This one aged really well…. Two months old means a few days before the Fighting Fifth:
January 22, 2026 at 11:34 #1751229It’s a sad state of affairs when you see the very first post on this thread to where we’re at now. The talk of one of the best hurdlers we’ve ever seen, to contemplating how he’ll get on in a flat race at Southwell. It’s a funny old game!
January 24, 2026 at 15:34 #1751628Will Southwell racecourse still get their star turn? Or will we hear some waffle about him “schooling so well over hurdles that he just has to run in the Kingwell” ?
January 24, 2026 at 15:50 #1751650Jesus imagine if they pull him , will Southwell sue
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
January 24, 2026 at 15:54 #1751652This is building up to be another nightmare and the BHA will be responsible with Hendo, Nico and co.
The Southwell event is shaping up to be an absolute circus and then we have Nico getting back on board in the Champion Hurdle after falling 3 times in a row on the horse.
I can’t see this ending well. This great horse deserves better than these clowns.January 24, 2026 at 15:56 #1751657“… will Southwell sue”
On what grounds? There’s no contract signed, to the best of my knowledge.
January 24, 2026 at 16:06 #1751659It was tongue in cheek , if there’s no hill can they adjust the prize money , if not a very average horse is going to win a right nice prize , on a serious note Henderson has to stop going from one crisis to the next , how can you have success without a solid plan , would Mullins do this , no chance
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
January 24, 2026 at 16:44 #1751687Don’t think Mullins has ever faced the quandary of a talented Champion hurdler who has forgotten how to jump. Stick to the Southwell plan and then see. A change of jockey might be an option as the connection between NDB and the horse isn’t working for whatever reason(Cobden ?). The injury to Sir Gino will surely tempt them now – Buckley is a bit of an arrogant ass who will convince himself they can beat TNL and Lossie, so I reckon CH will line up in March unless he runs badly at Southwell.
Golden Ace yard will think the double is definitely on now.January 24, 2026 at 16:48 #1751689He has to place loads of talented horses , he does , he just a much more professional , emotionless trainer
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
January 24, 2026 at 16:55 #1751694I can’t imagine Constitution Hill running over obstacles again. That chapter is finished, imo.
How can you be confident with Nico riding him?January 24, 2026 at 16:57 #1751696If he ran and fell then all hell would break loose
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
January 24, 2026 at 17:05 #1751704Nico will 100% fall off him in the Champion Hurdle again if he’s onboard and it’ll totally ruin the day.
Shouldn’t be allowed to run full stop if using a flat race as a prep. The whole thing is outrageous.
If that horse has a fatal fall in the Champion Hurdle. Mark my words, the anti’s will be out in force, lying down on the home straight and clinging to the fences on Wednesday.
The BHA are just asking for trouble.
January 24, 2026 at 17:08 #1751706It would finish Nicky
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
January 24, 2026 at 17:12 #1751708IF he should make it to Southwell then ask yourself if he’ll enter the stalls. That’s far from certain, imo.
January 24, 2026 at 17:13 #1751709It’d be a blessing if he didn’t Ruby but being a 9yo gelding, I’d guess he’ll go in fine.
January 24, 2026 at 17:15 #1751710Are there any news about his preparation? I’m sure he might take him to Southwell for a pre-race workout where they could also practice entering the stalls.
January 24, 2026 at 17:16 #1751712I think they should probably just retire him now as it’s too risky for the sport if something bad happens the horse. It’ll be headline news.
If he’s to be allowed to run in the Champion Hurdle, it’s got to be the Kingwell with new jockey and a set of cheekpieces on beforehand. If he can’t get around there then should be retired on the spot.
