Thanks Raymo, I suppose he had to go for it but I felt sick for you when he
found the water. You hit the crossbar again this week mate, one unfortunate
shot at the end was probably all that was between us. It shows how well we’re
doing when we have the winner, 3rd and 4th between the 3 of us. You’re turn
can’t be far offMarch 2, 2020 at 00:02 #1484396That is three weeks running by my reckoning you have had the winner in the US !!
That is some tipping mateMarch 2, 2020 at 00:22 #1484398Thanks Raymo, it’s been a good spell for me, and you’re right, Scott, Reed and Im
on the PGA main tour these last 3 weeks, and Hovland winning in Peurto Rico last week
didn’t do me any harm eitherMarch 2, 2020 at 15:29 #1484421Well done BigG with IM happy for you mate hope keep it up this week as you been in good form in last 3weeks this week bets out now
March 2, 2020 at 15:43 #1484423Bets for Arnold Palmer invitational
BRYSON DECHAMBEAU 18/1
Was 2nd here few years behind Rory and can go one place better this week he has now found form again unlike last year and a case for saying should won in Mexico was 2ahead with 4 to play but sadly not but can win this week.
BYEOUNG HUN AN 50/1
Last 2years been 14th and 10th here and play well last week to birdie 1st 4holes on sunday at Honda classic tough thing to do but again unable to get over the line in front a issue for him but expect him to give himself another chance this week.
CAMERON CHAMP 140/1
Last 3bets are young kids with bundles of potential this kid a 2time winner on PGA when made debut here last year was in bad form but better form now this a course about power and got stacks of it to.
MAVERICK MC NEALEY 150/1
This maverick a fave of mine at moment a young player who will go well this week got course form was 46th here 4 years ago since then a much improved player with 5th place finishes in Pebble beach and Farmers suggest this kid is more than able in top field like this.
MATTHEW WOLFF 160/1
Before 3M open folks were saying that Bay hill a course to look at for form and if they right then the winner of that event has to be added here.Way he held Morikawa and De Chambeau showed a kid full of class and bottle to do what he did.
March 2, 2020 at 16:00 #1484425Qatar masters
GEORGE COETZEE 33/1
Finish final round last week with 6under fine play by him which set him nicely for a return to a venue that suits him so well.Twice been 2nd here and 5th as well this the week can end him with getting hands on trophy playing so well he is.
ADRI ARNAUS 40/1
This guy loves events in the gulf on 1st visit here last year was 14th 12months on expect him to improve on that form a MC last week but can bounce back from that.
ANTOINE ROZNER 100/1
Was close to winning on tour last year in Maurituis but while it true making course debut here this type of test will suit him and like Coetzee also finish well in Oman on sunday to say a bold run on the cards this week.
SEAN CROCKER 150/1
This powerful american is not one to give up on was 28th on debut but can be upgraded as a nightmare final round of 76 finish well done but apart from that had 3rounds in the 60s and is getting closer to breaking his duck.
SEBASTIAN HESSILE 175/1
2 Years ago here he was 8th and now back on the european tour he showed enough signs of decent form in desert events this year and coming back here be fine for him can go well at big price
Good luck guys this week as well and hope Grimes pops in soon to
March 3, 2020 at 15:07 #1484505Qatar Masters
Gavin Green 30/1 (45/1 1st round leader market)
He’s still looking for that 1st elusive win on the European Tour, but it’s
not for the lack of trying with a string top 20s and 10s last year and this.
He seems to like it in the gulf, he played really well to finish T3 in the
Saudi International last month and T18 in the Oman Open last week. I think
he will go well here and I do think he’s closing in on that 1st win.Haotong Li 33/1 (50/1 1st round leader market)
I had Li in my team last week in the Oman Open. He didn’t get off to the
best of starts, not helped by a double bogey at the 18th although he did
well to improve and eventually finishe T18. He didn’t compete in this last
year, but he did well out here last year T12 in the Dubai Desert Classic
and runner up in the Saudi International. Hopefully he can improve on his
T18 last week in a corner of the world he seems to do well.Guido Migliozzi 50/1 (50/1 1st round leader market)
I was a bit sick when Guido ran away with the 1st round last week in Oman at
80/1. He’s a player I’ve backed a few times expecting him to improve on his
2 wins on the Tour but had left him out last week. Fortunately for me he
didn’t win, he was 100/1, but wasn’t far off in 4th. He’s obviously in good
form and I’m not taking the chance that he improves on last week and carries
this off, he’s capable of it.Lorenzo Gagli 125/1 (125/1 1st round leader market)
I’ve never had a punt on him before, and he didn’t do to well out here last
year missing the cut, but I was quite impressed by his game last week in
Oman. Barring a bit of a slip in the 3rd round, he would have finished closer
that the T10 that he did. Even so, it was a very solid round and at these
odds I’m prepared to take the chance that he might just step up on that this
week. Thanks for the congratulations Darren, I also hope I can keep it going this week,
I’ll give it a shotI’ll get my Arnold Palmer Invitational update on shortly, and I also hope we hear
how Grimes is getting on. I hope you’re well mateMarch 4, 2020 at 11:48 #1484567Here are mine for this week. On all known form they will be there until the final round then fall away !!
