I can’t believe that Chabal is going to be suited by less of a stamina test than he had last time out, so it’s still
Dick Turpin
and Xtension for me.
October 16, 2009 at 07:33 #253553Just wondering what is going on with Frankie. He has the right to be first jockey for Godolfin. If his first choice is withdrawn then he goes on the next one.Now he seems to be left out of the picture. Can’t believe that his interest is gone so low that he would let an apprentice take his rides away. There is more to it than meets the eye.Neither Fallon nor Piggot would stand aside and see their career’s go down the drain like this. Last year Frankie took other jockeys rides in the BC.He had no problem taking Fortunes rides away just as Fallon is doing today. Is he just a stooge of the Arabs now.Does he have no cajones? It looks like it! If Manhattan Fox does not win the Dewhurst he can give up.If Godolfin does win with the camel driver aboard them he can give up twice.
October 16, 2009 at 08:19 #253558Have a feeling about AOBs second string Fencing Master here and O’Donoghue was on the right one with joshua tree the other week. Couldnt be too confident on anything in this race and just one for fun i think.
October 16, 2009 at 16:27 #253595I was very impressed by Xtension in the Vintage Stakes.
Travelled well before unleashing an electric turn of foot.
He clearly improved after Royal Ascot and one would hope he has again since.
Both his Daddy and Grand-Daddy won this race and I think he’ll take all the beating.
Dick Turpin was given an awful ride on Arc day. He’s better than that.
Silver Grecian is one of my favourite 2YOs. Showing an ideal blend of class and courage, he will be hard to keep out of the frame.
October 16, 2009 at 18:25 #253621Steinbeck could be anything. I wasn’t over impressed with his last run. However Johnny Murtagh seems particularly enthused about the horse’s chance – but even so, i’ll take a chance by not backing the O’Brien charge this time round.
Chabal is the one which interests me most. He ran a fine race last time out at the Curragh and this Newmarket seven furlongs on quicker ground should suit him well. He will, I hope, be running on when the others have cried enough.
Gambling Only Pays When You're Winning
October 16, 2009 at 23:29 #253693Not sure the first few in the betting are as solid as some people might believe. Nothing has subsequently come close to matching Canford Cliff’s Royal Ascot stroll and the division remains wide open.
Judging by events today it is not good news if you are on a hold-up horse drawn low. If you are on Steinbeck you are guessing that he is both good enough and he can overcome the draw.
Undecided if I will back him but my suggestion would be each-way Awesome Act. Hopefully, he will get the required fast pace and be able to quicken off it.
October 16, 2009 at 23:32 #253695How it this Steinbeck 7/2…..he is very strong for a horse that been off for so long.
I thought that would be a huge drifter….
Silver Grecian is pretty good price it has to be said….the rest are rubbish

Anything highly thought of from Ballydoyle is always gonnae be a low price. Given that nobody knows a great deal, 7/2 could well end up the price of the season. It’s hard to tell.
What price would you have him at ?
October 17, 2009 at 00:28 #253713Yeah it’s difficult to price Steinbeck. My bet’s that he will be given a "Rip Van Winkle"
October 17, 2009 at 01:18 #253729I would have him about a 8/1 shot.
His maiden has not worked out and he has been of for yonks, travelling over on a plane, different ground, new track, unexposed horses running alongside him.
All adds up to a price that isnt 7/2. I believe he will win next year’s Guineas but the price is crazy.
Unless M.V. Magnier has been emptying out the betting account on him as he does frequently. Crimson Sky last week anyone
i can’t understand how he is that price. Other than Ballydoyle connections who be backing this horse at 5.5 on betfair?Chabal is also very weak was 13/8 you can get 5/2 on the ald exchanges.
Strange race betting wise can’t get a angle
October 17, 2009 at 13:17 #253800A subdued Dewhurst which makes me fear for the UK crop once again in 2010. I seriously hope I’m wrong.
It was hard not to be impressed with
Xstension
at Goodwood. As far as I can see, this one is the only horse in the field that has demonstrated the ability to quicken. Has the memorable Canford Cliffs form too.
Some unusual connections in the Dewhurst this year – Cox? Ryan? E O Neill bringing one over from Dieppe? I can remember people queuing up in our local Ladbrokes to back a hyped Vincent O Brien colt called Saratogan – that was when the Dewhurst was a sleepless night race and you worried what the result meant for a week afterward.
This year?
October 17, 2009 at 13:48 #253815Interesting that Magic Sign are only 7/2 Steinbeck
October 17, 2009 at 16:06 #253846After his debut he was my horse to win 2000 guineas though i have Kingsfort as well.I belive Steinbeck will improve a lot next year to win at Newmarket
I think win today as well and though he is 7/2 the reason he is that price and not bigger.Because he is a horse rated very high in Ireland the form is rubbish. But there is a saying in sports.Form is temporay but class is permanent something like that.
October 17, 2009 at 17:13 #253866This is a wierd race…..Chabal 13/8 now 4/1.
Whats going on??.
Maybe this is the reason they sold Chabal….sensational drift on this animal
October 17, 2009 at 17:39 #253872Well there you go, total bunch of crap.
October 17, 2009 at 17:45 #253873Knew you would say that Zark, and I can’t disagree with you there. So which juvenile is the best we’ve seen this season??
October 17, 2009 at 17:48 #253874Amazing race….
The English 2yr old’s are desperate…absoutely desperate crop.
Chabal….oh not looking a good buy now and i would be worried about Kingsfort. Maybe Sheikh Mo picked the wrong national stakes to stick his cash pot in as the form has been reversed when not run on a bog.
Fencing Master looks a machine….he was tailed off after the first 2f and looks a top class animal for Oratorio. Steinbeck ran a great race aswell.
Ballydoyle domination looks assured next year unless Godolphin do ship up there idea’s.
Crazy i would have given Beethoven a 100/1 for today…
WOW!!!!!!
