Laddies Poker Two actually covered the 6 furlongs half a second faster than Starspangledbanner did. I think she has an excellent chance and feel she’s far more likely to head for the Golden Jubilee than the Kings Stand, although I wouldn’t mind hearing a bulletin regarding her health/targets!

Zarkava,Stop betting Trebles! Your knowledge is a match for anyone on here, one winner a week does me if its around 5/1,the bookies worst enemy is the single e/w punter who knows their stuff,i’m sure you know of one!

My only concern Tommy is that she beat Dandys well exposed Striking spirit at levels that day and he is another who excels on fast ground but he wouldn’t stand a chance in a proper Group 1.The likes of

    Delegator

    and

    Bated Breath

will test her imo.Tom she was working on the Al Bahathri a fortnight ago so was in good form up to then anyway.

I shall be cheering my old pal

    Collateral Damage

home tomorrow in Redcars 3,35pm mile handicap,he’s had breathing problems recently but he did show a hint of a return to form last time out at Catterick finishing just behind the very reliable Advanced,a repeat of that and he has to be placed at worse, this fellow has ran against much better horses than this lot in his day.

    Collateral Damage

    £100 e/w 11/2 William Hills 3,35pm Redcar tomorrow.

KF: What can I say :D you are a true genius!

Just back from the Derby and had a very enjoyable and profitable week-end. I have certain rules that i stick to due to my stakes laid out and the main one is to not back under 7/2 unless in doubles/trebles.

The highlight of the day for me was Captain Dunne and what a superb price he was, snaffled up 6s (whish i thought was good value), then 7s and even got £40 at 15/2. I had already backed Confessional as i like to follow Pricewise in big sprints BUT i failed to do the FC, too much beer i’m afraid!

One of the guys i was with got a tip for the winner in the 1st (Sylvester Kirks horse won at 9s) so that set us up for a great day anyway.

Yet again the 2nd race got the better of me, happily i only laid out £60, i’ve deffo learnt my lesson there! I allowed the trends to put me off Kevin Ryans horse EW too!

Premio Loco was far too short for me so I opted for the only other viable winner (Rio de la Plata EW at 9/2) but that never looked like winning either.

Captain Dunne was very brave, from where i was up in the Household Division Marquee on the Downs he looked like he was passed by a couple but fought back very bravely indeed.

The Derby is best forgotten, although I had Carlton House EW at nice prices what may have been had he not lost a shoe in the last 50 yards and the injury scare the week-end before, never mind was a good race to watch.

Life and Soul ran OK but found little, i was also on the ‘trends’ horse Berling but again he showed his temperament and maybe Eddie did not give him the best of rides but backed at 9s EW so not a total wipeout.

Final race I was large EW on Firebreak and also had a small EW on Olynard. Whilst placing my bet the bookie i had been chatting to about his biggest losers of the day said Swiss Cross will be by miles, seems the whole course is on it, so dug out a £40 and covered the stakes for that race so another good return.

Overall, trends again provided several decent returns for me and made for an excellent ‘betting’ day as well as a superb day out ‘suited and booted’!! Thankfully there was a nice breeze on the downs!

Thanks again for Captain Dunne, my mates all say ‘cheers’ too :D

Great stuff GDC,you cant beat a day at the races, particularly when there’s class horses on display.

    Strike up the band

was dissapointing but i wasn’t too surprised,he’s taken a downward spiral whereas

    Captain Dunne

    has got better with age.

    Seville

has left me scratching my head,i look forward to his next engagement.Get your money on

    Victoire de Lyphar

for the Wokingham,i put him up a couple of days ago knowing the 16/1 with Corals will go as soon as they read this, they still go 12/1 now,he’ll shorten further!

KF: I shall back VDL today. I have already backed Group Therapy (50s) and Prohibit 25s both EW for the Kings Stand. I am going to stick with Group Therapy as i know Mr Barron will get the best out of him one day, he only needs to set off level and he will make em all go with his finishing kick. That’s the plan anyway :D

I love the races but since i’ve relocated from London to North Yorkshire i miss all the decent race tracks. Catterick is my local and not the best in the world but like Epsom it doesn’t take long to realise what trainers target the course and what ones are there for a day out!!

Couple for you to comment on please:

St James’ Palace Stakes – Frankel will obviously be long odds on but how about Excelebration in the without Frankel market or EW alternative? Won the German Guineas routing the field and previously ran well behind Frankel.

I fancied RofP to beat FandG but believe RofP has had a set back so ‘wait out’ on that race.

The Golden Jubilee Stakes will be an extremely fast 6F event, how about Hitchens running on late for a place at 40s?

Looking good for a very nice and prifitable Royal Ascot again 8)

Annoyingly Markab’s out of the Jubilee. I have no idea why. Candy reckons the undulating Newmarket will suit the horse more…really have no idea what he’s talking about and he certainly didn’t raise those concerns about 2 weeks ago when he was talking Markab’s chances up. Personally I think Delegator will be close to a cert there.

Anyway, £200EW on Planteur at 7/2 done today, 1/4 1-2-3. Fred was only offering me £22EW online but one of his shops was kind enough to take my money.

