Normally I like unexposed types in these sort of races but none of them impress me. I think NEBO is not the type to train on and make a great three year old as he’s on the small side but he’s a terrier like type who’s been unlucky to run into some smart sorts on his last two runs. I think he might worry them out of it in the final furlong. Invincible Army is also interesting as think five furlongs would not be his cup of tea last time.
Hopefully I won’t change my mind again and end up backing something else and NEBO wins
August 25, 2017 at 15:16 #1315570I agree judge Similar type to one of my earlier fancies in the week already rated 109, still unexposed to an extent i think he as a few lbs of improvement in him, i think hes a steal at 5/1
Will have a few £ on staxton e/w as i think hes overpriced, hey jonesy franked that form yesterday got him at 16/1
August 25, 2017 at 19:22 #1315640Cardsharp for me @ 7.8
August 25, 2017 at 20:29 #1315654I did Invincible Army at 6/1 here.
He went down to Havana Grey last time but that’s a speedy colt who finished runner up in the Group 1 Morny last time, finishing ahead of Albany winner Different League in the process.
Headway looks poor value to me. He was runner up in the Coventry but that race has failed to convince going forward. You need to use the ground to excuse Headway last time but I never really trust Haggas at the higher levels of racing. He seems to get a nosebleed when there is the word “Group” in race listing.
Nebo has bits of form but he was below par in that Coventry race.
Cardsharp has some good form but it’s Mark Johnston at York again and he carries a 3 lbs penalty here.
Frozen Angel hasn’t gone on as some anticipated after his second start.
Staxton represents Tim Easterby and he’s had happy times this week. Maybe an each-way shout here at 12/1. Hey Jonesy ran well when 3rd in the valuable race earlier this week and Saxton’s only defeat came behind him.
I can’t believe they are running De Bruyne Horse again. He was down the field in that Hey Jonesy race and this will be his ninth start since May.
Invincible Army for me at 6/1 and Staxton Each-way at 12/1 are my ideas of the value.
Well done with Talaayeb earlier Judge, she was awful in Listed company last time but bounced back today.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
August 25, 2017 at 20:51 #1315663Yeah cheers Steve mate, got my guineas losses back and then some

totally agree with the johnston thing, don’t totally trust his horses at York. I know some will point to that maiden winner earlier but that was a full brother to Al Wukair, something I only realised after the race. Interesting one going forward that.
Must admit haven’t had a bet yet on this so might well follow you in on invincible army, I know I said I wouldn’t change my mind (I change my mind all the time) but not really confident in anything here, they are all about the same ability. Totally different to threading race where I was very bullish about her but for some inexplicable reason changed my mind.

Follow the master Steve is never bad advice
August 25, 2017 at 20:55 #1315667Yeah well done with Talayeb Judge

Great minds and all that I too am on NEBO at 5/1
The other one I like is Frozen Angel who has bumped into some pretty good horses on all his last four runs and is a bit more than a saver at 9/1.
Good Luck Guys
August 25, 2017 at 21:58 #1315682I did Invincible Army at 6/1 here.
He went down to Havana Grey last time but that’s a speedy colt who finished runner up in the Group 1 Morny last time, finishing ahead of Albany winner Different League in the process.
Invincible Army for me at 6/1 my ideas of the value.
My idea too Steve.
Taken 7/1.
Value Is EverythingAugust 26, 2017 at 11:20 #1315795Had to have a go in this even though it is really open. Blue Point was a good thing last year but nothing stands out quite like him this time.
I will give Headway another chance, I was expecting a little bit of a drift in his price this morning (couldn’t take 7/2 on offer last night) and I have given him some money at 9/2. Proper soft ground at Goodwood was a genuine reason why he failed to deliver. Did the ride Pat Cosgrave give him help? I’m not sure.
Nebo and Cardsharp were ahead of him that day and they both had previous winning form with soft in the description. Headway was 4 lengths in front of Nebo at Royal Ascot so this better ground can see a reversal in placings.Invincible Army weakened out of it when beaten by Cardsharp at Newmarket and even a 3lb pull with another run under his belt doesn’t convince me he can reverse that form.
I’ve added a couple of outsiders to my slip with Stormbringer (20/1) and Noblemans Nest (14/1) coming into this off commanding but not sparkling victories at a lower level. This will only be there 3rd race though and in such an open event a small tickle on these won’t do much harm to my wallet.
Good luck errbody
August 26, 2017 at 11:36 #1315805I’m a big Headway fan. I think this is a serious horse and will forgive him his last run.
August 26, 2017 at 13:55 #1315850Cardsharp at 7s is an easy bet for me.
Might not win but the value bet IMO.August 26, 2017 at 15:03 #1315864Destroyed them. Sands of Mali.
August 26, 2017 at 15:26 #1315866Invincible Army ran well but bumped into a big improver.
I was against Sands Of Mali because he had won on bad ground last time but he coped admirably.
Oh well, picked the correct one from the exposed horses but got done in by an up and comer. Always a tough game this horse racing.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
August 26, 2017 at 16:13 #1315873Been following Invincible Army this season, owes me quite a bit. I’m now wondering whether he quite gets 6f?
Won’t surprise me if we see him next in the Flying Childers or Cornwallis over 5f.
Value Is EverythingAugust 26, 2017 at 21:15 #1315906Nebo didn’t do a lot for Gustav Klimt there.
The only winner from the O’Brien horse’s last win was a nose success in a handicap off 83.
Frozen Angel was poor today and maybe has had a busy enough campaign.
Invincible Army maybe just ran into one today. He made good headway but was left behind in the closing stages. If you took the winner out and analysed the rest of the race, you would say the form horses were there and it’s pretty much gone to plan. Might be worth keeping an eye on Sands Of Mali.
Ribchester was runner up in the Gimcrack before going on to win the Mill Reef and it’s possible today’s winner may go there or perhaps fly even higher in the Middle Park, with nothing obvious to fear at this stage.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
August 26, 2017 at 23:43 #1315916Absolutely horrendous day today, just everything I picked didn’t even come close. Only winner I had was some johnston runner at goodwood.
I actually ended up backing cardsharp in this race. But I wouldn’t have got the winner. (Ul steve and ginge with Invincible army btw.) Today makes me realise how important the ground is in picking winners. Intellect got practically lapped after looking a bit of a monster on soft ground. for example.
Then just saw two fights in newcastle to round off the day, but what do you expect!
August 28, 2017 at 21:46 #1316087Sands Of Mali went up 26 lbs to 113 with the Racing Post Ratings, his Topspeed figure for the Gimcrack was 100, with his previous best being 49. That’s no mean feat. Does Sheikh Mo have Fahey’s mobile number

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
