The song has been available for a week now, but having checked the Official UK Chart Company website (http://www.theofficialcharts.com/top40_singles.php), I’m afraid I can confirm that it didn’t manage to breach even the top 100 in yesterday’s chart.
Those involved are going to have to hope saturation playing of the song at Prestbury Park this week will make a difference, though whether physical format sales of the song (if a CD single version exists) in the Cheltenham gift shops actually count towards chart eligibility is a tickly issue – the racecourse may not, I suspect, count as a recognised music sales outlet! Still, sales are sales, and any such sales on course will doubtless be welcomed by the charities.

March 15, 2010 at 23:36 #282659I quite liked it,given that my favourite musical writers are Edward Elgar, Gustav Mahler and Luwig Van Beethoven. Wonder what they would have done. Anyway it was a bit of fun – harmless even and if the great and good are thought to be taking themselves a little less than seriously occasionally then what’s the problem.
As the great John Arlott once said "We take life too lightly and sport too seriously. Lets have a bit of fun and all lump on Chesnut Annie in the Foxhunters.
March 16, 2010 at 04:39 #282691Ears and eyes bled, puked and lost control of my bowel after 5 seconds. Apart from that, it was fine.
It was like watching 1000 dads dance to your drunken nan singing ‘yellow bird’.

LOL. As long as you mean the Aintree Foxhunters rather than the equivalent, I’m with you on that one, bbobbalulah!
