Probably it’s the Taghrooda factor and a literal translation of the form would be a strong pointer. The ground was bad next time and I suppose you could forgive her that bad run. Not sure 3/1 is tempting in a trappy looking race though.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

If ignoring the run last time then Jordan Princess would be the horse to beat Steve. 3/1 suggests we can forget about last time out, but am not sure we can. She’d already run and won on similar ground to Goodwood. Two good things are Cumani is in good form and she’s one of few proven on good-firm. But can’t understand her being so short.
Eastern Belle did much better than Jordan Priness at Goodwood (2nd) and if acting on this surface could improve again. Queen Of Ice (like Jordan’s, high in potential before disppointing last time). Well touted before the Musidora but didn’t settle. I’ve gone for Belle De Lawers as my main bet, fairly close 5th in a listed race, trying to come from well back. Could well improve significantly given a truer test (not certain to get it.
I have those three above JP in my workings out.
At the moment my 100% book is:
Eastern Belle 7/2, Belle De Lawers 7/2, Queen Of Ice 9/2, Jordan Princess 5/1, Kallisha 10/1, Pelerin 15/1, Latenightquest 28/1, Uchena 50/1, Mutais Mutandis 66/1, Groovejet 132/1Value Is EverythingJune 11, 2014 at 23:42 #482045Queen Anne:

Am a big fan of Toronado Nathan, but he ran poorly on final start last season (running poorly on two of four starts in 2013). Love to be backing him @ 2/1, but he’s not 2/1.
Value Is EverythingJune 12, 2014 at 06:41 #482053Glad we both agree on belle de lawers mark, I can see a steaming run from the back to take it, unlucky for you though I’m hitting the woodwork consistently this month!

45 points @ 9/2 (B365) Belle De Lawers* (min 9/2)I think this horse went into plenty of notebooks last time.
Unfortunately, I see the drying ground being a big negative on two counts. There is already one Rule 4, no surprise if more to follow. Belle De Lawers has form on good but today will be a much quicker surface. Personally, I think she wants soft ground and it wouldn’t be the biggest surprise to see her in the list of non-runners.
Good luck.

He was 2/1 two days ago.
He had 5 starts in 2013
ran poorly when returning out quickly (or quickest return for him) Ran well when fresh.
As always good luck…….

June 12, 2014 at 09:12 #482070Hi Ginge,
Quick question, i notice you generally tend only to play in the better class races I believe it is one of your rules i.e. minimum grade 3. One of the reasons of avoiding the lower graded racing is that you find it very difficult to do a tissue.
However with the likes of newbury, Salisbury and Goodwood you seem to discard that rule and have an interest in the lower graded races, i’d be interested as to why you ignore your rule in these instances?
Cheers

Good point and I agree with you Stilvi, drying ground is a worry for Belle and could well be a non-runner. Sire Black Sam Bellamy’s progeny statistics show a slight preference for softer ground and dam Scotland The Brave loved getting her toe in. But I didn’t see much in BDL’s action to say she’d hate a firm surface and price imo makes it worth taking a chance.
We shall see.

You’re right Baynet, I do prefer the higher grades, the higher the better. So on Saturdays and Festival days etc there is no need for me to look at lower quality stuff. I do have a rule that is only very seldom broken of not betting in Class 5 and lower handicaps, sellers etc. Frustrating, all the Class 5 handicaps on today’s Newbury card. Have nothing against Class 5 maidens, especially when going racing after viewing them in the paddock. Am a regular racegoer at those three courses you mention and feel I know the tracks well. Don’t mind having a bet in Class 3 and 4 handicaps at certain courses, though not ones I don’t know or have a big bias (eg Chester, Beverley) or Haydock (Clerk). But admit I don’t work them out that often unless am going racing. Do like a day off studying now and again although it may be something I will start doing in future once getting the garden in order.
Value Is EverythingJune 12, 2014 at 10:04 #482081Yeah presumed they were your "local" tracks ….when betting in these lower grade races do you scale your stakes down appropriately?
There does seem to be a long wait between decent races at the moment don’t seem to remember all these lower grade races all through the week unless there’s a festival… I was sure Thursday and Friday had a better programme of racing than we’re seeing nowadays …still will be busy enough next week

Enjoying the thread keep up the good work!
