Ante post betting could be a real mine field this year. I hope it does not happen but – based on last night’s news – there has to be a possibility of a full lockdown in Ireland with a complete suspension of racing. Plans could be thrown into total disarray.

One would hope that Covid restrictions mid March will be similar to what they are now at worst, and that the stricter ones, if/when they come, will be mid Winter.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!The Cotswold Chase again for final prep? Where he goes before that I don’t know yet, can’t see it being the King George as it don’t play to his strengths. Hennessy perhaps or a smaller race somewhere. Betfair Chase I dunno though a run there, and he could have a nice rest up to the Cotswold if they wanted to.
Henderson does not seem that keen on the Betfair Chase. Maybe Bob’s Worth and Might Bite both getting beaten in it has put him off.
I think Santini would be well suited to the races at Down Royal and Leopardstown – but I cannot see Henderson running him there either.
The Cotswold Chase does look most likely.
I just can’t have either of the henderson horses , champ can’t jump and won a RSA that fell apart , santini is a sound jumper but hes so slow , I’ve said it before he screams GN rather that GC , early early days , one thing though , alboum photo , won the last 2 yet doesn’t seem to get the prise nor love he deserves , I’m still sticking with lostintranslation , haydock then give the king George a miss , cotswald then GC , I’ve said it already he ran a monster last year when the yard was in doldrums , he,s a proper horse ….at a silly price
How can Santini be slow? He lost by a diminishing head. 1 stride from winning it. And no disrespect from me re Al Boum Photo.
Mike watch the race , between the 2 and last fence cost him , he couldn’t go with the front 2 and then stayed on at the end , my believe is he,ll always find a horse or 2 with to much pace for him , lostintranslation has both pace and can stay , he went to the GC after a disaster of a king George and ran a monster , he,s a much better horse in my eyes
Santini is definitely slow
Its why he will never run in the king George
Simply doesnt have the pace
Look how he got outpaced by topofthegane and la bague au roi as a novice
Then last year he just didn’t have the tactical speed to win
Can Lostintranslation stay well enough up the hill though to win it? He was passed by Santini on the run in. I agree Lostintranslation is pacier but that hill is a great leveller.
Just coz Santini prefers stiffer tracks to tight ones dont make him slow. Plenty of good horses prefer stiffer tracks past and present. Youd never have seen Denman whizzing round in a King George.
Can lostintranslation stay ? ….he outstayed Bristol de mai at haydock , if you can do that you can stay , he,s double the price of santini , I’ve given my reason why he didn’t win last year , why do you think santini can this year ?
Mike Santini isn’t Denman , he doesn’t go off in front and say catch me ….he,s not fast enough

I didnt just say stay about him. I said stay well enough to win a Gold Cup. My reasoning backing Santini at 12s is that having got so close last season, with hopefully a stronger pace this time, he can go one better.
I backed Lostintranslation and Santini last season so its not that i got anything against Lostintranslation totally respect the horse. Just thought at the time the 12s was worth taking.
