As I said AJ,
In Paul Roy’s case the amount of money involved probably makes it a "conflict" too far. So yes, I’d rather he resigned, just don’t think its as clear cut as some make out.
There is no doubt every faction within racing fights its corner in (primarily) their own "best interests". That’s why we get the problems we do. For sure small owners have less "interest", but the big guns surely do have a "conflict". Why is that "nonsense"?
Value Is EverythingOctober 27, 2010 at 12:13 #324851It is actually trivial in the sense that £5 million equates to 0.33% of the company

Alan Lee wrote about the situation in yesterdays Times
Below is a small extract." This has been a bad year for the BHA and, by implication, for Roy. The governing body has seen its control of the sport unravelled by other factions, while pursuing questionable disciplinary charges against Aiden O’Brien and Harry Findlay.
The O’Brien case could yet have a volatile conclusion in December, while Findlay, straining against legal barriers, continues to harbour serious allegations over the conduct of the BHA and its chairman.
Such matters were never likely to jeopardise Roy’s position but the present imbroglio may do so."
Lydia Hislop has also been quite vocal on RUK and Twitter
October 27, 2010 at 16:22 #324908Of course Roy should resign, or be pushed. But it seems that nobody –
nobody
… with the honourable media exceptions of Nick Luck and John McCririck … is putting any pressure on him to do so. That’s the most depressing part of this business.

(second part)
And the platform on which this appears is Betfair, a company of which Roy indirectly now owns a small part.
I had previously targeted Roy and Coward for their incompetence, but I have to admit that the former caught me by surprise with this particular display of arrogant crassness.

Blue Chariot
and
Prufrock
, thank you. I’m glad to know that more than a couple of media pros are on the case, and not letting go just yet. Let us hope that something is going on behind the closed doors of the BHA. The silence is deafening.
October 27, 2010 at 17:45 #324931Call me a cynic about press releases from The Pauls, but…
4.55pm Graham Cunningham’s out of breath – BIG NEWS….there’s a press release.
Quick stop talking about the upcoming race and concentrate on this.
All eyes on the bombshell – then you find out it’s just the umpttenth instalment of nonsense about a strike. Apparently they’re threatening to have a few blanks Sundays pencilled in for next year, like they do every year before backtracking.
Meanwhile Dixon’s recently disappointing beast is getting smashed off the boards. Quick return to the action as the last horses load, to see it dot up…gamble landed while no-one was looking!

October 27, 2010 at 18:10 #324936Glenn, do you want to answer my question on the Richard Hills thread rather than bottle it, after your unnecessary insults?
Which question was that? The one where you say you thought you were allowed to say what you like against a man worshiped by millions?
Blasphemy is still a crime in certain parts of these islands you realise. You’re on very thin ice.

October 27, 2010 at 18:46 #324946October 27, 2010 at 19:03 #324950Matthew , could you try not to hi jack a fairly serious thread with your puerile views on Richard Hills
For once could you play the game and just shut up or are you going to start another thread about your latest bus journey , because frankly its becoming very tiresome and irritating
thanks
Ricky

October 27, 2010 at 19:18 #324953Any news from the trenches? My main man Paul Struthers promised to keep us up to speed.
Does anyone know if Roy’s working week has even started yet? Maybe he doesn’t usually stroll into Rabble HQ until Thursday, so hasn’t even had proper chance to hand in his resignation!
