Some books shortening next years champ into 7/4 now, don’t blame them! Best national hunt horse since Sprinter Sacre and could well be better!
April 8, 2022 at 18:01 #1592123I’m with you, Ben.
I never fall for hype, but I will fall for what I can see for myself.
Form franked today.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"April 9, 2022 at 08:15 #1592284Did third (OR 141), fourth (133) and fifth (147) all run below form yesterday?
Bit of a stretch to believe THAT.
The least flattering way to realistically rate the race IMO is through the OR 133 fourth and that entitles Jonbon to be rated 155 – hence Constitution Hill 177!

April 11, 2022 at 20:00 #1593086Well worth Constitution Hill taking his chance at Punchestown if Henderson believes the horse is still in the same form.
If CH beats H well, then connections of the Irish mare may well decide to retire her to the paddocks. Leaving the way for CH to be odds-on for the big race at Cheltenham next year.
Value Is EverythingApril 11, 2022 at 20:04 #1593087If Constitution Hill slams Honeysuckle at Punchestown and the mare is retired, next year’s Champion Hurdle will be CH v whatever Mullins throws at him.
Nothing else will bother turning up.
April 11, 2022 at 21:10 #1593102Once Constitution Hill has retired Honeysuckle and hammered Trueshan and Stradavinsky in the Gold Cup at an overwatered Royal Ascot, the remainder of the summer, autumn and winter can be spent cheerily gazing daily at ante-post slips reading 3s a 3s on shot.
Life really is that simple.

April 12, 2022 at 00:58 #1593140Before Frankel ruthlessly defeated Canford Cliffs in ‘The Duel on the Downs’…
Prior to Dancing Brave putting Bering to the sword in the 1986 Arc…
Leading up to Sprinter Sacre reclaiming his crown in the 2016 Queen Mother Champion Chase…
I have that very same intuition that Constitution Hill will anesthetize Honeysuckle should they clash at Punchestown.
April 12, 2022 at 05:27 #1593151Love to know how Rachel is planning to try and beat him …. We didn’t get the champ chase clash but this would more than make up for it

April 12, 2022 at 13:36 #1593213It might just be the greatest ante post win in forum history come 11 months time

April 12, 2022 at 13:50 #1593217If I’m going to make a right Charlie of myself over a horse, one who won the Supreme by 22 lengths last time out, from a subsequent Grade 1 winner, in almost six seconds faster time than the Champion Hurdle, is good a horse as any to do it over.
I may even change my forum signature to: “The Right Honourable Charles” for a month by way of TRF atonement.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"April 12, 2022 at 14:01 #1593218ID – In the unlikely event Henderson runs him at Punchestown, how far does he have to beat Honeysuckle to justify the hype?

April 12, 2022 at 14:15 #1593222In the same way that Mr Kipling makes exceedingly good cakes, Lord Tatling asks exceedingly good questions.
Honeysuckle has an OR of 165, Constitution Hill will have to run to at least 173 to beat the mare if she’s in peak form.
Timeform (not directly comparable to OR but it will have to do) rate Night Nurse the all-time best at 182.
If Constitution Hill wins, even by a nose, it will be a remarkable achievement for an inexperienced novice hurdler.
If he wins decisively – by over a length – he promises to be a well above average Champion Hurdler.
If, as a relative novice still, he slaughters her by three lengths or more, I will expect his TRF doubters to collectively start giving up their weekends to work on a life-size papier-mâché statue of him, made out of their losing betting slips, of which they no doubt own many.
Fair?