ARNOLD PALMER
M FITZPATRICK 40/1
A ANCER 55/1
C SCHWARTZEL 90/1
A LONG 150/1QATAR MASTERS
G COETZEE 28/1
J HARDING 55/1
A CANIZARES 80/1
H PORTEOUS 125/1
Good Luck Guys and sorry Darren for picking CoetzeeMarch 4, 2020 at 13:51 #1484577Arnold Palmer Invitational
Bryson DeChambeau 18/1 (28/1 1st round leader market)
Ignore him at your peril. When DeChambeau is at the top of his game he’s a
match for anyone, and he looks to be heading back to that level. A T5 at the
Genesis was followed last time out with runner up in Mexico. He shot 2 terrific
rounds of 63 and 65 and his confidence is right back. I think he’s great value
at 18s.Sungjae Im 25/1 (35/1 1st round leader market)
He’s been one of my favourites for a while and he came good last week in the Honda
Classic. At 21 he’s got the golfing world at his feet and I think he will run up
a string of tournament wins. It may not be this one, but he’s not the type to go
pissing it up to celebrate, John Daly he is not, so I’m not puting it past him
doing well here. Rare as back to back wins are, I think he’s worth a go.Collin Morikawa 50/1 (50/1 1st round leader market)
He’s another of the young brigade who is just waiting to burst through. Unlike
Sungjae he hasn’t had his breakthrough yet, although he came close last year
when runner up in the 3M Open. He’s only had the 1 top 10 this year, and quite
a few just outside the top 20, but he’s going the right direction. He has played
in this before, but as an amateur back in 2018. He did well to play all 4 rounds
and that will have given him an idea of how it plays here.Christiaan Bezuidenhout 125/1 (100/1 1st round leader market)
I think he’s an exciting player and I don’t think the bookies have cottoned on
to how good he can be. It was only last month that he romped off with the
Dimension Data Pro Am in South Africa, opening up with a blistering round of 61.
It was only in the month previous to that that he was runner up in the Dubai
Desert Classic. Last time out in the WGC Mexico Championship he did well enough
finishing T29 with a good closing round of 67. So why he is 125/1 8 places with
Sky and Paddy Power I don’t know. I think he’s a great bet. That’s me done this week, I don’t think there has been a week in the last good
few that we haven’t all been in there pitching on the Sunday. I don’t see why
this week should be any different. Good luck guysMarch 5, 2020 at 23:46 #1484689Hi Graham
Yes, thank you, old chap. I’m fine, given that old age never comes on its own ! I haven’t dared to yield to my love of the challenge of pitting my wits agin the bookies, as I’ve never been able to win an argument against God. So my daily challenges are now limited to tying up my shoe-laces and not falling over when stepping of a kerb more than 3″ high. I don’t mind staggeriing around for a bit. But I have to wait until oncomng traffic is half a mile away or more, and then make a mad dash (like one of those American quarter horses !) to t’other side of the road – where I hang on to railings or whatever’s there, until I get my breath back. A bit like a game of chicken, I suppose. Especially with the trams we now have to contend with as well, in Auld Reekie.
I like to keep up with what you lads are getting up to, though, so I was tickled to see you’ve been winning hand over fist, Gray. Uncle Darren will have to look to his laurels. But seriously, you’re all great sports and do like to see each other winning, even if your own picks gang doon. As long, I expect, as it doesn’t happen TOO often…! Though when all’s said and done, it would be better than seeing the bookies trousering everything, even so. Also, good to see Raymo, (and MOM a while back), back in there swinging. Anyway, I’ve still got two bets on the Scotch lad to be the new James Bond, and rightly or wrongly, I’m hopeful. I wish they’d make up their mind and tell us who it will be.
