Good luck when you lump on Bankable in his next foray into Pattern or Group 3 company reet, I suspect you will need it.
To use the Passage of Time "Group 1" tag is totally misleading. As I have already stated, she won her Group 1 the season before last, and in every Gp 1 event since she has been beaten. Her form has been on a downward curve since the Musidora, and by scraping home in a weak looking Listed race, she hardly signalled a return to the Group 1 level of form you are implying.
Again, best of luck to you if you think she is back to her best, and is going to win the Nassau. Unless it turns into one of the weakest renewals of that race since it was granted Group 1 status, she will be lucky to get near the places.
Two nailed on lays for me next time up.
That is all your opinion.
I just posted the facts!July 22, 2008 at 00:48 #174110Firefox,
It is a bit silly to say Bankable is a nailed on lay when you do not know what price he will be.
I have not been a fan of Bankable, saturday, Ascot and at Goodwood I thought his prices have been too short for what he’s done. But next time he runs in a group race (or any other race) I will decide whether his price is worth backing or backing against.
Things are not black and white. If you think Saturdays race was a "weak" affair, what if he runs in another weak group race and is available at 20/1?
Is he still a lay?Reet, Referance Point and many others have good points based on facts which you seem to ignore, only considering the facts you want to.

Value Is EverythingJuly 22, 2008 at 12:55 #174167Bankable will win a Group race, and the above doubters will say it was a group race in name only and full of handicappers etc, same as they did when he hacked up in a listed race.
July 22, 2008 at 14:49 #174194Do you still think Saturday’s performance "proves you were right" that Bankable wasnt unlucky at Ascot?
July 22, 2008 at 15:17 #174205Haven´t posted on here a lot but would like to add to the conversation.
Fact is that fillies are very fickle and much more difficult to keep in the right mood. She clearly wasn´t right so far this season, and had every right to beat Bankable, who, after all, hasnt got ANY Group form, let alone Gr. I form. Surely POT did not show "Group 1 " form as such on sat., but she didn´t need to to beat Bankable, as not only did she come from a nice break, she also received so much weight. Clearly Bankable was a ridiculous price, people obviously wanted to recoup some losses from Ascot.
Coming back to the fillies thing – what I mean is never judge a horse purely on some formfacts and figures. This is true for every other handicapper who comes good when laid out, and it is very true for fillies – never forget their best form!

Yes. Saturday’s form is a suspect as you can get in the grade, and it remains to be seen if Bankable is a genuine Pattern class performer.
Time will only tell if I am right or you.
Well time has already told me that Bankable was very well handicapped off 99 based on his previous and subsequent achievements. You seem to think he needs to win a Group race to prove that – I don’t (although I think he is quite capable of doing just that)
July 22, 2008 at 16:05 #174215i am loving this debate just as well bankable cant write in fact it would be nice to hear from luca cumani i wonder if forum members would accept his opinion
July 22, 2008 at 16:19 #174218Well according to Timeform and the RPRs then the ref has already stopped this fight firefox.
…but you are of course entitled to hold whatever opinion you want about the horse.
July 22, 2008 at 16:31 #174224i would completely agree the horses future performances will tell us how good he is he is with the right trainer to get the best out of him but i do hope he gets easier ground i think he may be one of those animals who will be much better with soft ground
July 22, 2008 at 16:49 #174228It pays to be wary of high RPR’s awarded in Listed races for weight concession. Even taking the 119 at face value, I reckon thats as good as he is on fast ground.
August 22, 2008 at 21:24 #177729Bankable with getting shafted like Nick Leason did too Berrings.
August 22, 2008 at 22:33 #177737If there is any cut in the ground I am sticking with *ankable.
It looks like a 2 horse race (famous last words) and I feel if he can stride on he may take the sting out of Raven’s Pass.
I respect John Gosden’s runner but feel *ankable is just waiting to prove how good he really is…
Of course, if the price is silly…say shorter than 2/1…then I prob won’t play as there seems little point.

August 23, 2008 at 11:39 #177790Unless you can back him after he’s won, of course.
August 23, 2008 at 12:17 #177798If there is any justice ravens pass should win he does deserve a decent race it should however tell us how good bankable is as ground and distance ok.
August 23, 2008 at 12:33 #177803"*ankable."
Have you got a faulty keyboard, Zip?

August 23, 2008 at 15:33 #177832Another very good show from Bankable – just came up against a better horse on the day. Clearly well up to pattern race winning standard though…
August 25, 2008 at 16:49 #178137I duly lost £23 squids on the beast.
Problem is, he keeps running well but not winning!
Knowing the bookies, he’ll be a crap price when he has his next "winnable" race,
Well done to Ravens Pass, best horsey won.
I would like to see *ankable try and make the running and stretch the oppo, I do not feel waiting to "pounce" with him is playing to his strengths.
