“Not sure why CH is being called a morning glory…”
Because greenasgrass, as Ian has pointed out, has got the meaning of the term wrong.
April 15, 2022 at 15:32 #1593782I googled ‘morning glory’ for a more precise definition, and it means….. something else

April 15, 2022 at 18:31 #1593826Arguably a tenuous link, but I will be interested to see how Aucunrisque gets on off 133 at Plumpton on Sunday.
If he goes close, it’s arguable Jonbon should be on 155 and Constitution Hill in turn on 177.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"April 15, 2022 at 18:40 #1593828It’s a quick turnaround for Aucunrisque after his Aintree run. He could bomb out completely; it wouldn’t mean that the Jonbon form then becomes worthless.
April 15, 2022 at 19:02 #1593830Fair comment – I am a bit surprised to see him out again so soon, but then his whole campaign has surprised me a bit and he’s owned by a firm of bookmakers with a profile at the track.
A bookmaker/professional gambler friend of mine knows the owners and suggested the horse go for the Imperial Cup off 126 before Kempton.
To be fair, he won the Dovecote before running at Aintree but the win saw him raised to 133 and he’s possibly not so well treated now.

Henderson will already be working back from Cheltenham and a match at this stage in CH career with Honeysuckle won’t be on the agenda. Hope I’m wrong but he’s already been making noises which isn’t a good signGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
April 16, 2022 at 10:38 #1593966Much though we like to see racehorses race, Nicky Henderson has trained 72 Cheltenham Festival winners.
SEVENTY TWO.
Mind boggling really.
No one has such a successful myopic focus on producing winners at that meeting and has such a successful blueprint for it.
For once, given my only financial interest in all this is my 3/1 the horse for the 2023 Champion Hurdle, I am selfishly relaxed about the idea of hardly sighting the horse before next March.
Fighting Fifth next time out?
Maybe.
Christmas Hurdle at Kempton after?
Possible.
That race at Sandown in February which is an ideal Festival prep and isn’t usually that strong a field?
Probably the ONLY race Henderson would actually be keen to run him in before the Champion Hurdle.

When I was in the shop in Cheltenham on Wednesday I saw scarves in the colours of various big race winners at the festival. I hope they order a lot of black and white scarves from their supplier so everyone can wave them when the Hill storms up the hill next March!
April 17, 2022 at 16:47 #1594242And in goes Aucunrisque off 133!
Form franked!

April 18, 2022 at 11:44 #1594357For the first time possibly ever, I’m glad tbh.
I have no doubt he would have beaten Honeysuckle, but the 2023 Champion Hurdle is the priority – my ante-post bet says so!
Newcastle, Kempton, Sandown is the maximum campaign I expect we will see and I’d only be absolutely certain of Sandown.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"April 18, 2022 at 11:46 #1594359No, it’s not a surprise, and to be honest, I’m not that bothered. However, what does bother me is that we might only see them clash at Cheltenham. Is that the only Gd1 Hurdle? What about any of these; Fighting Fifth, Christmas, Morgiana, Leopardstown Christmas Hurdle, Irish Champion Hurdle…
That is why we have a season; a series of clashes between the top horses. Not one match up at Cheltenham.
April 18, 2022 at 11:49 #1594360“I have no doubt he would have beaten Honeysuckle.”
I doubted it. But in 2023 every chance. ;o)
April 18, 2022 at 11:49 #1594361If I owned Honeysuckle I’d consider going Mares Chasing next season, build up a sequence, be one of a select few winning 3 difference races at the Cheltenham Festival, and barring accidents finish a career with 19 out of 19 or 20 out of 20.
April 18, 2022 at 11:51 #1594362Looking forward to reading the Nicky Henderson should retire immediately after this decision posts..