Anyway, continue with the good form, lads. Exciting stuff. And thanks, as ever, for your kind wishes.
Every best wish to y’all, then, until another time.
GrimesMarch 6, 2020 at 01:33 #1484692Great to hear from you Grimes, and glad to hear you’re still treading the cobbles
in ‘Auld Reekie, just watch out for those trams, they are quiet enough to sneak
up on youI’m glad you’re still keeping an eye on us, although I know the Big Yin has removed
your bookies pen from you, and when he tells you enough is enough you gotta listen.
You’re right, I’ve been going through a bit of a purple patch that thankfully has
lasted for a while, and this week has started off well enough with Lorenzo Gagly
at 125/1 in the 1st round betting in Qatar, he finished joint 3rd so a very nice E/W.
I’ve kept my good luck going on the other side of the pond too with Christiaan
Bezuidenhout joint 5th in the 1st round betting at 100/1, albeit places cut a bit
but still a nice winner. As you said Grimes, we’re a tight group in here so as long as some of us are winning,
and we all have equal shares in that, then we’re happy. We might mump and moan
(Raymo’s moans are legendary) and throw our toys oot the pram at times, but it’s a
good laugh taking the mick at times and then patting each other on the back when
the golfing Gods smile on us. I don’t know how many people, probably many not members,
tune into Darren’s Forum, but with the number of hits it gets, it certainly doesn’t go
unnoticed. Hopefully others might be making a few bob out of us, and anyone interested
in the tennis would be bloody mad not to follow Darren, it’s almost obscene the way he
skins the bookies (I said almost).Good to hear from you again Grimes, pop in any time you fancy, you’re very welcome as
you well know. Take good care of yourself mateMarch 6, 2020 at 20:54 #1484756Looks tough going in the States !! One of mine just shot EIGHTY after being three under after round one I don’t think any of mine ae going to make the cut!!
By the way nice to hear from Grimes
Us minions still hanging onto Graham and Darren’s coat tails Grimes
Lots of close but no cigars and plenty of raymo moans too Grimes!!Keep well our old friend and remember smiling uses less muscles than frowning!!
March 7, 2020 at 10:52 #1484795You at it again in the States Graham !! Three in the top fifteen or so after two rounds
March 7, 2020 at 16:22 #1484873Cheers Raymo, I’m hopeful I’ll still have something to shout about come Sunday. Your man
Long could still be in the shake up at 1 under and 6 back, but he needs to move on
moving day. It’s been a good weekend so far, hopefully it can carry on before Cheltenham.March 7, 2020 at 21:50 #1484888Thanks for the kind thoughts, Ray ; but the harder things have become, the more easily smiling, laughter and banter have come, in between, even during the Gospel readings (not in a an irreligious way – just in the recognisably- human foibles of the characters, including the Boss Man). So, maybe I should frown and fret more….. and give my muscles some exercise ! Perhaps the face muscles’d be better than nowt.
(mad as ever!)
March 8, 2020 at 12:09 #1484924Nice to see you again Grimes and hope things ok to mate
BigG the tennis for me this year a letdown so far only 2winners in Monfills 5/1 Garin 11/1 this time last year was on 7 mate. But a glimmer of hope tonight is Bouzkova at 20/1 in final though up against top seed of compettion in Svitolina
Though Indian wells next week and it biggest event outside the majors who knows may ask you if you have a bet there
Any views on golf tonight DE Chambeau my best hope he is
March 8, 2020 at 14:41 #1484946I’ve got DeChambeau too Darren, he needs to play some round or Hatton needs to come
back to the field for him to win I think. He’s capable of shooting low and getting
into the clubhouse giving them something to think about. I’ve got Morikawa on the same
score as Dechambeau, level par. He has the same problem as DeChambeau, but without the
class and experience of Dechambeau. I’d settle for an E/W at 50/1 with him. I’m more
hopeful that Sungjae Im or Christiaan Bezuidenhout at 3 under might just haul Hatton in.
Bezuidenhout would suit me better as he’s 125/1. I’ve got him 8 places with Skybet, so at
T3 at the moment I’d be hopeful for at least a place. I think of those 2 that Sungjae has
the best chance, he’s got a win under his belt already so hopefully he can keep the nerves
in check a bit better. All to play for, let’s hope we’re in the money
