Grade 2 on tomorrow in Clonmel worth 75,000€.

Douvan, Footpad & Great Field, Shattered Love, Jett, Balko Des Flos, Alpha Des Obeaux and Monalee all entered; final decs due soon. One or two of them might come out you’d imagine.

No footpad but douvan and monalee declared

Looks like a cracking little race

    Very interesting race.
Ruby said of Douvan lately – who knows how much of his talent remains?
But I think they kept him in gentle work all summer so he is probably as fit as they “dare” get him.
I’d reckon as well they have probably binned any idea of priming him perfectly for Cheltenham and will just run him whenever and wherever as long as he’s sound and the ground is safe, on the basis that what will be, will be. He has gone lame despite cotton wool wrapping before so no point in that and it’s not as if they are saving him for next year.
I hope he wins this and goes for the King George so we get the Altior/Douvan face off – nearly three years and one mile later later than scheduled ;-)
(Yes I know they ran against each other but Giraffe Legs ruined it by falling on his face).

I would like to see Monalee win. He was my idea of last season’s Ryanair winner but he had a disappointing campaign on the whole. He has questions to answer now but I have not given up on him just yet!

Can’t see Douvan going for the KG; he’ll never be the horse he was before, so they’ll be happy picking up a few Grade 2s

Couldn’t possibly have a bet in this, too tight for me.

Decent race though, but one just to enjoy.

Can only think of two possible outcomes for Douvan:
    A. He either wins the race in style or at least comes very close to winning it.
    or
    B. He runs no sort of race and might even be retired.
Right now the 13/8 about him are quite tempting.

Will douvan even stay 2m4f on soft to heavy ground?

I’m gonna give tout est permis one last chance I think with a cover on Jett in the without monalee market

    At 4/1 and 13/2

Mullins preview wouldn’t fill you full of confidence but he doesn’t need to be anywhere near his best to win this. He’s getting 5 lb off Monalee and Monalee is probably a 160 horse. With the allowance Douvan can compete here even if he’s 20 lbs off his best. Was kept in light work during the summer so he should be fit enough. Gonna back Douvan or old time sake.

Douvan now at 5/4 has to be one of the lays of the year. Cannot believe it’s favourite let alone 5/4. Waiting for it to win in the bridle now haha

Okay, engine and enthusiasm 100% there.
    Jumping also 100%, but 100% crap……
No reason why he shouldn’t go for the Ryanair

Douvan won but some nervous moments for backers, clattered 2 or 3 fences

Does he have some back or pelvic issues? The way he leaves his hind legs in the fence looks very strange. He didn’t take off too early, but at some fences he looked a bit stiff behind when landing.
Still a 9 year old and plenty of mileage left in the galopping tank.
As far as his jumping goes, not even chasing material.

Bit harsh ruby lol, has won 10/13 chase starts, only ever fallen once, hasnt always been the most “fluent” jumper, but does he need to be? His record speaks for itself… he finds a way to stand up, hasnt had many chase starts since he injured his pelvis in the CC, so probably just naturally being cautious, that will go away, doubt willie had him jumping any fences at home atall. has had the best part of 600 days away from the races lol

ryanair bound if chacun stays right, had a half decent bet today on him, unfortunately had a pitiful amount on him for the ryanair before today, after hovering over the bet button last night @33/1 i thought id see how today went first…. costly error.

Are you on Bet 365, ham? They let you cash in any time. Best thing to do is to back them on Bet365 ante-post for Cheltenham before they run and if they run a stinker just cash in your bet. Adopted that policy with Andy Dufresne, Envoi Allen & Douvan so far. Have also done a few on 365 who haven’t run yet (Laurina, Lamerckise, Sharjah, Saldier) all at big prices who I can just cash in if they disappoint. Bet365 is great for a good ante-post flutter
