Salisbury midweek afternoon is invariably a good call – great recommendations in that department from Alan, there.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"April 14, 2022 at 12:40 #1593647It’s a crying shame that ordinary racegoers are put off going to the big meetings but that seems the way racecourses want it.
For years I’ve been on the county stand roof for Grand National day and it was a lovely spot away from the madness below.
Then Aintree scrapped the no drinks rule up there so now it’s a very unpleasant place to be and my wife and I left vowing never to go back up there again especially at £147 each next year.
So it’s £80 to stay by the parade ring all day or stay at home from now on.
Cheltenham would have been an absolute pleasure yesterday.April 14, 2022 at 12:54 #1593654“Then Aintree scrapped the no drinks rule.”
Cheltenham yesterday was quite strict about where you could take drinks. I think that is a good thing. Drink should not be by the paddock or in the stands.
April 14, 2022 at 17:39 #1593677I am old enough to remember when most racecourses never use to allow drinks in the grandstand (probably the 90s?)
It then just got too difficult for the stewards/racecourses to police and they just gave up.
