I’m sure you are aware that Prohibit makes his seasonal debut tomorrow as he begins preparations for World Cup Night. A trappy little contest and others have a fitness edge, so not one to get too involved in as he will be straighter for the run.

Agreed Eclipse, there’s usually a hairs width seperating
Prohibit
and
Inxile
but the latter really should have the edge tomorrow!
February 22, 2012 at 18:09 #393041Poor old Jonibake,he waits 6 months to be robbed of a certain 40/1 winner last year and now loses the same bet this year before the season even starts at the measley odds of 3/1!
Personally Sylvstre and certainly his wife Vicky will be waking up this morning knowing their futures have become secured financially overnight, she will be arranging a shopping trip as I write!
I remember listening to Sylvestre trying to explain how he had riddenMachinist
to victory once at a BBQ at Dandys,I never understood a bloody word!It didn’t help that I was being distracted by a gorgeous looking brunette leading none other than
Bahamian Pirate
round the lunge area, not only was she absolutely brilliant with the beast who incidentally took a chunk out of my Black Shirt I was wearing, she could ride too,
Peace Offering
,
The Pirate
and a highlight for me at 25/1 up at Beverley one day,
Danzig River
,what P*ssed me off though was Dandy actually let my brother lead them back into the winners enclosure whilst I ‘Gods Gift to Women’ stood open mouthed at the cocky git! He still rattles me with that one to this day!
Never mind Joni, there’s always ‘Your’ horse to look forward too! When did you meet him Gord? I trained him last year and I hope you might have seen a difference in his public speaking since!
As for the bet – I wouldnt say it is lost at all. M Al Z has a string of over 300 horses this year and I think he will still ride plenty of winners for MJ. In fact if you look at what I wrote on the main thread, I actually predicted SDS would be riding for M Al Z this year. Ok so grabbing 3-1 doesnt look so smart now
but he is still priced at between 3’s and 4’s and I still think you will see him picking up good spares and riding the night meetings. You wrote him (and me) off last year don’t do it again just yet!

February 22, 2012 at 19:12 #393047Gord what races can you see SEVILLE,ST NICHOLAS ABBEY in this year. i think SNA can become a cup horse at Ascot. i know they got Fame And Glory but i think SNA is going to be a stronger stayer of the 2.The way he stayed on at Chester at a 1m5 was very impressive. And i am not sure what they do with SEVILLE
And in the Lincoln i like EDINBURGH KNIGHT at 16/1 he will be going to this race Crowley be on him and a horse that progress last year very well.
February 22, 2012 at 20:14 #393051After his scintiallating win in the Breeders Cup, my guess is he will be targetted at the Coronation and then the top middle distance races. Not sure they have many other options at that 1m 4f distance. As you say they already have the best stayer in Europe so will probably leave those races to F&G.
Is Seville still with them? Would be surprised if he hasn’t been sold.

February 22, 2012 at 21:37 #393064Darren I have backed 2 horses for this years Ascot Gold Cup,
St Nicholas Abbey
at 25/1,I was of the opinion he would follow in the footsteps of ‘Fame and Glory’ that was before he ran in the Breeders Cup and blew my idea out of the water! He’ll be King George trained this year imo! I have backed
Masked Marvel
too! As for that bloody
Seville
if I dont see him again it will be too soon! Nobody is more loyal to
their
horses than me but this fellow let me down time and time again and I have washed my hands of him.Having followed horses for nearly 30 yrs I can assure you very few end up in the bad book but he’s one of them! Watch him win the Gold Cup now!
February 22, 2012 at 21:46 #393065Joni are you on about Dandy or Sylvestre? As Sylv’s English is absolutely superb these days, his fav saying is ‘yes darling anything for you’ as for Dandy you’d be wasting your time trying to teach him anything!
No question he’s an absolute Genius with his horses,if he thinks one has half a chance of riding the 10lb rollercoaster he’ll ride with it,(Funfair Wane
)!
if not its offski,he’ll give everyone a fair crack though, human or horse! Genius absolute genius!February 22, 2012 at 22:40 #393080Its always difficult trying to gain the advantage over the Bookmaker when asessing a race Ante-Post style particularly a handicap, but my Number 1 rule is Trainers are creatures of habit and some are absolute masters at creating Smokescreens, unfortunately for the ‘Mug Punter’ they will drive themselves around in circles and fail to see the light through the fog.The appropriately named
Get me out of Here
is a horse who fits the bill perfectly, his shrewd trainer placed him superbly last season culminating in a sure fire victory in the county hurdle, the plan went 99% of the way to succeeding but the photo-finish went against him. This season It looks like Jon-Jo has targeted the Coral Cup rather than the County hurdle and I reckon he’ll get 11-10,the top weight being ‘Carlito Brigante’ on 11-12,it looks harsh on paper but this fellow has a touch of class.William Hills 12/1 wont last till the Weekend and come the day this fellow will go off a heavily backed 7/2fav!Watch this space!

£150 e/w 12/1 William Hills Coral Cup.

February 23, 2012 at 08:33 #393115KF: Knocking EW bet and horses for courses springs to mind with this brave one!
Eider Chase: Any thoughts? I have backed (although I do not rate the trainer) Mister Marker, like him a lot and think he cannot be out of the 3! Posh Bird is the danger off that lowly weight.
RP Chase: Money has been coming for both ours but Fruity O’Rooney generally shorter in the betting now, all Cannington Brook (was one of the 2 dangers) backers should hold their breath and wait to see what Mr Tizzard decides as he does not think the ground will be soft enough and may just come too soon

It didn’t last till lunchtime this morning!
Thankfully my mates Corals opened a book on the race today and go 12/1! Guess What? It wont last till the weekend!

February 23, 2012 at 17:24 #393222I thought you’d stopped putting up bets and were relying on your ante-post ones to get you out of trouble.
February 23, 2012 at 18:27 #393232Gord i had a bad start today in the bookies 5 bets all lose but my old friend NOCTURNAL AFFAIR won at 6/1 at Meydan and City Style in the last as well. What you think of NOCTURNAL AFFAIR i think he pick up a group race on the turf this year.Won the Portland handicap very well too.
