    Just had it confirmed by his owner/trainer that Classic Role (GB) suffered a broken back when taking a horrible fall at Wincanton on Boxing Day. He was a very versatile performer having won on the flat (turf and a/w), over hurdles, and fences. His connections are obviously devastated. Looking at his record out of 67 runs over nearly 7 years he only failed to complete 3 times – one pulled up (very early in his career) and two falls (the 2nd of which proved fatal). RIP Classic Role – you must have given your connections many memorable moments.

    Sorry to hear that – know the Wells horses had been under performing for a while a season or two back due to some persistent virus. Was pleased to see Classic Role had managed a Newbury chase win after all that. Sad that the end came so soon after.
