GDC is going to have to underperform or fall to lose now – Fact To File and Banbridge are now the only two under double figures in the betting, 3m clearly looks to be Fact To File’s upper limit and the same might also be said for Banbridge who is also very ground dependant, so going 3m2f is highly unlikely if the ground comes up soft (which it has for the last two years).
The race is quickly falling apart and one can only hope that maybe Il Est Francais gets redirected to the race (especially if Fact To File goes to the Ryanair) as seeing him taking off in front like he did in the King George with GDC sitting on his tail could make for an interesting race – L’Homme Presse you would imagine will also show up but he is quoted at anything from 14s to 25s but I am not sure an end to end gallop over 3m2½F up that hill is his optimum conditions either.
I think Grangeclare West (between 14s/16s) is a decent bet for a place as he was doing all his best work at the end of Saturday’s race and you could see another 2½F really suiting him.
February 3, 2025 at 20:19 #1719773Looks to be a really good time, right now, to punt an outsider each way. The places look wide open, quite frankly.
February 3, 2025 at 21:22 #1719779Fact To File probably runs in the Ryanair.
Banbridge will probably run here – if at all. If Soft or Heavy won’t run in anything… And Stamina?
Corbetts Cross at this level probably needs Soft or Heavy for his stamina / inferior jumping style.
Grangeclare West did a PB out of the blue in the Irish Gold Cup, but has stamina to prove and fragile.
Grey Dawning probably won’t run unless GDC comes out.
The Real Whacker really isn’t good enough.
Embassy Gardens is an early season horse.
Hewick has lost his form since Shark’s ban.
Ahoy Senor has the class for a place, but probably not the mind.
Royale Pagaille is a one track pony – Haydock.
Gentlemansgame doesn’t like Cheltenham.
Jungle Boogie palpably didn’t stay last year.
Conflated is 11 now and age has caught up with him.FORECAST: Galopin Des Champs, L’Homme Presse, Monty’s Star.
Value Is EverythingFebruary 5, 2025 at 14:36 #1719849Fact To File now out to 15.5 for this.
Now 3.55 for the Ryanair.Value Is EverythingFebruary 15, 2025 at 14:44 #1720657Taken the 8’s on Bambridge today, think that may be the best I’ll get
Considering Conflated and Jungle Boogie EW, but as Hewick will only go with conditions to suit, I’ll take the 50’s just now
Banbridge 8’s NRNB
Hewick 50’s EW NRNBFebruary 16, 2025 at 08:52 #1720717…. This is going to be the worst GC in years , LHP going to pieces yesterday hardly helps
February 19, 2025 at 14:03 #1720878It’s the muggiest of mug bets for me with Ahoy Senor. I’ve got bits and pieces at treble figures on the exchange, but that’s been cancelled out by much bigger ante-post on Inothewayurthinkin
I’m really starting afresh then, and I’ll embarrass myself further by not even going ew with Ahoy Senor 80-1 non runner no bet
February 19, 2025 at 19:20 #1720897GDC is way ahead of everything else and just scares anything else off. Bar a fall or no show he wins.
I thought L’ Homme Presse each way at 40s seems a good shot if your willing to just forget the last run.
March 4, 2025 at 22:32 #1721886Gentlemansgame 66/1 each way
March 8, 2025 at 12:18 #1722128L’Homme Presse NOT declared for Friday. That dreadful run the other week, well he was actually pulled up, must’ve left its mark.
Loads of the Youtube racing channels had put him up for an each way punt over last 2 weeks, so hope the punters took the NRMB prices.
Fact To File not declared either – no surprise there.March 8, 2025 at 12:44 #1722133The main British challenger for the Blue Riband is now The Real Whacker, supported by Ahoy Senor and Royale Pagaille.
The race might as well be run at Leopardstown to cut down on the travelling.
March 8, 2025 at 14:01 #1722151We don’t have any staying chasers Cork bar Grey Dawning and Royal Pagaille for his one race a year he targets. Look at the Brown Advisory which will produce the next generation for the Gold Cup. Basically just an all Irish affair bar handicappers from Tizzard and Rebecca Curtis.
March 8, 2025 at 14:59 #1722163L’Homme Presse update:
Venetia Williams has revealed an interrupted preparation for L’Homme Presse was the reason he was taken out of the Boodles Cheltenham Gold Cup on Saturday. She said: “We’ve just had a little bit of a problem in the last two days, which means we’re not going to Cheltenham. He seems good today, but he’s missed a few days of work and it’s not the right preparation for the Gold Cup.
“All being well we’ll try and go to Aintree, where he could go for the Grand National.”
March 8, 2025 at 15:12 #1722167No quality from the UK and bar Banbridge a bunch of grade 2 level chasers from Ireland. A penalty kick for Galopin and a very mediocre Gold cup field.
March 8, 2025 at 18:33 #1722184Its a penalty kick on known ability I’d agree. To be fair there are a couple in here we probably haven’t got to the bottom of yet and Banbridge is unexposed at the trip so they are the unknown quantities. The ground could be a bit livelier than ideal for Galopin too. Plus we know historically how hard it is to win this thing 3 times. I haven’t delved into the record books to see how many tried but Al Boum Photo came up short recently. He was well below Galopin in pure ability I grant you.
March 9, 2025 at 12:30 #1722246The iknowhatyurthinkin inclusion thankfully makes the race more interesting , Cromwell seems bullish and that last run when he blatantly wasn’t put into the race makes him a strong contender , can be beat GDC … Hes a GD C clone and unlike a few there’s no can he stay question , he’s def the e.w play
March 10, 2025 at 07:37 #1722346My money is on Banbridge but with multiple entries (Ante Post) covered them all. In my opinion he’s earned his place in the race and is the alternative to the favourite.
You've got to accentuate the positive.
Eliminate the negative.
Latch on to the affirmative.
