February 8, 2021 at 23:40 #1522270Unfortunately Tank, can’t read that report on Sweden by Spiked Magazine (a libertarian anti-lockdown mag’). Suggest you look at a wider array of Swedish reporting and evidence based statistics comparing neighbouring Scandanavian countries.
Sweden does have the largest population and second in density of population, but they are surely not big enough to justify the much higher number of deaths compared to other Scandanavian countries.
According to Wikipedia demographics of 2019:
Sweden population just over 10 million, density 22 per square kilometre.
Finland and Norway have very similar figures of around 5 1/2 million population with density around 17 per sq km.
Denmark around 5 3/4 million but a density much larger 134 per sq km (over 6 times the density of Sweden)…According to Statistica:
Up to February 2nd Sweden’s number of Covid deaths stood at 11,939
Denmark 2,184
Finland 688
Norway 582I think evidence suggests Sweden’s non-lockdown policy isn’t exactly working.

I’m pretty sure it addressed the density subject and made some good points. I’ve always thought that our lockdowns here have done more harm than good, much more.

Value Is EverythingFebruary 24, 2021 at 18:23 #1525216I’d just like to point out that being ridiculed for being so upset at the death of my friend from covid was pretty hurtful. And in no way do I intend to regard it as a bit of fun.
February 24, 2021 at 19:12 #1525221Sorry to hear of your loss of a friend Moe.
A couple people I know ended up in hospital with covid and made it home also my brother in-law tested positive for covid but was able to recover at home although took a long time and still gets out of breath when doing simple tasks such as washing up or changing the bed covers.
Certainly no jokeGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
February 24, 2021 at 21:17 #1525236Sorry about your loss Moehat, I’m lucky in that nobody I know as died from Covid, but did attend my Aunt’s funeral on Zoom on Monday. Would have liked to attend in person but with restrictions thought this was best. I certainly don’t think Covid is a joke which is why I’m keeping out of this topic. Getting my first jab tomorrow and hopefully we’re all get back to normal.

Don't mess with mister in between.February 24, 2021 at 21:45 #1525238Sorry about your Aunt RR77. It was Tanks comments from December that I was referring to. They really upset me. I wasn’t able to reply at the time as I couldn’t log on. Most people I’ve spoken to feel pretty emotional when they get their first jab. I’m not the most tactile of people in general but I just wanted to hug everyone! I missed a phone call from my surgery calling me in for the vaccine the week before and was distraught so was hugely relieved when they phoned to say I could go in the following week.
February 24, 2021 at 23:38 #1525253Sorry to hear about your friend, Moe. Couldn’t have been easy for you. Hope your daughter hasn’t got any long covid symptoms too. Being a diabetic I was upset with Tank’s apparent non-caring attitude yesterday too. However, know I sometimes struggle with showing enough empathy (a psychological / social thing) and it may be the same with Tank.
Take care.
Value Is EverythingFebruary 24, 2021 at 23:52 #1525256Tank’s attitude to those suffering with Covid has been crass in my opinion, but he’s not the only one on here. Not affecting me personally I thought it’s not my place to say otherwise. However back tracking what he said he knew your friend was hospitalize due to covid, yet still made crass remarks.

Even though Tank said he was only joking afterwards, a joke stops being funny when it hurts somebody and
I hope Tank will do the respectful thing and apologise to Moe one of our kindest and most respected posters.
