I like Lavender’s Blue as well Jac. I put her up a few days ago on here, and
took the 16s which was the best price. I think she’s been pretty unlucky being drawn in the No1
stall, and that’s probably reflected in her price drifting out. I still think she’ll run well, and
seeing as I backed her on the nose at 16s, I’ve taken the 25/1 E/W. I’m more hopeful than confident
now, but I’m sure she’ll run her race. I was very impressed the way she took the space between the
2 horses in front on her debut to burst through and win, that showed bottle for such an inexperienced
horse. She won’t get beat for the lack of trying :good:

Times so far a bit slow considering the weather we’ve had and kicking up plenty.

    Best ride wins the Oaks.
Great to see owner breeders Helena Springfield Ltd/Meon Valley Stud back in the big time. :good:
Best result for me would’ve been Maqsad who proved a non-stayer; but am very happy to pick up on Anapurna.
Well done to all who backed the winner, particularly those who just picked the one horse. :good:

Unlucky today, Greenasgrass. Even if the winner takes her chance in the Irish Oaks suspect Pink Dogwood will come out on top. Ryan made a fast move two out – possibly too fast – and Anapurna outstayed the Coolmore filly today.

Watering the ground to make it into these conditions is almost cheating for me. It’s ridiculous. It’s time for better guidelines on watering. Massive joke to have watered this week.

PS Not sour grapes as I had 2 winners and a postive day.

Well done Raymo and all winners :good: :good:
    Great ride by Frankie.

Thought our Lavender’s Blue had a good shot at it Graham, but just not the class of the winner same with Maqsad.
Epsom really sorts them out and a lot of Newmarket types (those that don’t win going round bends) don’t seem to perform well here…must try and remember that for future bets and think we can draw a line under both those runs.

Well done Ginger, Mark and Raymo, you’ve got a lot to thank Frankie for, that was
    a great ride :good:

Yes Jac, our Lavender Blue was running a great race before the lights went out
I’d like to hear what the stable are saying, that didn’t look just like normal
tiring late on, it was so severe, 1st to last in not much more than half a furlong.
I hope there is nothing wrong, and perhaps 12f is just beyond her, but as long as
she’s okay I still think there’s a good race in her :good:

I noticed this morning that of Amanda Perratt’s recent runners had beaten just 6 home of 73 rivals in 8 races (now 6 of 86 in 9). Although vast majority were outsiders imo after a good start to the season there may be something wrong now. Also not helped by Lavenders Blue failing to settle in front. Dam didn’t run well in this race either.

You may be right Ginger, perhaps something isn’t right in the stable. Certainly from watching
her previous races I wouldn’t have expected her to fold like that. Getting beaten is one thing,
but she barely walked over the line 40 lengths back. I did wonder if she found herself in sort
of uncharted territory, in that De Sousa perhaps had to to stir her up from a low draw to get a
position, and she found herself at the head of affairs and as you said she could have settled
a tad better. On both her starts, when she’s done well, she settled well and sat in behind the
leaders and made a late move. It may be that she just isn’t at this level, but my gut feeling
    is something may be amiss.

Hope she will be ok Graham and Ginger’s post throws some light on a possible cause for that poor show.

Lavender’s Blue is such a promising young filly and had never gone beyond 1m2f and also never been ridden from the front like that.
Coming from promising runs at both Newmarket and Newbury maybe it was the course that she didn’t like and possibly SDS saved her once her chance to win had gone.

Look forward to seeing her back to winning ways later in the season after a short break to recuperate. Jac

Lavenders Blue’s dam Beatrice Aurore also travelled well for a long way in Dancing Rain’s Oaks before finding little – although managed 6th. But not seen again at 12f in 14 subsequent starts. Think you’re right LB will be back to 10f next time.

I see Maqsad is entered in the 1m Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot. Wonder if connections might think of getting her out quickly.

It’s for certain that some don’t take to Epsom Jac, probably the oddest of courses with
the undulations, perhaps after after coming round Tattenham Corner her action went a bit,
the course does lie in towards the rail. I’ve watched a few times but can’t see anything
untoward. Perhaps as we’ve all considered, she just doesn’t get the 12f. I still think
there might be something, as she went out like a light, I’ll keep a check on Amanda Perrett’s
site to see if she puts any update.

Amanda Perrett tweeted “It was not our intention to make the running but she was keen to get on with the job. She handled herself in the preliminaries beautifully and we look forward to the rest of the season with her” so sounds like all is well.

It was a good ride by Frankie but I wouldn’t necessarily expect Pink Dogwood to reverse the form if they both go to the Curragh. Both fillies will probably improve and Anapurna was having only her second start on turf. One of the other beaten horses could end up collaring the pair of them too. I’ve been watching the head on replay. Pretty rough race. Mehdaayih had no chance having been almost knocked over twice, likewise Manuela De Vega (albeit it was her own fault).

Thanks for that Tonge, perhaps Lavender’s Blue just didn’t like making the running
and downed tools, or more likely I think that leading, plus the extra 2f, just
didn’t work for her. I think Ginger is probably right, she will likely drop back
10f, or even a mile where she has speed at the finish. Probably more questions than
answers at this stage, but I think she’s one to keep the right side of.

Brilliant ride from Frankie and Anapurna has plenty more to come.

I thought Fleeting ran a cracker and I’ll be backing her for the Irish Oaks.

Perrett has these lean spells too often, these days, and her horses rarely retain their form for long
