But steve, why aren’t you a serious punter? after all you seem to do well. And why do you want to help keep people informed, is it because of a boost to your ego or some other reason? I would like to know. :good:

May be Steve just likes helping punters/TRFers, Judge. Don’t see why you need to question him.

Investing in smallish stakes for a considerable time is very wise, punters need to proove to themselves whether they can succeed before upping stakes. Punters can make a profit for years and then it all goes wrong when upping stakes. Shorter the time frame of small stakes the more likely a winning run was either just coincidence. Or at a time when in the right frame of mind to study correctly, analysis working out particularly well. Maintaining that good analysis over time is difficult – ie looking at races in exactly the same way. I found my stakes threshold and believe every punter has a stakes threshold where if they go over adversely affects their analysis and therefore their profit/loss. Or the markets might catch up with your edge/analysis and destroy your edge.

For any of the reasons above loads of punters enjoy their racing more with smallish stakes. They’re still “successful/serious punters”.

yeah but I don’t buy all this talk Ginger. Pretty much everytime Steve tips one ante-post it collapses in price and a great deal of them seem to win. He’s obviously a high class gambler. All this talk about building your bankroll over time misses the point here imo.

Don’t know what Steve’s motivation is and while in truth it’s none of my business, this is a forum and it’s fair enough that we should question it.

I mean I guess I got tired of all of these threads where Steve tips one up and it collapses in price and hoses up and then afterwards he plays the innocent, “My caution £2 managed to move the price…” etc.

    Pull the other one.

judge your obsession with ‘steve’ is becoming a bit worrying. One point I would like to say if ‘steve’ was charging and he had a rare bad run(as he did on flats entertainment ) early on,what would many have been saying then?
Let the man keep posting up his very helpful views without banging on about how much he bets.If he says he bets in tenners scores etc lets believe him
This is only my opinion mate and hope you take it the right way

I was accused by another poster that Steve was my “hero”

Believe me when I say I don’t have any heroes. However I do think I’ve learnt a fair bit from reading posters like Steve and Ginger about the betting game. So I appreciate that but maybe I appreciate honesty just as much.

I just don’t believe a poster when he is banging in winners left right and center that he’s betting pennies everytime.

Anyway you’re right I’ve gone on about it too much. Let’s see how the whole thing plays out. :good:

Invincible Army has already boosted Sands Of Mali by winning the Group 3 Sirenia Stakes at Kempton. I have therefore bet Invincible Army for the Mill Reef at 4/1. Gingertipster said that he had been disappointed in Invincible Army but perhaps he just met a really good sort in Sands Of Mali. Invincible Army actually broke the track record at Kempton last time and he looks Group 2 material at least.

No, you’ve interpreted what I said wrongly, Steve. Did not say Invincible Army has “disappointed” me at all. I think he’s done well and is a horse I like a lot. Just question his distance/surface requirements

    I said after the Gimcrack:

Been following Invincible Army this season, owes me quite a bit. I’m now wondering whether he quite gets 6f?

Won’t surprise me if we see him next in the Flying Childers or Cornwallis over 5f.

I didn’t know the horse beat the track record at Kempton, but that makes plenty of sense to me. Conditions there obviously conducive to favouring speed horses that day. Invincible Army travels so well at 6f he possibly needs fast conditions to stay 6f or alternatively needs an all weather surface to be able to quicken/show his best.

I just assumed you would have been disappointed that the horse owes you a bit. I’ll quote verbatim next time.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

No problem Steve, just thought I’d explain what my opinion of the horse was. :good:

Paddy Power have a book. First on the boards yet again.

It’s 2/1 Expert Eye and 3/1 Gustav Klimt. I’ve backed Expert Eye at 2/1. He’s said to be fine now after his minor setback. I’m not totally convinced by Gustav Klimt yet. The assumption was he would have won with a ton in hand last time but until it actually happens I prefer not to be too sure about anything.

Gustav may be the long term horse but Stoute’s colt looks the strongest of the 2YO’s at the moment to me.

    Full list is here:-

Take Me With You is in the Cheveley Park Stakes but trainer Jeremy Noseda confirmed that she goes for the Rockfel Stakes the previous day.

She was 12/1 for the Cheveley Park, so that is one potential danger to Different League out of the picture. I have stuck another bet on the French filly, as I feel sure she will be backed next week and 8/1 is a huge price for an Albany winner.

Jessica Harrington has said that Alpha Centauri could not deal with the ground in the Moyglare, stating that her filly was last to come off the bridle but just couldn’t pick up on the deep ground. The Fillies Mile will be her next race but only on better ground.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

I’ll be looking for an upset in at least one of the two year old races. The one that seems interesting to me is betty f, who could provide an upset. I know Jac was very keen on her. :good:

Jeremy Noseda must have changed his mind since last week then. Five days ago this was the headline:-

Unless there has been a setback, it makes you wonder whatever happened to the old fashioned notion of saying something, and then keeping your word.

The filly was well backed for the Rockfel as well.

I backed Nyaleti at 3/1 as she’s pretty solid and Gavota’s two wins have stunk the place out. Lighenting Quick could come forward a good bit but will need to.

I have Nyaleti 10 lbs top rated now and I priced her at 7/4, so had to snap 3/1.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Strange eh, wont back until final decs, if theirs an issue youd think he would say

I got the 10/1 about butterscotch yesterday before it collapsed after september wasnt declared, not confident of the win but can see her going off shorter than 4/1 again, will either lay or let it run depending on how much the price goes down/up

I must admit I generally don’t lay horses but would be very confident of collecting if I laid Nyaleti, don’t rate her at all.

I think O’Brien has missed a trick here not running Clemmie in the Rockfel
agree with Steve in that in an ideal world you don’t want to jump up to a mile from 6f and this race looks or would have looked perfect with to fill that gap.

I have backed Betty F each way at 16/1 for this but looking at the field closely and in view of the ground I think that Threading currently around 4/1 is the class filly here and will take all the beating.

We’re having a lot of rainfall tonight here on the Essex/Suffolk Border and although the weather is set fair for tomorrow more rain is forecast for Friday so the ground could be riding Good/Soft on Saturday, which might mean Betty F could well be a non runner.

Strange that Frankie Dettori was booked to ride her after her gallop down the Rowley Mile last week and now Pat Smullen is aboard, would have liked to see her ridden by Mosse again as he gave her such a good ride last time on the July Course.

Noseda is hopeful that his Frankel filly Betty F will emulate Carry On Katie who won this in 2003 after winning her maiden and having a pre race gallop down the July Course, but the weather might rule her out.. She is definitely the ‘dark horse’ in the race with no one knowing how much she has improved since her last run.

    Threading 4/1 – WIN
    Betty F 16/1 Each Way

    Good luck
    Jac :rose:

PS…Enjoy your racing judge and stop worrying so much  Jac
