Carv – how do you account for the Jonjo figures ?
It rather undermines the whole exercise if you don’t mind me saying.
On the first set JJ’s returns are 3 times better
On the second set JJ’s returns are 5.4 times betterDont understand what your saying here, Sam?

I’ll be interested to see how De Boitron fares at Haydock tomorrow – given a less-than-strenuous re-introduction and drops four furlongs in distance at one of the sharpest courses in the country.

I can assure you that De Boitron would have been trying to win the race, same as he was at Market Rasen. The prize monet was well worthwhile for both races. At Market Rasen De Boitron was beaten by a horse that travelled behind him for most of the race. Maybe he should have been dropped further out of it, certainly the two that went on went too fast and paid the price by being caught on the run in.
Perhaps Media Gecko could suggest where he should be running, given a rating of 119 and a requirement in trip of 2 miles to 2m4f, and the location of the yard being in North Yorkshire. The last mentioned fact means that races at places like Exeter and Fontwell are out of the question.

Lot of different opinions here which you would expect but I think Ferdy get’s raw deal because he’s has successfully pulled of more than a few strokes in his time. But what is he doing that is so different to what happens every day?
I watched a novice hurdle the other day. Three horses dominated the race and dominated the betting. 100/1 shots 200/1 shots you name it. Not one horse outside the 3 tried it’s best and there must have been 20 in the race.
If you lined up every jockey in that race and gave him a truth serum and asked the question "Could you have won" you could damn near put your life savings on it that 80% would say no and the other 20% would say no but if I had half murdered the horse he might have finished 3rd or 4th.
I fail to see what is so different about what Ferdy Murphy and may I add hundreds of other trainers do every other day.
I would also think that Lydia and her buddy being so long in racing should know that is just how racing is.
I notice when I asked what’s the difference between Ferdy sending one out unfit and Nicky Henderson sending Punjabi out unfit but those out for Ferdy’s blood chose to ignore that one
December 21, 2009 at 12:13 #264766Punjabi wasn’t held up and never put in the race. There’s a difference between sending a horse out that will come on for the run and sending one out that you have no intention of trying to win with.

But De Boitron was definitely put into the race, and came 3rd. If he could have won he would have.
Still, those with the knives out try to make something of it….
How little they know!

I don’t think tbracing’s comments related specifically to De Boitron, cjboy.
December 21, 2009 at 13:01 #264772I wasn’t refering to De Boitron, just a generalization.
The stats are very compelling and I’m not speaking out of term in saying Ferdy Murphy has hardly got the cleanest of records so you can understand peoples queries when presented with such evidence that would back up what many have always held in their mind.
