Commentary in the 2.32 at Leopardstown. Has he gone even madder than usual?
April 15, 2026 at 17:51 #1763710Sounds like one of the students put a mouse inside his shirt as a prank

Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
April 15, 2026 at 20:15 #1763731Starts at around 2:25 (3rd race)
April 15, 2026 at 20:30 #1763733I was listening to it this afternoon. He was mimicking the Dominos advert ( which I hate anyway…) so I checked out the horses in the race and none of them were called Domino or anything like it. And then he made some sort of weird joke at the end of another race that made no sense either. (Having just watched the replays it was Bang Bang or BANG BANG !!!!)

It was the name of the race. Agree he sounded absolutely mental doing it but fair dues he got into the spirit of the thing.
April 15, 2026 at 23:30 #1763753Thanks. Now it makes sense ( she says mimicking the M&M’s advert but without the biting bit).
April 16, 2026 at 04:41 #1763757I dislike his commentaries at the best of times.
At the start of some of the jumps races, it sounds like he can’t be arsed to even do the commentary, but does so under duress.
Then when he does start, it’s the usual monotonous drone through the order of horses, same again, but with the jockeys names added, pop in the race name and sponsor and that’s pretty much it, but regurgitated……..unless of course there is any semblance of a close finish and then it can get quite frightful.
April 16, 2026 at 07:15 #1763761Don’t forget how in jumps races he usually says “They’ve gone past their place of departure”.
Occasionally he says something bizarre. I recall when a horse was clear but made an awkward shape over the last fence and he said it had “jumped it like a bag of hammers”.

ROARING BULL!!
That commentary was quite funny, to be fair. Even though he only noticed ROARING BULL about ten yards from the finish.
April 16, 2026 at 10:31 #1763781I watched a ‘best of Jerry Hannon’ on utube and I’m sure that in one race he called Monkfish Monksh*t but I do need to listen to it again to be certain.
