I’m kind of at the point where I don’t feel like contributing to this forum anymore. Been on here for a few years but I comment less and less on here because I rarely get a response from anyone and for the most part just ignore and another topic of conversation is started after a post of mine. Just so many cliques on here. It’s the same people replying to the same people constantly. You may aswell close the memberships down and not let anyone else join because it’s not worth it. I still enjoy what other people post don’t get me wrong and I will continue to read what people put but I won’t bother contributing anymore as there really is no point as I’m not in the cliques.

Im not Even expecting a reply to this to be honest based on my experience of this forum but I just thought I would share my feelings as I would love to see this forum grow but I can only imagine other people who are new or not part of the cliques get ignored aswell. I’m not new by the way I’ve been contributing for 4/5 years now just contribute less and less now

A shame to read that Jasolong
I’m sure you are right that cliques are part of the forum although that is the way the world revolves. I think TRF is quite a welcoming platform on the whole and any newbie gets a fair crack of the whip. My advice would be to persevere with your posts and opinions, sometimes you need a thick skin, many a time I’ve felt like I’m posting to myself and nobody is responding but people are still reading and getting enjoyment from the different opinions even if they don’t respond.

Steve Caution posted a Forum cliques thread about 6 years or so ago saying similar, there were some good posts on that thread but unfortunately I can only find Steve’s opening post on the subject.

I’m pretty new here and just wondered if this is a “Clique” website? It seems to have a lot of registered members but not a lot of posters. The conversation seems to be mainly between people who clearly know each other already.

Not sure if it’s the right type of forum for me. Fart in Spacesuit, if you know what I mean.

    Any input gratefully appreciated.

Anyway, Steve turned out to be a bit of a Godfather to the forum, a marmite one at that but a TRF legend nonetheless.

I’m sure it’s the same for the majority of us starting out on forums.
I know you have been here 4/5 years and I had a brisk look at the topics you started which had a few non responses but some threads had plenty of response Jasolong.

Thanks for the response Nathan and the advice. I will take it onboard and may post in the future if I feel the need. And yes I feel newbies are welcomed in the most part but after that it’s back to the same voices over and over responding to only each other. There’s an air of arrogance aswell as if only the cliques opinion matters and they ‘know it all’. Perhaps I’m reading into this too much. I just wanted to share my views in the hope that not just me but others in a similar position to me would be given more time of day. Like I said I won’t be posting much but I’m not the only one.

Come and join in the competitions section Jasolong, if that’s your thing, and have a bit of fun, also will help get to know more of us that way.

I love my horses and racing and there are some really nice people on here with a great all round knowledge of racing and some fanatical about certain horses, so we seem to bond in that respect.

Being a flat fan I hardly post any opinions on NH racing but I certainly follow the competitions and read all the Big Race Discussions they help get me through to The Craven Meeting ;-)

As Nathan said Steve Caution posted a similar thing about this subject and he was a serial poster on here. I think more voices are heard now he has gone but his knowledge of racing was spot on.

Everyone has something to contribute and not all posts get a huge response but at least, like here, you can get your point across.

Look forward to seing more of your posts within the Forum Jasolong and perhaps in the competition section on Saturdays
Hope to see you there soon.

You got a fair rise out of everyone on the CH thread last season lol, cant blame people for wanting to swerve a discussion if they feel like its going to turn into an arguement… think jack took the brunt of it on that thread towards the end of it.

I actually disagree with the whole thread, the idea of forum cliques lol seems a bit, silly to me, just post what you want, some will answer some wont, doesnt really matter does it.

What post are you referring to thats been ignored, cant see it myself? Ive flicked through your last 20/30 posts…

And before you say it, im not part of any “clique” i know no one personally on here, have never spoken to anyone privately on here and generally just post whatever wether its answered or not lol

Jasolong, I’m guessing it’s Jason? I know no one on here, not one solitary person. I don’t want too actually ‘know’ anyone here either. Sod that, they might murder me, or something even worse.

This is the internet, none of it is real life. Stick your chest out, and tell ‘them’ what you want them to hear, if ‘they’ don’t listen, shout louder. If that does not work, make fun of them.

    Works for me mate.

The only clique I’ve seen on here (I’ve not been here long), is Steve and Ginge’s on off love affair saga. That was much better than Eastenders, so like life, these things have their good and bad sides. You have to take the highs with the lows. Chin up mate, it might never actually happen x.

