So – if the chaps in Gloucestershire are to be believed – Get Me Out Of Here will be staying over hurdles.
This may be my pocket talking – ok, it is my pocket talking – but does anyone else think we could’ve lost a 2m chase star?
<strawclutching>Or do we think Mr O’Neill hasn’t quite made up his mind, really? </strawclutching>
What do we all think?

October 12, 2010 at 20:58 #322072I’d quite like to see how he progresses over hurdles 5LD, although it is always exciting when a decent hurdler gets sent chasing.
October 12, 2010 at 21:00 #322073True, and on a good day, with the pieces fulling the right way…who knows? He’s still young, anyway, so anything could happen.

October 12, 2010 at 21:08 #322075As natural a chaser as you could wish for and why connections are keeping him to hurdles surprises me! The Champion hurdle would be the only target and yet they have Binocular! I believe GMOOH will be jumping fences before Cheltenham,i cant believe connections are running scared of Celestial Halo just because he is rated a stone better over hurdles,not even i am confident Celestial is going to take to chasing,but if he does he wins the Arkle! GMOOH would be a big danger over fences,i like him a lot!

Jonjo has said that the horse isn’t particularly big and can’t jump fences, so how are we losing a chasing star?
Get Me Out Of Here won the Tote Gold Trophy pulling a train, finished a closing second in a bloody good renewal of the Supreme, is still only six years old and has raced all of half a dozen times.
There’s no reason chasing should be on the agenda yet, especially as there’s a chance he’ll stay way beyond two miles (he travels wonderfully well and is out of a half-sister to Harbour Pilot).
October 15, 2010 at 23:33 #322656Out of interest, AJ, how recently is it that Jonjo has indicated GMOOH might not be able to jump fences adequately?
The gelding’s entry in the brand new
One Jump Ahead
has Jonjo quoted as saying that;
‘Everything will be talked over and we’ll know much more in the Autumn, but my first guess is that he could well go novice chasing as he’s very athletic and jumping fences should suit him’
.
However, that quote was taken from April of this year, and I’m mindful of whether, say, GMOOH might have disappointed in his initial schooling over fences since then.

I’m sure I read it somewhere else, Jeremy, but here is a copy of the article:
