Sort of, Istabraq. You won’t find me doing miracle bets like accus.
Yes, saver bets are there primarily to keep my losing runs to a minimum, for confidence. ie Keeping winners coming keeps my confidence up which in turn keeps me studying in the same profitable way. Backing two or three horses also helps me to back more value bigger priced selections. Am sure if I were to back mostly one horse (the horse I believed is the best value) I’d probably find myself over-estimating the shorties – wanting to back short priced horses with good chances of winning – and as a consequence missing the bigger priced winners. eg It would’ve been easy to back Watan today as a main bet and missing the winner Phoenix Of Spain. Or this day a few years ago would’ve been easy to back Golden Horn and not Arabian Queen @ 189/1.

I was fairly impressed with Sea Of Class today, Nathan, she won with a bit more in hand than winning distances suggest, iss progressive with more improvement in her. I like unbeaten horses and am Haggas’s biggest fan. However, you’re not going to like this… Enable beat Coronet by twice as far and that was eased down! Sea Of Class is yet to beat another real top class horse and her form is still somewhat short of what you’d expect of an Arc winner. Kept to her own sex and although Forever Together and Coronet are good fillies; they’re not ones I’d describe as able to take on the best colts (witness the King George). Coronet may not have been at her very best at Ascot; but was 9 lengths behind Crystal Ocean. Even with a 3 lbs allowance Sea Of Class has imo still got another 7 lbs+ to reach Crystal Ocean’s level and unlike SOC he’s proven on both a firm and likely Arc ground of soft surface.. and available at almost double the price. Sea Of Class’s action is of a typical top-of-the-ground, daisy cutting, sound surface racehorse, who is yet to run on good-soft, let alone soft… And taken out of a soft ground Oaks – one she had (at the time) a first rate chance of winning! Way she’s ridden for a turn of foot probably won’t be as effective on a soft surface either and those dropped out the back don’t win many Arcs. Needs supplimenting too.
I’d want better than 10/1 right now,Nathan. If it did come up on the firm side of good might be a different proposition.
