
March 4, 2021 at 13:13 #1527057If the horse in question is Morgan it will not have been 4 years ago Worzelwaywardlad as Morgan last ran June 2019

March 4, 2021 at 13:16 #1527058I’d also like to know whether the Rob James case was after Elliott’s?
Was Rob James present at the Elliott incident? (James rode a winner at Cheltenham for him, so very likely to be someone who’s done work at the Elliott yard).
Was Rob James copying Elliott?Value Is EverythingMarch 4, 2021 at 13:20 #1527059In his apology, Rob James says the video was taken in April 2016, so years before the date the Gordon Elliott photo was supposed to have been taken.
March 4, 2021 at 13:25 #1527061I stand corrected Nathan but my comments still apply, just change the timeframe
March 4, 2021 at 13:29 #1527062You’re probably right Paul, I’m just looking for possible alternatives even if those alternatives are less likely.
Value Is EverythingMarch 4, 2021 at 13:34 #1527064Thanks Illavium,
Two totally separate cases then. Makes it worse really. Impossible for us to say this is a one off.Value Is EverythingMarch 4, 2021 at 13:43 #1527065Yes, very concerning. Still haven’t heard anything about where that incident took place or who the unfortunate mare was.
March 4, 2021 at 13:53 #1527067Anyone with the slightest bit of decency would have told us who the unfortunate mare was. Even if she were unnamed at the time of the incident, which is highely unlikely.
The excuses afterwards, either from him or Rob James are worthless. No one bit of real regret to be found in their statements.
March 4, 2021 at 14:04 #1527068Hoping for a properly prepared, comprehensive, informative, statement tomorrow, clearing everything up, so we can begin to move on from all the speculation, concerns, and rumours.
Think I’ve got more chance of a threesome with Holly Willoughby & Kelly Brook.

Lydia’s nailed it again….
March 4, 2021 at 15:23 #1527074Excellent article Ruby.
Lydia has summed up in an extremely powerful message the thoughts and concerns contained not only within the 42 pages of this Thread but by all the disgusted and disillusioned posters across social media and within the whole of the racing industry.
If IHRB had anyone near as passionate about the sport and the welfare of racehorses on their panel as Lydia Gordon Elliott, Rob James and all those who ill treated horses in the past and got off so lightly would be quaking in their boots.
