My 100% Book:
Defoe 15/8, Frontiersman 100/30, To Eternity 5/1, Horseplay 12/1, Wall Of Fire 20/1, Agent Murphy 20/1, The Tartan Spartan 25/1, Crimean Tartar 33/1, Harlequeen 56/1I’ve had a bit of 2/1 about Defoe, but the main bet is To Eternity each way on betfair @ 6.6/1. Done it on betfair because it wouldn’t surprise me if both Frontiersman and Crimean Tartar are non-runners; that would make it 7 runners and I want three places.
Value Is EverythingAugust 18, 2017 at 23:43 #1314287I’m slightly surprised to see Defoe fav ahead of Frontiersman, yes he’s improving and has the weight for age allowance but Frontiersman was runner up in the Coronation Cup and despite his quirks is capable of mixing it and holding his own and not looking out of place in group 1 company and I’d take him to win of the pair.
Wall of Fire has been running around dog tracks in Belmont and Chester and this course will suit him much better and I think he can run a big race and he will have to with the likes of Frontiersman and Defoe in the field but I’ve been banging on about him forever and would love it if he were to take this.
love it

August 19, 2017 at 00:01 #1314293Good luck with Wall Of Fire Nathan, I’m sticking with Frontiersman tomorrow and hope he runs his race and behaves himself.
This race is a lot easier than he has come up against recently so I’m hopeful he’ll take all the beating. Reports are good that he’s been working well at home.
Every time I look at Harlequeen and her huge price 33/1 I keep getting flashes that the headlines read that she wins the Geoffrey Freer for Mick Channon and Silvestre De Sousa, I mean 3rd in The Oaks screams class…so I’m having an each way bet on her and a rev.forecast with Frontiersman..good luck I’ll be watching this on the big screen from Newmarket tomorrow..Jac
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...August 19, 2017 at 01:10 #1314310Frontiersman looks a huge price at 3/1
I would have predicted 11/8 or 6/4 favourite here
I’m on

August 19, 2017 at 11:05 #1314365Is the going soft then…..?
That’s why Frontiersman isn’t fav
Bloody soft at Newmarket as well, I thought Eqtiraan was too big at 12’s know why now…..

August 19, 2017 at 13:31 #1314409I struggle to split Defoe and Frontiersman but can understand why Defoe is favourite given conditions and that Frontiersman isn’t the most straightforward of types.
Instead I’ve had a little each-way bet on Agent Murphy to have some monetary interest in the race. He won this 2 years ago and went on to fill the runners-up spot in the Irish St Leger. That’s form that could see him win this but I understand it’s a big ask given his time off the track and that’s factored into his price. He’s worth a punt at 18/1 in my mind though.
Good luck all you Frontiersman fans.
August 19, 2017 at 13:55 #1314414I really liked Horseplay in this. Hopefully she comes back okay.
I’ve gone for Harlequeen at a price. She will like the ground, and I thought on a couple of occasions last season she wanted a step up in trip. Placed in the both Oaks, behind Minding and Seventh Heaven, is decent form and I think she’ll come on for her reappearance.
August 19, 2017 at 14:17 #1314418With Horseplay now out my 100% Book:
Defoe 13/8, Frontiersman 3/1, To Eternity 9/2, Wall Of Fire 16/1, Agent Murphy 22/1, The Tartan Spartan 25/1, Crimean Tartar 28/1, Harlequeen 56/1Reduction factor included, I’ve had a bit of 7/4 about Defoe, but the main bet is To Eternity each way on betfair @ 6/1 (might get a soft lead here).
Value Is EverythingAugust 19, 2017 at 14:36 #1314419What a mighty performance of Defoe
!
He was my main bet today, many of you don’t like such a “short priced fav”, but he was worth it!
I found it really funny how these at the races-guys tried to manipulate the market towards Frontiersman (“he’s a much better horse every day of the week”)..August 19, 2017 at 14:38 #1314422What a mighty performance of Defoe

August 19, 2017 at 14:40 #1314426Deliberate interference imo, throw him out.
Value Is EverythingAugust 19, 2017 at 14:41 #1314427This result won’t get reversed.
Really interesting race that one.
I think the trip and/or the ground found Frontiersman out, I think 12 furlongs on a quick surface is what he wants.
Defoe’s proved he is 100% a Group horse but I’d quite happily side against him in the Leger.
Wall Of Fire should be being aimed at the Long Distance race on Champions day, forget everything else.
Crimean Tartar has given Hugo Palmer something to work with and like Frontiersman a drop in trip and quicker ground should see him be more competitive.
Agent Murphy ran well enough to please connections, it looked like a lack of race fitness just cost him late on. He should progress from there and reach his old level of form in time.
A good result for favourite backers.

Oh yes he has!
Deliberate interference imo, throw him out.
What an unfair comment, but I let this talk for itself..
