I tried to find out what had happened to Pescatorio, and last heard he was in America with a guy called Micheal Feriole. He said that he had lameness in a front leg that they were sorting out and that he wouldn’t ‘shedrow’; sounded as if the horse was a bit gone in his head as well as legs. He went on to say that he was a beautiful looking horse and to see him you’d think he was a stakes horse. Oh, how are the mighty fallen; how sad. This was a couple of years ago, don’t know what he’s up to now.
May 9, 2009 at 18:50 #226523No better than ok for AoA, looks like a horse that might do better the stronger the competition but in truth if he was mine I would be thinking of the Curragh now rather than Epsom. Odds of delivering the big Derby payout I hoped for, have reduced.

Shabby, take the 10/1 with Ladbrokes for the St leger, the course, the trip
and the pace will suit Age of Aquarius far more than the Derby, No ground
worries either, he will be 2/1fav come September!May 10, 2009 at 07:03 #226604

If Mourayan reverses places with Fame and Glory on Sunday and wins as Oxx thinks he will then Oxx looks a good thing to win the Derby. One way or the other it will be as Sgt.Schultz said "Very Interesting." to see.
I’m embarrassed to say after STS’s performance in the guineas Mourayan has been my Derby fancy for quite sometime. I noticed HWTH put in a good word for him a long time ago. So I am hoping he and Oxx are both right.
He needs to win impressively but if he does then all hell will be let lose.
See the Stars is too goody two shoes for me whereas Mourayan is a very exciting horse who gives me the impression he’s ready to explode. I can just imagine him taking off at Epsom and leaving everything for dead he looks somewhat special to me.Heads on the chopping block so sharpen your axes but don’t swing too hard if I’m wrong
May 10, 2009 at 12:24 #226610Again, reading between the lines, re: another Johnny Murtagh interview, I would be very surprised if he is not on board Rip Van Winkle come Derby day.
He really likes this horse and thinks this is the best 3 year old colt at Ballydoyle.

May 10, 2009 at 21:22 #226705Jockeys are notoriously bad judges when it comes to picking between rides.I believe the view from the saddle is not as informative as the view from the stand.( I of course exclude LP from this statement.)I would take Aidan any day over the opinion of his stable jockeys.
May 10, 2009 at 21:28 #226710That may be it for Mourayan now Fist

70/1 on Betfair gives the impression it’s highly unlikely Oxx will send him to Epsom and may go single handed with Sea The Stars
On the basis of that I’ve made my first Derby bet based on prices rather than promise (only backed Mourayan previously as I thought he was a fantastic prospect) and I’ve taken Crowded House at 8/1 on the exchange
May 10, 2009 at 21:38 #226717If the Derby was run tomorrow i would be sticking with Gan Amrhas,he will
have too much speed for Fame and Glory and will get 11/2m stood on his head! Black Bear island and Crowded House are the only 2 left to play their hand as far as i can see! If either win well they will be Favourite,
if Crowded house runs like he did in the Racing post he will go 6/4fav, so
anyone out their who still fancys him had better grab the 8"s on betfair!May 10, 2009 at 21:51 #226724If the Derby was run tomorrow i would be sticking with Gan Amrhas,he will

Place in two Guineas, hits the top spot with a big outside in the Victoria Cup and sees decent handicappers go in in the week.
Either way, it’s a competitive Dante and I think the winner will come from that race. All eyes will be on the Dante for something special
May 10, 2009 at 22:07 #226728How important is the date when a horse is foaled when it comes to 3 year olds?
May 10, 2009 at 22:11 #226735How important is the date when a horse is foaled when it comes to 3 year olds?
Not too sure myself Moe but in the articles I was reading in the lead up to the 2000 Guineas the foaling dates all apparently pointed to Zafisio being the best bet.
Read of that what you will. He subsequently finished 2nd today in the German 2000.
May 10, 2009 at 22:17 #226737As W.C Fields once said "You can fool some of the people all the time and that is enough to make a living" So much for the dosage…….
May 10, 2009 at 23:31 #226768Gordon, are you correct to say that Fame And Glory won’t have enough speed for the Derby, given that he has just won impressively over 10f?

Haven’t looked at the Derby, but this is the list I’ve got for the 2000 Guineas
28Feb05 Henrythenavigator
16Mar04 Cockney Rebel
01Mar03 George Washington
15Feb02 Footstepsinthesand
18Feb01 Haafhd
17Mar00 Refuse To Bend
08Mar99 Rock Of Gibraltar
24Feb98 Golan
24Jan97 King’s Best
27Jan96 Island Sands
27Feb95 King Of Kings
07Mar94 Entrepreneur
26Mar93 Mark Of Esteem
26Mar92 Pennekamp
14Feb91 Mister Baileys
01Apr90 Zafonic
27May89 Rodrigo De Triano
01Jan88 Mystiko
12Mar87 Tirol
01Mar86 Nashwan
01Jan85 DoyounHaving TWO on the 1st of January looks a bit suspicious. Maybe the date was massaged?
I’m not sure its saying too much, as the vast majority will be born Jan-Mar won’t they?
The two after March, Zafonic and Rodrigo De Triano, both obtained high RPRs as 2yos.
It must play a part, but those too immature will have already fallen by the wayside for the Derby, won’t they? Maybe being aimed at the King Edward VII and Gordon Stakes instead?

Epsom will catch him out Gerald. the Curragh would suit him fine, you need a horse that can "rail" in the Derby (Gan Amrhas, possibly Crowded
house who has that low down style) Fame is a bit too leggy for me! he will
tie himself into knots!May 11, 2009 at 14:14 #226893It probably makes more of a difference with 2 year olds; a 3 month difference over 24 months must mean a lot of physical development at that age. Must be a nightmare having a horse due to foal at the end of December!
May 11, 2009 at 14:46 #226898No mares foal at the end of December!