An interesting fact for you, which might turn that frown upside down.

Hi Jasolong, I know what you mean. I’ve tried posting topics on here in the past but was largely ignored.

You've got to accentuate the positive.
    Eliminate the negative.
    Latch on to the affirmative.
Don't mess with mister in between.

Jaso, i have to admit i haven’t really noticed this- was your long break from posting due to the fact you don’t follow the flat or because of this?

As Ham has already said, i remember sharing a few posts + replies with you back then. I couldn’t give a monkeys who i am replying to- i would take a look back at some of your posts though, and you might not have painted a great picture of yourself, perhaps that’s why?

I’m going too start an internet clinic I think. Uncle Nausered will sort out all of your internet ‘worries’, for a ‘small’ fee. It’s great too talk about stuff like this out in the open. I come from South London, my father ran a large scaffolding company whilst I grew up. I then ran a plastering firm for fifteen years. In that environment, big hairy blokes, you’re just told too ‘man the **** up’. But this is 2018 and the internet, and everyone has feelings. So I’m starting a new clinic. PM me for details and great opening deals.

You gotta laugh, or you’ll cry, it’s life. I was 45 last week, I have more hair growing out of my nose and ears than on my bald head these days. I try not too let it get me down though.

Man up snowflakes, and I mean that in the most heartfelt way that you could ever imagine. I’m even sending out roses, look :rose: :rose: :rose:

only clique I’ve seen on here (I’ve not been here long), is Steve and Ginge’s on off love affair saga.

In the end it took me
    a dictionary
    to find out the meaning
    of unrequi-ted.
    For I lied to myself
    with his rambling
    you see.
    I lied to myself
    ’bout the chances I was-ted.

Am sorry you feel this way, Jasolong, of course everyone will have favourites but I don’t see this clique thing. Like most on here, I will respond to anyone that writes an interesting thread or post that I see (sometimes I don’t notice them) – and have responded to threads and posts of yours. Hope you carry on posting/reading but wish you well whether you do or don’t.

:good: :good: :good: That’s the spirit Ginge, F em all is my motto. :yahoo:

Real world problems, far outweigh hurt feelings on the internet. It was my birthday on Friday, my mum had a test to determine if she has the big C or not. Crap birthday, I tried to immerse myself in Cheltenham too forget about it a bit until we find out the results.

If someone replies to me or not on here, well, I don’t really give a flying F to be honest. I’m a ‘higher being’, they should be grateful I’m talking to them in the first place lol. That’s how you need too be on the internet, thick skinned. You can’t let shizzle grind you down.

RedRum, next time some one ignores you on here, launch into a verbal tirade against them. Use big swear words. Sometimes it’s very satisfying indeed. Bet they don’t ignore you again, if they do…. F em.

    Keep smiling people.

    Be careful Naus’.

There was a time thought I knew it all, I was so wrong.
    Then again…
    Now – of course – I know I know it all. B-)

    @Nausered
All good wishes to your mum. My husband goes for his 2 year check up next week and it does help to immerse yourself in the racing or something to get through it.

Wouldn’t advocate the big swearing sessions though as you might find yourself following Mr.Caution out of the back door and I don’t think that’s Rummys way, just log out and swear all you like ;-) and keep posting interesting Threads about your experiences back in the day, really enjoyed reading that and you haven’t lost your touch putting in the big winners, think it always stays with you.

    @Jasolong

Did look back at some of your replies and think just a bit OTT to some good thoughts from other posters.

 But, I’m the internet phycologist here Ginge, not you. Back off and find your own gig. ;-)

What I do have, is a very particular set of skills, skills that I have acquired over a very long internet based career. These skills, make me a nightmare for anyone who wants to talk about serious stuff Ginge like hurt feelings. I try to laugh. Laughter is the best medicine after all.

I suppose it’s a fact that many people won’t reply to a post unless they disagree, after all “Yeah, you’re right mate” hardly makes for a lively debate. Occasionally resulting arguments get heated and, while this is often interesting (and occasionally hilarious), it can ruin an otherwise useful thread by putting off other posters. Some may be dissuaded from posting a counter view at all because they fear getting embroiled in that kind of row (or just don’t have the time).

Generally, I don’t find the Forum particularly cliquey, though it’s clear that some people know each other well. Maybe it depends which sections you post in (I admit there are some that I rarely view at all). Triptych’s right about the Competitions section being a good source of friendly banter.

So what HAS happened to Steve Caution?
