Nothing’s certain in this game, is it? Fair along was 30lbs well in, on the basis of his best NH rating, and was beaten into second.
The ones I fear most are Plymouth Rock and Admiral Barry.
May 3, 2011 at 19:28 #353578aye they made the shortlist
funny race this year given the high OR of the bottom weight
May 3, 2011 at 19:56 #353584Anyone else fancy Channon’s Montaff? Had a small bet on him tonite, after picking up £140 on him at Ripon the other week. Also had small wagers on Plymouth Rock, Halla San and La Vecchia Scuola for tomorrow.
4 small bets and yet Chester is not one of my favourite racecourses to bet on – the draw bias is v telling here IMO. Not sure if that draw bias is so pronounced over 2 miles though.
May 3, 2011 at 21:15 #353591I am on DARLEY SUN as well i hope he wins had 6 2nd places today shocking luck today
May 3, 2011 at 22:09 #353605Keeping it simple. Mamlook to win again. 12/1 is way to big!
Good luck all!

May 4, 2011 at 10:05 #353668Red Cadeaux was badly hampered in the race last year but has got a good draw today. However, 6/1 isn’t my sort of price and my computer is running so slow today I can’t look at the race properly.
May 4, 2011 at 12:52 #353705Delighted that
Mystery Star
has made the race – not so happy with stall 16. Will love the ground and looked a very smart handicapper in 2009. Back in the winning groove on AW last year, but looks up against from a poor draw.
Admiral Barry
is a helluva lot better than his Cesarewitch effort and was most progressive last year. Has a nice perch in stall 4, has form on fast ground and has the assistance of Johnny Murtagh.
May 4, 2011 at 14:02 #353717Excellent performance from Overturn.
Really good ride from Eddie Ahern.
May 4, 2011 at 14:14 #35372250/1 Together – narrowly touched off in the Guineas.
50/1 Mystery Star – fine third in Chester Cup.
That’s how I roll.
May 4, 2011 at 23:45 #353821You feel so grateful to a horse as willing as that, when it wins for you.
I was in stitches hearing the various commentators repeating what I’d said: "What a marvellous horse!", having more than a vague suspicion they’d had a few baubies on him as well.

Lovely way to win dosh if you were on – he just would not capitulate and scampered around those turns like a greyhound.

May 5, 2011 at 00:30 #353831Is no-one gonna say it? No? Ok, fine, I will.
The jockeys bar Ahern, Dickie Hills and Frankie should be ashamed of themselves. Utterly embarrassing. Overturn effectively became a 6/4 shot when they finished half a lap. People slate Richard Hills but at least he understands about pace in a race. Dettori tried to do it too but couldn’t go with them.

Fair enough he might’ve had the cop on not to let Ahern steal a big lead but when he was hanging on overturnss cloaktails, seemingly travelling better than overturn,i never had a seconds worry because i was that confident if Ahern had any horse under him at all he’d hold off Hills-he’s that weak in a finish!
