Fingers crossed – Tues + Weds will define the meeting big time, a mountain to climb if Dunguib + Master Minded get turned over.
The bumper has been my lucky race, hopefully Araucaria will land a nice touch and Rite Of Passage stands to win me a tidy sum.Good luck to all you fellow punters. Tuesday is my day at home before I hit the cotswolds for the last three days. Have yet to make the journey down these last 5 years in a losing situation, long may it continue.

Incidentally, In Ireland with Cahsmans Cousin Vinny is currently 6/1 joint favourite with Crack Away Jack for the Arkle.
The thought of Cousin Vinny jumping fences scares me! 6/1 fav, No thanks!
Somersby
for me at 16/1!
Another one of those now legendary obsevations from the King of foresight, written on the 26th of August, however his hurdles form would see him playing a big role in the World hurdle!Just not too big hopefully!
February 19, 2010 at 21:55 #277933I hope you have him e/w
February 19, 2010 at 22:05 #277935I hope you have him e/w
I have a one horse book in the World hurdle and thats
Tidal Bay
thm,Cousin Vinnys hurdle form is second to none mind!
February 19, 2010 at 22:16 #277938Going to have bets tomorrow on horses that probably won’t even run at Cheltenham and they are Quiscover Fontaine in the Arkle and RSA and Me Voici in the Triumph. Only bets I’ve had so far are Tricky Trickster GC 66/1; Calgary Bay GC 100/1; Kangaroo Court Arkle 33/1 [still hoping the ground will dry up!]. Can’t see any value anywhere for my tiny ew bets. Added Won in the Dark 100/1 and my old friend Sublimity 22/1 for the CH H.Woolcombe Folly for the Arkle 33/1.Muirhead 100/1 Ch H.

You know i have backed Somersby e/w thm 25/1 down to 10/1! I am still as confident as ever,if he gets there and runs to his best he wins! Not every race is so easy to predict mind!

I wasn’t aware there was a without Captain Cee Bee market

Yep there will be when he falls 3 out mate!

You should hope so! By the time Somersby crosses the finish line Cee Bee will already be in watching the replay of himself in splendid isolation cantering up the hill!