Have also got Green Destiny at 10s in the Hunt Cup, £50, Dozy in the Queen Mary, 14s £100, Elzaam in the Jubilee at 14s £40, Sole Power in the King’s Stand 10s £50, Star Witness in the same race 10s £30, Gatepost in the Coventry, £52.50 at 12s and 14s and Fame and Glory 6s £50 & 11/4 £280. Also got Mike Smith to be top jockey at 66s, £20.

I’ll be having a very decent bet on Modun wherever he runs (Duke of Edinburgh apparently), where in my eyes he’s an absolute cert. Also looking forward to enjoying a RFC with Goldikova and Canford Cliffs (buying money, surely?), as well as Dorback in the Wokingham and a couple of other things. The Ribblesdale is usually a wonderful trends race so hopefully there’ll be something in there. Await The Dawn is looking more and more like a cert in the Hardwicke.

Sometimes my ‘down with banks’ personality doesn’t pay off. Only had £370 in my account so had all of it on Fame and Glory at 5/2 about 3 minutes after the Rite of Passage news broke. With his biggest rival now out, he’s my Royal Ascot banker. I won’t hear of defeat for him.

Dorback won’t run in the Wokingham and is declared to run on Sunday at Donny. Unfortunately that tool Jamie Spencer is on him, and I just loath him in big-field handicaps.

Very good Nath, i have actually been Golfing in Scotland just to take the pressure off Royal Ascot looming large,i never had the balls to have the operation done which hasn’t pleased the missus mind.I just couldn’t guarantee it would have been 3 females doing the job in hand as the thought of a male Doctor handling my Crown Jewels is about as pleasing as your horse getting box 13 at Chester! I’m fresh and ready for another battle now,

    Sea Moon

at Evens was a good thing today,as for

    Margot did

all i will say is i hope YOU kept the faith as the ‘little bird’ is singing like a Nightingale tonight, about time mind!

I didn’t lose the faith Gord but didn’t have the confidence to go my usual £5 or £10 but just enough on to buy the racing post for the rest of the week. But still shouted her home more loudly than anything for a long time. Probably take the roof off if Canford comes home 1st on Tuesday….

What’s the pace angle going to be like in the Windsor Forest on Wednesday? If they go a good clip then I reckon Music Show looks big enough at 8’s, her recent form is not much but last seasons form is better than anything else in this field although Seta has been well looked after and is due a big one.

Nath, there’s only 2 things that will beat Canford Cliffs on Tuesday, one of thems his jockey,he’s made Magic City look like a poor horse recently and the others

    Cityscape

but only if there’s any cut! Goldikova wont beat him, good things always come to an end,it wont be age unlike Kauto Star,it will be the fact that there is a better miler than her now, next stop will be Frankel in the Sussex, thats if Frankel hasn’t self destructed by then!

Its been P*ssing it down all day up here in Gods Country and if Ascot has had half as much the going will be affected. So long as

    Cityscape

gets his toe in,he’ll put it down to the 2 big guns and at 20/1 i shall support him to do so,put it this way if the ground does come up soft he will go off a 10/1 shot and that price is still too big for this fellow,i like risks and i’ll be hoping the rain gets into the course.

    Cityscape

    £100 e/w 20/1 Tote Queen Anne,1/4 1st 2 places.

    £4300

The RP website reckons Ascot could get up to 20mm of rain tonight, again i am prepared to take the chance it does,if thats the case i have no doubt at all

    Dream Ahead

will prove a match for the so called wonder horse Frankel.Dream Aheads Middle park romp was still the best performance from a 2yo imo and at 14/1 he is way overpriced, anyone who takes 1/3 Frankel wants their head looking at,its gonna be a cracker!

    Dream Ahead

£150 e/w 14/1 Tote St James Palace stakes.

    £4000

GDC,i wouldn’t put you off Excelebration,he’s an improving sort and his German Guineas victory looked impressive but how many winners of that race are up to the class of a St james Palace winner?
If Fame and Glory stays he wins,i personally dont think he is a certainty over 21/2m miles and yet i did think Age of Aquarius was!! Hitchens is a Top class Handicapper in a Group 1,but so is Prohibit i hear you say! Good luck at the best flat racing festival of the year!

KF: Thanks for the comments, Dream Ahead looks a massive EW steal now that the rain has arrived, long may it come down over Ascot :)

Hope you stuck with the Captain Dunne form and ‘stole’ some of the early 7/2 on Sohraab yesterday, nice ride from Mr Moore although i do think McCririck could have won on that one LOL

Talking about ‘sticking with’ horses ala Margot Did i stayed loyal to Mr Balding this week-end and had Dungannon yesterday BUT also noticed his amazing strike rate at Chester and nabbed some of the 20s about his very nice looking juvenile Big Note who literally ‘hosed up’ on his debut despite being drawn 10 of ten at this tricky track!

Have backed Invincible Soul for the Hunt Cup at fancy prices. The good thing about the rain is it will also ‘slow up’ the speedier types and they should stop quicker and allow Prohibit and maybe Group Therapy to get to them :D I have kept the faith LOL
