Hopefully it’ll be good ground Baynet, first times of the day will be interesting to say the least.
Value Is EverythingJune 7, 2014 at 10:45 #481477yeah think it’s fair to say some clerk of the courses going reports can be taken with a huge shovel full of salt but he seems genuine and has been praised for his going updates this week

Yeah I’m 99% sure it’ll be perfectly good ground, the rain lasted for in total about 45mins and was quite heavy but nothing spectacular, enough to take any ‘firm’ out of the going leaving it ‘good’, the sun that’s out at the moment will only aid this as well.
June 7, 2014 at 11:03 #481484Not sure why you are crowing about 200 pages,
we have to put up with the equivalent of 200 pages of your drivel every time we go racing
!!

Only 200 Softie?

See you tomorrow.

Value Is EverythingJune 8, 2014 at 11:25 #481649A lot of bets shortening up nicely for you today
June 8, 2014 at 16:31 #481673What a shocker gutted for you especially getting 7/1! The very inconsistant clockmaker takes it.
I mentioned in my thread a few months ago how clockmaker needs to be ran prominently and hayley turner never does this and then money comes from no were for clockmaker and she changers tactics, makes you think.June 9, 2014 at 10:40 #481773What a shocker gutted for you especially getting 7/1! One of those days where things just didn’t go my way. Could’ve been very different.

Rydan shortened up. Dropped out in a very slowly run race on a day that seemed to favour front runners. Effort of getting in to the race when pace at its fastest – taking its toll. Fortune over-confident. Finished a close 4th. Where as winner (2nd fav) had the advantages of both an easy lead and two rank outsiders between him and the others with chances.
Kashgar shortened up late and Rhombus well backed early. Finished second and third to one better positioned, Number One London. A horse going up from 10f to 2m and choosing this race to (at last) break his maiden.

As for Ruwaiyan… Backed @ 7/1 came in to 2/1! By far pick of the paddock. Dropped out last (being a bit free) where as Clockmaker was on the front end. Hughsie made up the ground effortlessly, got upsides looking sure to win, but seemingly outbattled. Although I got the impression another guilty of over-confidence (only encouraged once with the whip and too late to respond anyway) may be the horse pulls himself up in front. Great ride by Hayley, choosing yesterday for a change of tactics.

Excuse the aftertiming, but at least another girl did me a favour, 7 lbs claimer Jenny Powell. Broke a habit of a lifetime and had an on course bet on a Seller! Thought everything was in her favour; best recent form, trainer in good form, no other horse likely to take her on (made all) etc… And without an "inexperienced girl" on top (insert your own joke) to put the punters off would’ve been fairly long odds-on. Jenny got me back half of yesterday’s stakes. Phew!
