I’ll be posting up my Cheltenham analysis for the four days of the festival.
Tuesday at Cheltenham
2.00 Cheltenham- The Supreme Novices’ Hurdle
Leading Fancies: Amaretto Rose, De Soto, Tipperary All Star.
Selections: Tipperary All Star each-way (22/1 Betfair), De Soto each-way (19/1 Betfair).
A fascinating renewal of a race that never lets me down in terms of sheer excitement. As usual, there are any number of fancied horses in the line up, and there’s really no such thing as “wordâ€ÂÂ
March 12, 2007 at 18:26 #70709I only agree with you on one race (champion hurdle) but excellent analysis none the less. Nothing worse than busting your guts to write pages of analysis and have everyone read it and bugger off to another thread.

March 13, 2007 at 00:46 #707132.00 Tipperary Allstar
2.35 Buena Vista
4.00 Commercial Flyer (Lord Sam ew)
5.20 Jayo.
March 13, 2007 at 01:33 #70714New Alco carries very strong ew confidence in the William Hill. Has an abudance of course form, was unsuited by the bypassed fences and drop in trip last time. Doesn’t look as well handicapped on form at Commercial Flyer and Distant Thunder but far less likely to fail to give his running than that pair. Fill your boots at 9/1 ew. That will be my main bet.
March 13, 2007 at 01:45 #70715Despite three hours of burning the midnight oil, I am still no wiser as to the winners of any Cheltenham races. They all look winners to me – which is the major issue
with this meeting, more so than any other.
I think Afsoun is overpriced in the Champion, (I keep coming back to the Kingwell, so I’ll probably ignore the obvious and dutch the first two from that). ÂÂÂ
However, I’ve seen Detroit City three times live and he’s an admirable battler. He won’t go down without a battle. I have a seriously terrible record with Hobbs horses though; if you’re planning to lay him large, just send me a PM, I’ll back him and we’ll come to an arrangement.
So it’s Afsoun and Straw Bear for me at good odds.
Best of luck!

March 13, 2007 at 09:38 #70716Excellent stuff dandan & much appreciated. I’ll be watching and enjoying most of the races at Cheltenham without betting on them but I agree with your comments on the Champion Hurdle and have backed Hardy Eustace to win. Asian Maze looks the best of the longer priced horses – this year’s race may become more of a stamina test than usual which could suit her.
I think Amaretto Rose will go close in the first – been impressed a lot so far with this horse and the ground will be no worry. No value now but somebody on this forum ( I’m hopeless at remembering names ) has backed her a/p at double figures.
I’m looking forward to watching Fair Along run – looks a natural over fences and may win.
Good luck to everybody at the Cheltenham festival which is the best sporting event in the world in my opinion ( an opinion shared by the highly respected journalist Ian Wooldridge who sadly died recently ).
March 13, 2007 at 10:08 #70717My bets:
Tyson e/w
Fair Along Win
Detroit City: Win
Juveigneur: Place (always seems to find one too good but I can;t see him finishing out of the frame)
Fingers crossed…. I wish I wasn’t working!!!
