Glen Forsa looks to deserve his place at the head of the market here, very nice performance at Kempton.
It’s another who really interests me though, and it’s Cubomania. Already won at Cheltenham this season, and he’s on a perfect mark here.
We’ve all heard it said that “if a horse was from a different yard, he’d be half the price”, well I think that if this Elliot horse was with Gigginstown, then he’d be half the price.
Already a winner at the track this season, has the speed to have also won on the flat a couple of weeks before. Would have made the frame in The Drinmore as well, but for tipping up two out. That run was eyecatching, and his run last time, was “interesting” to say the least.
Out in ten minutes at Fairyhouse, and a run into a place will see me put some more on, but for now, the 33’s is huge.
One of my biggest fancies for The Festival.

January 12, 2019 at 17:42 #1392331A most interesting ride last time right enough, Bobby. Looks a nice spot by you yet again. Any idea what the best NRNB price is before I go hunting?

January 12, 2019 at 23:03 #1392349Would Cubomania’s rating not be too high for this assuming 145 is still the ceiling? When he won at Cheltenham he was 143, so assume the English handicapper would have him up at +7 to 150. Monbeg Legend who he beat by close to 3 lengths has been dropped 2 lb to 145, so even on that form Cubomania would be 147/148 and that’s before today’s performance.
I’m a Glen Forsa fan. Form is being franked left, right and centre. Will be interesting to see whether connections try and protect his mark for this or run him again.
January 12, 2019 at 23:29 #1392352I think he’ll be in the Plate. His rating, as BG suggests, will be too high for this
January 13, 2019 at 06:22 #1392355On the Racing Post website it states his OR as being 139 not 143.
January 13, 2019 at 09:37 #1392370Been looking for one for this race and followed you in @ 33’s VTC. Very nice price, thought it would of been half that
January 13, 2019 at 09:43 #1392371I’m no doing anymore for now Botch.
I didn’t get the run into a place that I was wanting yesterday, he just got beat. I was looking for a “ran into third” lol, and he’ll def go up for that FFS.
I’ll bet him wherever he ends up though st Cheltenham, and Marks shout might be the one.
Still declared to run today, so could do with him getting stuffed, and at Leapordstown next month lol
January 13, 2019 at 10:22 #1392375Every other site has Cubomania running off 134 at Cheltenham so probably a mistake in the RP.

January 13, 2019 at 10:58 #1392378Swingbridge ran at Ayr off 131 in November, then several days later off 124 in Ireland and his official rating is given as 123.
I think the OR on the RP website is the Irish mark, not the British.
January 13, 2019 at 11:47 #1392380You are right Mark, he got a UK figure of 147 that day. Pretty certain like, that that will need to be revised, otherwise he will be in the 155 region which is bonkers.
January 13, 2019 at 14:01 #1392386Yes – they seem to have overrated him prior to that race, which wasn’t a handicap, and the RPR Of 147 suggests he ran to a mark in the low 140s at best, as the RPR for a good performance is almost always higher than the Official Rating.
The proximity of Monbeg Legend, 147, might be an issue for his British rating. That 147 was achieved after a few low grade wins during the summer – if Monbeg Legend ran in a winter handicap off that mark, he’d get absolutely stuffed.
January 13, 2019 at 20:11 #1392415I might have unintentionally confused matters. What does the Offical Rating on the Racing Post website for a horse trained in Ireland represent? the British Handicapper’s rating or the Irish Handicapper’s rating?
January 13, 2019 at 20:37 #1392421As I said above, I think it’s the Irish; Cubomania and other Irish horses aren’t listed on the BHA website so how would the RP know their official rating ?
Also, by checking with other Irish trained horses as I did with Swingbridge, you can see the difference in ratings and that the OR reflects the Irish mark.
January 13, 2019 at 22:39 #1392433What does the Offical Rating on the Racing Post website for a horse trained in Ireland represent? the British Handicapper’s rating or the Irish Handicapper’s rating?
CNC, yes it looks like Mark is correct. I tried to look into it this morning and found the solution.
In this instance. Try to look for Cubomania on the BHA website to find it’s UK rating. Unfortunately it does not exist
Then try again with Monberg Legend, but that does not exist either
Then try Graasten who finished third that day. He shows up Then you need to click on Graasten and find the race Cubomania ran in. Then click on Cubomania
Then voila https://www.britishhorseracing.com/racing/horses/horse/#!/2350279
Bit of a nightmare if there are a few Irish runners like. But it is only 2019, what do you expect
January 14, 2019 at 00:34 #1392449That needs reporting – It’s ridiculous that you can’t search for him by name and that his rating isn’t visible.
As for Cubomania and this race – seems like the BHA have dropped Monbeg Legend to 145 but the Elliott horse’s rating has been raised in Ireland…it’s unlikely then that the BHA have Cubomania on anything less than 147, which would be excessive.
