The new stallion on the block in France. It’s no exaggeration to say that what this stallion is doing in his first season with runners is remarkable. The last three have all won this week. The two Macaire winners looked impressive for differing reasons with Unanime looking all class and careering away and Garliat Mue showing an impressive late burst to stay on powerfully past his rival. The George / Zetterholm runner yesterday again showed an impressive attitude to stay clear (he’s from the family of Allaho and Shannon Rock).
No runners yet in the UK or Ireland but they will come and they will conquer over time. The French think he could be the second coming and so do I.
The interesting thing is that his full brother is also at stud now and is much cheaper. Whether he will produce the same quality will be something to keep an eye on.
December 13, 2024 at 11:51 #1715304Yet another French stallion that ran over fences (seven wins from eight starts including a G1 win on his final start).
When will people understand what testicles are for? Of course you can’t have “colts only” races when they’re three, but I think that gelding operations should be carried out more carefully.
Thanks for pointing him out, KC.
December 13, 2024 at 12:30 #1715310They just know what they’re about in France. I see Nietzsche Has who finished runner up in a Grade 1 on his final start has also gone to stud (even though bookies have him in the betting for the Triumph).
Both the stallions Goliath Du Berlais and Beaumec De Houelle actually raced against Pic D’orhy which seems incredible given that he is still winning Graded races.
December 13, 2024 at 22:56 #1715360KC, I went to Auteuil last Sunday for their final meeting of the year. A 9-race card with two Listed, two G3s and two G2s for only 4 euros admission. You were free to walk all over the place the only exception being the Owners’ Stand.
Excellent viewing, fantastic races, great commentary and no worries about the ground which changed from lourd to trés lourd and with only four strokes of the whip allowed you saw quite a few hands and heels finishes. They weren’t even close of abandoning it. Overall a great experience and I’m looking to be back in Paris some time in February or March and also for the Grand Steeple.
