While you have got a good price about Hector’s Choice KF, he has been penalized for running good races without winning. His handicap mark looks too high. Not convinced the step up in trip will suit although given his style of running he could well trade at much lower odds in-running affording you a nice profit.
February 20, 2012 at 11:50 #392592just my opinion Eclipse but
Hectors Choice
is 2lb better off with ‘I’msingingtheblues’ for 2l over 2m5f,i think the 3m around Kempton will suit off a mark of 148 and he’s certainly got a bit of improvement in him having ran only half as many times as the Pipe horse, who on recent form is a good yardstick. So long as one of the top weights stays in I reckon 10-10 ish is a fighting weight, his whole profile ticks my boxes anyway!
February 20, 2012 at 12:12 #392597I had a look at his pedigree and he is very stoutely bred on the distaff side so he could well improve for the step up in trip. Mind he is 16lbs higher than his last winning mark so he could improve and still find himself at the mercy of more leniently treated runners.
Having only managed to find winners of this race whose name begins with R (an obscure coincidence that they both won the National in the same year), I may find it difficult to make a reasonable case for any of the field!February 20, 2012 at 15:08 #392618KF: Misses a couple of vital trends for me but I do like the horse having backed him last few times!
Take a peek at Fruity O’Rooneys last run, very unlucky not to win after saddle slipped and i think this one will give Hector a good race with Cannington Brook making up the tricast
February 20, 2012 at 15:49 #392626I.m currently snaffling all the 40’s and 38’s about
Hectors Choice
for Saturdays Racing Post Chase,he’s a major player at the weights, the forms solid and he once even gave weight to this ‘Riverside theatre’.Classy looking field should they all stay in!
Has the early bird caught the worm? First thing this morning there were 49 entries for Saturdays Racing Post Chase,I knew there was a lunchtime deadline and took a risk that
Hectors Choice
would be declared, thankfully he has and the field is now down to a mere 15,having taken the 14/1 with Stan James to 4 places I’d like to think I’m sitting pretty.Phillip Hobbs likes to run a decent sort in this and he’s holding the weights together with a couple more ‘Old Timers’in ‘Nacarat’ and ‘Deep Purple’,all 3 are very decent Chasers but like I’ve said my horse is still on the upgrade and getting plenty of weight!

Your horse
Fruity O Rooney
still leading going to the last in the SkyBet but as my picture clearly shows the saddles a slippin rapidly! Not so sure he would have won as the horse in the Dark Green with Red Stars who’s name escapes me was never off the bridle!
February 21, 2012 at 08:32 #392727Agreed but you never know LOL
I see PWise has gone for Medermit for the Ryanair
Good judge is that Tom Segal IMO

Tom Segal is as good a judge as his brother is an Actor! I mean a Martial artist!
Tom is like the rest of us,he reads as much opinion, form, stats the lot and concludes from that! No surprise he’s gone for one of only 2 horses that can win,the other beingSomersby
! Has he put up my
Sunnyhill Boy
for the Grand National yet? The 40/1 is long gone Tom!
February 21, 2012 at 11:10 #392750Have you had time to look at the bumper at Newbury yet? Horatio Hornblower will win a race soon, that’s a gimme!
Sadly one of my handicap ‘larger bets to be’ is out for the season, shame for the Keighley yard, Havingotascoobydoo was one to follow

