go native and starluck are very good horse , but i m afraid they will find nothing off the bridle in a stiffer track
the most likely winner at this stage is VLV
December 26, 2009 at 17:45 #265661Dont know if he’s finished but would not have a plugged nickle on this over hyped beast myself. Can see a lot worse bets than the 12’s currently available for Celestial Halo come March. Also the reigning champ at his current odds cant be bad value in a pretty open field.

"Pretty open field" = worst Champion Hurdle in years
December 26, 2009 at 18:10 #265665Yep, fair play to those that opposed Binny.
He surely cannot win a Champion on his from this season.
Go Native was just dossing in front….perfect for a Paul Carberry pyscho ride.

December 26, 2009 at 20:43 #265699the more i look at the champion hurdle all i see is zaynar being the only horse who could be something special over hurdles, the only problem will be can he lie up early on???
personally judged on is ascot run on good ground he travelled particuraly well but is jumping has to be spot on!!! soft ground would help slow the others down but even on good ground i just think zaynar has too much of an engine especially in the way he destroy cape tribulations who ran a good race in the xmas hurdle
the only problem i have with zaynar is that he has not raced over 2 miles against proper champion hurdlers personally i think they should go over to ireland and test him
i just think he is like brave inca but a better horse just a feeling i have!!!!
go native for me does not have the engine and will have to have the race run perfectly for him to win personally he is a place lay!!
December 26, 2009 at 20:52 #265703the only problem i have with zaynar is that……
……he’ll be a 5yo
December 26, 2009 at 21:05 #265710come on the 5 yr old stat is now a myth
2009 crack away 4th 5 yr old
binocular 3rd 5 yr old
celestial 2nd 5y old2008 punjabi 3rd 5 yr old
katchit 1st 5 yr oldthe only thing with at least 3 of these were they were hardened falt campigners where zaynar is still very lightly raced
i personally think its a better standard of horses when young are providing that the 5 yr stat is not to worry about but thats my opinion!!!
i really believe that zaynar is an absolute beast but time will tell if i am right

Binocular’s finished as a live Champion hope isn’t he ?
Well the horse has been working well and improved one helluva lot since Newcastle. Nicky as I said before the race loves to run them he to sharpen them up. He ran here beating Pierrot Lunaire and jumped awful that day. Almost everyone except myself said he wasn’t a Cheltenham horse and he damn near won the Supreme and the CH.
Binocular ran a similar race to what he did the last time here and was racing all the way round. He was going well enough but no where near as well as he can, like at Aintree or Ascot and this race was slower then the novice hurdle (Again)
Knowing the way Nicky trains them Binocular is far from out of the Champion Hurdle picture. I’ll behaving a fair lump on him ew at 10/1 or better if I can get it. Come Champion Hurdle day none of those two will beat him that’s for sure.

Not many are actually mature enough to win a Champion Hurdle BB that’s the problem. I don’t think he jumps well enough or fast enough to be honest. Could be with modern techniques and proteins they are maturing faster but I doubt it.
A big plus for Zaynar and Go Native is we know they act on the course the minus is can they act on it at Champion Hurdle pace? Punjabi, Celestial Halo and Binocular can and that’s a huge advantage to take into the race.
December 26, 2009 at 21:22 #265716I watched the ATR preview of this race with Luke Harvey interviewing AP McCoy and Mick Fitzgerald.
AP seemed less confident about Binocular’s ability than he did this time last year. He simply didn’t exude the bullishness of a man about to ride the "best" hurdler out there.
Personally, I simply cannot see Binocular winning the Champion Hurdle next year – or even the year after.

Head on over to Willy Hill’s then Fist 10/1 readily available. Good luck with that.

Having watched the re-run several times,i believe the horse to take out of the race for the Champion hurdle is Binocular,i dont believe the horse is anywhere near his peak yet!

Though I’ve never been Binocular’s biggest fan, it’s too early to be writing him off for the Champion Hurdle – how many made the same mistake with Punjabi last year?
I agree with Fist that today’s pace wasn’t great, and though Binocular’s won races off a steady pace before, they were hardly races he could have lost. All of his best performances have come off of a decent pace, and it’s easy to forget how good some of those performances were. With Celestial Halo in the field, there’ll be no danger of dawdling come the big one, and I’ll be surprised if Binocular finishes out of the first 3.December 26, 2009 at 23:02 #265735While I do think Binocular will reverse the form with Starluck in the Champion Hurdle, I have my doubts that he’ll overturn Go Native. He’s been beaten snugly by him twice now.

December 27, 2009 at 00:39 #265765To be honest no move in Zaynars price = VALUE.
Even the Rekeel looks strongish form now with how everyone slated it. (Even though it was eas too.
