Law of averages … Lol well done David
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
May 1, 2025 at 18:55 #1728897I know he puts plenty of money into the game, he pays the bills so he can do what he wants etc.
But if you want to know why should never back anything he rides, watch the last race at Punchestown today. He let the horse drift over almost the entire width of the track and looked awful in the saddle. A competent jockey would have won decisively.
May 1, 2025 at 19:23 #1728899As Ruby said after the race, anyone who backs a horse ridden by Maxwell knows what they’re getting.
May 1, 2025 at 19:48 #1728905Walsh described Maxwell as a “Corinthian Amateur”. Which is a polite way of saying he is not a jockey.
The pro-Maxwell side of the argument has been made plenty of times before. But is it all getting beyond a joke now?
This is meant to be elite level sport. Maxwell’s ride was utterly incompetent. He looked awful and he clearly cannot pull his whip through. Something which should be a basic skill for any rider.
As I said, there is no way I would back anything he rides. But punters ought to be able to expect basic competence. This horse wasn’t a no hoper, it was a 9/2 chance.
I don’t see anything fun in him letting his horses down time and time again.
May 4, 2025 at 09:04 #1729387Should have got a non trier ban, there is an onus on a jockey to not let the horse run “unassisted” I believe ?
September 15, 2025 at 16:41 #1740062Didn’t realise he had broken his back that many times, so he clearly is as tough as nails and it is just a shame that he couldn’t go out on his own terms and also rather sad that he will be selling all his horses as he can”t bear to see others riding them.
Not everyones cup of tea clearly but as Philip Hobbs said: “He’s been great as an owner, jockey and an ambassador to racing. It was always great seeing him interviewed on the TV. He was very capable and he was the last of the Corinthians.
September 15, 2025 at 17:20 #1740063Anyone know what horse he owns, hopefully they will fall into the right hands for there futures

September 15, 2025 at 19:28 #1740070Good luck to him, wise decision to retire before any further injuries.
September 15, 2025 at 19:52 #1740075VF – he has a couple of promising youngsters in El Cairos (trained by Gary & Josh Moore) and Off The Jury (Alan King). It’ll be interesting to see where they end up.
September 15, 2025 at 22:00 #1740081Maxwell was an anachronism, and I am not sure the sport will see his like again. I know some people will view that as a good thing, but I will miss him.
VF – Possibly Cat Tiger would be the most well-known of Maxwell’s horses in recent seasons. He was placed in the 2021 and 2022 Aintree Foxhunters’. Lord Du Mesnil also came into his ownership this year.
September 15, 2025 at 22:14 #1740083Thanks Gladiator and Marlingford and I could possibly see Lord du Mesnil maybe one of the ones to retire. Be interesting seeing if cat tiger has another year, if sold on or retires he being 11yrs would be 12 new year

September 15, 2025 at 23:40 #1740127Wasn’t El Cairos the one they said was burning up the gallops prior to Cheltenham?
September 16, 2025 at 05:27 #1740149The bookies will be devastated …. Hey it’s his money but to call him a jockey is akin to me once sitting in a Colin McCraes car and calling myself a rally driver …

October 8, 2025 at 08:12 #1741442Details of the forthcoming sale now online:
October 8, 2025 at 11:06 #1741450“Can’t bear seeing others ride his horses”?
So he’s going to sell them all instead.
Very 2025.