Couldn’t agree more GDC,the winner
Shutthefrontdoor
was behind your horse initially, they then travelled alongside each other,AP started riding, your lad never moved a muscle and never at any stage got serious with
Horatio Hornblower
who ran on to such effect that had AP actually ridden him he’d have won.Fine big sort he is,he’ll make a Chaser too! Exciting prospect mate! I cant believe he’s not priced up for the Champion Bumper,I’d expect 14/1 myself!
February 21, 2012 at 12:42 #392765I have always backed Ante-Post,one has to have a disciplined attitude to succeed in this sphere as the highs are the highest you’ll get apart from winning the Scoop 6 but the lows can be Sickeners. Those who have read my ‘drivel’ (Where is reet hard?)over the past 3 years know I have had many major Ante-Post successes, incredibly my Sprinters have yielded the biggest profits..
Art Connoisseur 40/1
,
Fleeting Spirit 42’s 44’s
,
Evens and Odds 33/1
and
Prohibit 40/1
all inimitably documented on here!
However my finest hour has to be staying loyal toAlbertas Run
and backing him at 75’s all the way down to 25/1 for his first Ryanair victory, what a feeling,my 3yo daughters Rocking horse has been called Alberta for obvious reasons,he too has recovered from Injury when I lumped my 14 stone across his back and asked him for a big one! I asked Jon,Jo O Neill last week at Newbury if it was all systems go for the Ryanair,he never said a word, just smiled and gave me the thumbs up,that coming from Jon’Jo was like a resounding Yes!
Here lies the dilemma….AP kicks on 3 out and goes a length up on Rubi Light,Noble Prince and Realt Dubh still confidently held up in between Dom and Choc are just beginning to get serious on Somersby and Medermit,2 Out AP kicks the old boy and gets a big one,he’s a length up on Dom and Choc, the Irish still not pressing the buttons a mere 2 length behind, they all go to the last with winning chances Paul Carberry still showboating,Choc doesn’t get the best jump out of Medermit, not for the first time but he’s as tough as Teak,Dom gets a flyer from Somersby and he lands alongside the dual winner Bertie,Noble Prince is the first to crack,Carberrys goes from hero to zero as they hit the hill, its between AP,Dom and Choc all 3 can run up this hill, its a war of attrition,my head tells me Medermit,my gut feeling is Somersby but my heart would have me cheering home Albertas Run with tears running down my face should this scenario really occur! An 11yo hero of mine who owes me nothing!February 21, 2012 at 13:28 #392777Tres bon monsieur

Brings a smile a smile to the old ‘boat’ and warms the cockles

Know what you mean though as I followed See More and Fondmort blindly around Chelters and the old rogue Kalahari King might just be sitting in behind with his new jockey wondering WTF this is a machine
February 21, 2012 at 13:32 #392778Glad you think Realt Dubh will still be on the premises at the last Gord. Realt Dubh finding zero? He’s no Harchi
February 21, 2012 at 14:08 #392787Glad you think Realt Dubh will still be on the premises at the last Gord. Realt Dubh finding zero? He’s no Harchi

Tommy,he’d be a major player if he had a clear run at preparing for the race, like you say his form through ‘Noble Prince’
should
make him the 4/1fav! Some race though eh?
February 21, 2012 at 22:16 #392915I like NOBLE PRINCE in the ryanair had him at 10/1 AP in the Jewson last year in my ante post thread. And while he been beaten by Realt Dubh both times i felt he should of beaten him.And other thing in his favour is the CD having won over it last year. And he is a 2m5 horse and not a 2m horse what they done with him.
February 22, 2012 at 11:28 #392987As the thread has been started on the main page I thought I would state my position now on this years Jockey’s Championship.
I have just laid my biggest bet in years on SDS to win at 3-1.
This will come as no surprise to Gord but I really can’t see him being beaten this year. He will ride for Johnston, he will ride for Al Zarooni, he will get quality spares, he wants to win it and he will get less bans with the new rules.
Get on!!!!
Lay this off. Now!
February 22, 2012 at 14:20 #393014Poor old Jonibake,he waits 6 months to be robbed of a certain 40/1 winner last year and now loses the same bet this year before the season even starts at the measley odds of 3/1!
Personally Sylvstre and certainly his wife Vicky will be waking up this morning knowing their futures have become secured financially overnight, she will be arranging a shopping trip as I write!
I remember listening to Sylvestre trying to explain how he had riddenMachinist
to victory once at a BBQ at Dandys,I never understood a bloody word!It didn’t help that I was being distracted by a gorgeous looking brunette leading none other than
Bahamian Pirate
round the lunge area, not only was she absolutely brilliant with the beast who incidentally took a chunk out of my Black Shirt I was wearing, she could ride too,
Peace Offering
,
The Pirate
and a highlight for me at 25/1 up at Beverley one day,
Danzig River
,what P*ssed me off though was Dandy actually let my brother lead them back into the winners enclosure whilst I ‘Gods Gift to Women’ stood open mouthed at the cocky git! He still rattles me with that one to this day!
Never mind Joni, there’s always ‘Your’ horse to look forward too! - AuthorPosts
