Ok he was beaten by a horse being given a spin over an inadequate distance.

    That’s worse

Could be…. Beaten by an above average handicapper….

I was talking about the MACHINE not the ALSO RAN Faugheen.

A Coral Cup winner of a mark of 148 is an above average handicapper. What’s so tough to understand?
I’m not disrespectful towards Faugheen, it’s just sad that this is his very best now…

The old Faugheen is no longer. However, you do remember Sprinter Sacre and what happened there?

Secondly a horse beaten 1/2 length by Apples Jade with a mares allowance is handicapper?

    That’s what’s so tough to understand……

    Just a daft statement.

And of course it’s relevant. A trainer as smart as Jessica not even entering the horse tells you quite clearly that she believes he has no chance at all of winning the big one

Should hardly have to spell that out

What happened with ss was unusual rather than the usual outcome in these cases. There are no certainties but one faugheen has seemingly gone backwards in his two runs since his comeback run and that’s more of a concern

Jezki hasn’t been running up to his official rating for a while – I also think Melon, Identity Thief, Defi and Bapaume failed to run to their ratings today.

Sectionals confirm the visual impression that Faugheen enjoyed a fairly easy time at the front today and can be marked down accordingly. I don’t think I’d want to give him more than 155 for today’s run.

Apples Jade is not a 3-mile horse and ran for the first time over this sort trip. Why not have a closer look at the race over 2m4f where she beat him over 10 lengths?
Besides that Apple’s Jade is only rated 158, so that’s why Supasundae remains an above average handicapper. Nothing more….

Add on the mares allowance to that….running to 165 at the very least….

it was his reappearance compared to hers…..and you seem to have a crystal ball to know she isnt a 3mile horse, shes ran once over the trip and won once.

Yeah, you’d surely give Bapaume a 160+ rating as well…..

    ?

Not pleased at all. He’s been a fabulous horse. Ok the connections can leave some people cold but that’s nothing to do with faugheen

Our view at sandown today was that we wanted a performance to make a great race of the ch. the hurdling field is very thin at the moment

Bapaume only gave her 2pounds, and didn’t look like he’d stayed…

Either way, i think this is going off topic a little…..Supasundae is better than a handicapper these days….Jessie also thinks hes better on spring ground….

Faugheen not as good as he once was, Supasundae a good graded animal…..

Clive supasundae ran to a grade 1 2m rating today, everything else your saying is irrelevant. All it does is take away from the winner rather than faugheen.

His run behind AJ was also a grade 1 performance when you add in the mares allowance. Its a silly arguement.

    I’ve got Supsasundae’s performances this season rated as (in order) 156 – 163 – 164.

He’s ran twice over staying trips, and while there’s no shame in losing to Yanworth or giving weight to Apple’s Jade, I don’t think he truly saw out the 3 miles in either. I would have him in the Champion Hurdle, personally. I don’t think he’s good enough to beat BD, but he would certainly be in the frame.

“A trainer as smart as Jessica not even entering the horse tells you quite clearly that she believes he has no chance of all of winning the big one”.

I must admit I do wonder at times how smart some trainers really are. Why run Sizing John too quickly after his previous run when there was a significant possibilty that could be the case? Maybe she would have been better off following the owners wishes and going for the million pound bonus with him in the first place.

As for Supasundae, surely you give yourself the options and have him entered? Obviously you wouldn’t want to pay a supplementary fee of 20 grand after not entering in the first place but what price would he be for the Champion if entered? Would he be much bigger than the 6/1 he’s currently available for the Stayers?

And what if Buveur meets with a setback? Trainers have been known to be surprised by their horses as well.

I do agree yeats. Especially given how thin the competition is.

Ham you are talking nonsense. Yes Jessica may have erred here but at the end if the day they simply haven’t seen the horse as a 2m champion. You can’t get away from that.

Doesn’t matter what Jessie thought, Clive. Trainers can get it wrong. Fact is to date Supasundae’s best run is at 2m. She should’ve given the horse a Champion entry. Although at the moment it’s not definite what distance will suit at Cheltenham. Possible the horse needs softish ground to bring out his stamina at 2 miles and/or good ground/slowly run race at 3m to bring out his speed.
