Why is Etonian not much shorter for Friday?

Derab has to be taken on merit at the moment and not about sexy breeding, even 40/1 is too short. As Mike says not even won a maiden yet. Must be doubtful they’ll even get him to the Derby now. Needs to step up massively.

I would imagine Yibir would be on paper the Godolphin number 1 for the Derby. Brother to Oaks second Wild Illusion. If he wins well on Friday it’s probably a stepping stone to the Dante from there and he’ll be pinned as the number 1.

Haven’t checked the derby odds but now would be the time to cover him I’d say. The race on Friday looks intriguing but not sure it’s that strong.

Personally cant see why yibir is fav for tomorrow

Both him and etonian beat King vega

Etonian beat him further even though king vega was on debut when he was beaten by Yibir

Etonian also holds a win over one ruler

The price difference makes no sense there

His last win he beat megallan who has flattered to decieve for most of his career so far

Id say hes priced up on Applebys stable form more than what he’s shown on the track

And Lone Eagle is a very solid horse who will ensure its a proper test

Markets for trials for Derbys and Oaks and sometimes the Guineas are often about potential and physical development from 2 to 3 and trainer vibes.

The form may be in the book at age 2 for some, it depends if they train on sufficiently or were just precocious at 2.

Even though they not running in trials, Santa Barbara and One Ruler wouldn’t be Guineas favourites purely on form at 2 for example.

Suppose it comes down to how you bet

I personally take stable talk with a large pinch of salt as trainers constantly over sell their horses

I’d always be looking at something with concrete form in the book that has the breeding that suggests progression is highly likely from 2 to 3 and up in trip

I can’t look at two year old form quite like that though FF, they’re all developing at different rates. I’d be careful with that Sandown form though because Oisin came out after and said he was definitely on the best horse but screwed up the race and it was his fault. Tend to agree with Mike. It’s more about potential, vibes and profile when going for derby horses .

That said yibir needs to step up and show it so whether he’s value tomorrow is questionable

While Oisin did get caught up and Etonian got first run, Etonian was hardly all out, so it’s only Oisin’s opinion. One thing we all know is, jockey’s aren’t good tipsters lol.

I really like Etonian but there has to be a question mark over him getting the 10F.

I believe what Oisin says though to be honest, he’s one of the few jockeys that gives very frank and honest views

Kev is right as well there are some good staying pedigree’s in this race, Etonian is going to struggle staying you’d think on paper

Just because he ‘s frank and honest doesn’t mean he’s right though Frenchy. He doesn’t know what Etonian had left he only knows about his horse….

I imagine Dobbs would say he had plenty left.

I’d say that’s more than factored in at 9/1 though

Lone Eagle my main fancy though hes a very honest big galloper who beng by Galileo will hopefully have improved over the winter

My worry for him is he might already want further than 10f being out of a Duke of marmalade mare as well as the Galileo side

    It’s an intriguing little race

The best jockeys will tell you they know exactly what’s around them. Kieran Fallon certainly did. The best jockeys will have the race and competition mapped out

Etonian is best watched for me but can’t argue with anyone too much about taking the price if they like him

Kieran Fallon used to drink in my local pub, and he’d send his “tips” over. People got very excited. Once the tips started doing sh1t, people soon became less excited.

Take jockey optimism and views with a pinch of salt is always my view.

They might state they know but really they’ve not a ******* clue. Oisin doesnt do his own race analysis, he employs someone to do it for him
