Value Is EverythingMay 21, 2019 at 02:15 #1439874…But there is one for Royal Ascot:
Coronation Stakes:
55 points @ 5/1 (WH) Qabala (min 9/2)Value Is EverythingMay 21, 2019 at 06:23 #1439876“Coronation Stakes:
55 points @ 5/1 (WH) Qabala (min 9/2)”Agreed! I was looking at this race a couple of days ago when the news RE: Hermosa’s future targets came through – ending up cutting both Qabala and Jubiloso for the firm. Surely the race cuts up a great deal with the likes of Hermosa, Commes, Maqsad, Lady Kaya, Fairyland, Skitter Scatter and others running elsewhere. This looks the obvious target for Qabala and she’ll start 5/2f I expect.
Each-way could be the play, though? Jubiloso produced some sexual sectionals and would have the Guineas horses in trouble with a run, I suspect.
Well done on your recent success by the way, Gingertipster. I am roundly mocked in the office for looking at TRF but I do keep an eye on your thread. You’re up there with the likes of Hugh Taylor as far as your winrate and sense of value goes. It’s all the more impressive in your case as you are often betting into strong Saturday markets on the morning of the race – and you’ve been doing it for years!
May 21, 2019 at 14:59 #1439920Before I came on this thread I’d just posted similar sentiments on the Coronation Stakes thread regarding Jubiloso, LS. Pretty certain she’ll end up a miler, but is she a certain runner yet? Considering how Stoutey looks after his three year olds until they’re well and truly ready… Suppose being second fav for this it’s likely she’ll turn up. Although bred for a mile, Jubilosa travelled extremely well at 7f at Newbury and raced at the head or disputing it. Was ok on debut racing mid-div, but that was 6f. Pretty certain she’ll end up a miler, but is there a danger for an inexperienced filly of over-racing over a mile in the the Royal Ascot atmosphere? If you had a market on the Jersey what price would she be? That said – even with those question marks – if coming here Jubilosa could well be challenging Qabala for favouritism… and expect her to be the better filly by season’s end.
You know my way of betting…
Backing “Qabala each way” – with very few exceptions imo win only is far better value than each way (even at big prices). Can see the 5/1 being money back second or third angle; however… Taking a fifth win odds means I’ve either put more money on or halved my win stake… Which doesn’t seem as good value when there’s a chance the horse does not run! Amount of money needed with ew also often prevents backing another horse for a good profit (whichever horse wins). In all probability (unless shortening dramatically) I’ll be putting a saver and probably more on Jubilosa nearer off time. Will keep an eye on the market, seeing if needing to get on earlier. Thanks for your very kind words about my betting, LS. Just waiting for the inevitable losing run. Nice to hear from you again, particularly being someone in the biz of odds compiling.
