Gosden always seemed pretty confident that Shutter Speed was his best middle distance filly, and given that Enable gave Rhodedondron a whipping at Epsom I’m going to have to go in again.

TheGun, i think that quote of Gosden was in April ” Shutter Speed is a good filly and has always looked our best middle-distance three-year-old filly”
I would hazard a guess if you asked him who is best middle distance filly is now he would say Enable without a doubt. I dont think SS’s last run even taking into account the Soft ground is good enough to beat Rhododendron.
No interest in the race but i can see why people have gone for the AOB horse. Should be a good race
Yes, but remember that SS has already beaten Enable quite convincingly.

True, but i think Enable is the best horse now though, albeit over 12F. Hope she comes in for you, i do.
June 18, 2017 at 12:03 #1304767I thought her performance on soft ground was a good one. She won it comfortably and wasn’t given a hard time. The form overall is nothing to shout about but it was basically a run to keep her ticking over or leave it and try and keep her fit at home.
She glides on quick ground so today will be a good opportunity for her.
AOB has never won this race so possibly may have used the oaks as a prep of sorts as they went full pelt in that.Either way, I would be surprised if one of these two doesn’t win. I’m quite dismissive of the home team this year.
June 18, 2017 at 12:36 #1304774Was there a live link to today’s Prix Diane…..?

June 18, 2017 at 14:32 #1304784Hats off to Gregory Benoist getting Zelzal beat. Worst ride of the French racing season there.
June 18, 2017 at 14:49 #1304787I watch all the races on the France Galop website Nathan, you have to make an account but its quick and painless.
Hats off to Gregory Benoist getting Zelzal beat. Worst ride of the French racing season there.
Couldn’t agree more, he looked at the horse’s silks and thought he was on Brametot..
June 18, 2017 at 14:49 #1304788I haven’t seen the race yet but in Benoist’s defence the horse did get the touch of death from Liz Price….

Not the best Charles, but i sort of expected him not to win today. Next time out i think you will see a different horse.
He was the first horse to get that virus and Rouget said the horses affected would only be 60% ready FTO. It was a similar thing with Qeemah FTO as well.No surprise to see Almanzor beaten when he appears as well.
June 18, 2017 at 14:57 #1304790Thanks Voleur, I’m in……

Maybe so Botchy but Zelzal really should have won that race today, he was given no chance by Benoist. That is something interesting to consider for Amlanzor’s reappearance however, it might be worthwhile opposing him at what should be very short odds.
June 18, 2017 at 15:16 #1304794Like Steve, I’ve gone in on Shutter Speed. For me she will prove to be the best filly in Europe this year. I know she has a terrible draw but Frankie has been there before with Star of Seville two years ago. I wouldn’t be surprised if he does something similar to that day. Obviously Rhododendron is a danger but I always hate it when horses are run as afterthought and that is what this is for her. She had a hard race in the Oaks and will do very well to win this off the back of that. I have also had a little ew on Senga as I am sure we haven’t seen the best of this one yet. She has her ground and I think she will be better over this trip.
well not the one I thought but a nice ew on Senga. Just hope Rhododendron is ok. Shutter Speed almost looked like she didn’t stay. Maybe just feeling the quick ground as well? Or maybe just not good enough. We always liked Senga hey Stevie?

Without a doubt he should of won with a better ride. Just was not interested in winning sad to say. It happens all to often nowadays. Some trainers using group races to get a run into horses with a view to other prizes further down the line.
June 18, 2017 at 15:20 #1304796Better never mention
******’ Senga again Steve, or I will lose my temper!
She’s an absolute lame duck, but maybe you will never learn this
..Quack, quack………….

Well done you two on keeping the faith with her.I was going to do her at 6/1 a couple of month back and never had a bet at all in the race. Just shows you when you spot one early you should back it regardless of the price.

Spitting feathers now Nathan eh?
June 18, 2017 at 15:26 #1304801Yep, well done those who kept the faith with Senga – a well deserved reward for you lads who have had some awful luck with that filly so far this season.
I got my each-way money for Sistercharlie (20/1) but I can’t help but quietly feel she could easily of won that race and fully believe time will tell she should’ve. A very contrasting fortune for my other bet with Soumillion coming off and I’m sure there will be some bans and placing amendments to come.
I don’t think Shutter Speed had many excuses and hopefully Rhododendron will be alright – given how it turned out she may well have come out on top.