and carlito brigante(although i nearly put go native in instead, just cant decide in the champion hurdle)February 21, 2010 at 08:49 #278192I’ve had £4 on Dr Whizz for the Supreme at 39s. The trends narrow it down to 5 horses, 1 of which is him. The Supreme is certainly not a race I’ll be getting massively involved in this year, hence only the £4
February 23, 2010 at 16:13 #278595Well, I’ll add my bets to date:
Arkle
Sizing Europe £10 @ 28
Captain Cee Bee £25 @ av odds £34Gold Cup
Big Bucks £5 @ 42
Denman £100 @ 8.8 (will prob trade this off)Ryanair
VPU £12 @ 9.2
Champion Hurdle
Binocular £50 E/W @ 7/1
Well I’ll update my list, never did lay Denman off but don’t fancy him one bit to beat Kauto so got to do something with that market. On top of the above I’ve had the following bets:
Arkle
Captain Cee Bee further £25 @ 22
Sizing Europe further £20 @ 9.8
Kangaroo Court £3 @ 130
Crack Away Jack £20 @ 10.5Champion Hurdle
Punjabi £25 E/W @ 14
Celetial Halo £20 E/W @ 16
Binocular further £10 @ 9.2Supreme Novices
Washington Irving £3 @ 25
General Miller £8 @ 25
Quantatativeeasing £2 @ 65Champion Chase
Forpadydeplasterer £10 @ 10.5
VPU £2 @ 120Royal Sun Alliance
Punchestowns £25 @ 5.2
Diamond Harry £15 @ 20
Mighty Man £2 @ 60World Hurdle
Tidal Bay £5 @ 90
Albert Bartlett
Tell Massini £10 @ 6.4
Triumph Hurdle
Alaivan £5 @ 15
According £5 @ 19.5Baring Bingh
Bobby Ewing £3 @ 36
So a bit of a mixed bag all round but very few lost bets so far
Further Update:
Arkle
Long Run £10 @ 24 (Serious horse and whilst he prob won’t run worth the cover for my CCB and SE bets)
Champion Hurdle
Khyber Kim £25 @ 12.5
RSA
Diamond Harry- Laid off what I had staked @ 8.8
Long Run- £50 @ 7.4World Hurdle
Tidal Bay further £5 @ 40 and further £10 @ 12
Baring Bingh
Peddlers Cross £10 @ 15
That’s my AP done now and i’m left with a bit of a mixed bag.
Very happy with my Arkle market and leaves me plenty of scope to play around with and put a couple of covers on if needs be.
My Champion Hurdle position is a bit of a mess (mainly due to Binny’s withdrawl) but then so is the race. I don’t have a particularly strong opinion on this race now and probably won’t touch it again.
Happy with my RSA market and as soon as NRNB comes in I will probably go in again on Long Run safe in the knowledge I have it covered should Punchestown or Diamond Harry take this (though I am very much against DH now).
Gold Cup- I should have laid off my Denman bet when I said I would. Still plenty of scope here though and what I do will probably depend on ground. I may just lay off my stake and let it run.
World Hurdle- Still reckon BB has this as good as in the bag, but considering my position I’ll leave as is and be cheering and old favourite of mine in Tidal Bay on nearly as loud as Gord will be. I am warming more and more to his chance and if BB hits a flat spot at the bottom of the hill and allows Tidal Bay to steal a march on him I would be very suprised to see him caught (but maybe that’s just wishful thinking).
Ryanair, Supreme Novices and Champion Chase bets are pretty much written off but hopefully I can get a run for my money and I don’t have any large liabilities. Hoping Alaivan can still give me a run in the Triumph and it’s not a race I regularly bet on so should provide some interest.
Still happy with my bets in the 2.5 and 3 mile novice races.
Looking forward now to NRNB to come in when I’ll probably stick on a few low stake multiples.
March 2, 2010 at 12:48 #280040As my two main ante post bets (Mille Chief and Pandorama) are now more or less worthless, I’ve decided to throw a bit of shyte at various walls to see what sticks.
Been into Billy Hills this morning;
£5 Treble
Advisor @ 12/1 – Triumph
Long Run @ 5/1 – RSA
Voler La Vedette @ 3/1 DN Mares£3 Treble
Tranquil Sea @ 5/1 – Ryanair
Restless Harry @ 7/1 – Alb Bart.
Theatrical Moment @ 12/1 – NH Chase£20 Acca
Dunguib @ 4/5 – Supreme
Garde Champetre @ 9/4 – X Country
Master Minded @ 4/6 – QMCC
Big Bucks @ 8/13 – World
Kauto Star @ 4/5 – Gold Cup£5 Double
Al Ferof @ 10/1 – Bumper
Sunnyhillboy @ 10/1 – Jewson£4 Double
Bensalem @ 7/1 – WHill
Spirit River @ 14/1 – Coral Cup£5 Double
Get Me Out Of Here @ 10/1 – Supreme
Tidal Bay @ 7/1 – World£8 Double
Sizing Europe @ 13/2 – Arkle
Rite Of Passage @ 3/1 – NeptuneTotal outlay – £50, so if any of the above come off, I’ll be up. However, I could do with a couple to cover the losses on Pandorama and Mille Chief – unless MC makes a miraculous recovery.
Cheers
March 4, 2010 at 19:11 #280436Would probably try and have around 90% of bets before the meeting starts so will topping these up when NRNB kicks in. The idea would be for one bet to cover the others and if a second comes in we are in profit. In no better than an average position at the moment. All bets are each way and I rarely take less than 8/1 ante-post.
Supreme: QUANTITATIVEEASING (20/1)
NR (0/5) – this is the race I would have targeted but on the Kempton run he would have had no chance.
Neptune: QUANTITATIVEEASING (14/1)
(1/5) – doubtful stayer and not good enough.
RSA: WEIRD AL (12/1)
(3/5) – very solid just a case of whether that will be good enough – would like to add Burton Port if confirmed.
Arkle: TATANIANO (33/1 & 20/1 – last April)
(2/5) – haven’t totally given up but Walsh will have to produce the ride of his career – Captain Cee Bee should win with a blemish free round but I can’t trust AP to produce one of those so will not be going in again.
Triumph – NOTUS DE LA TOUR (25/1)
(3/5) – open race – if he runs and the ground doesn’t dry up has as good a chance as any.
World Hurdle – W/O BIG BUCKS – TIDAL BAY (8/1) & TIME FOR RUPERT (10/1)
(3/5) Big Bucks will win – of the other two I am increasingly leaning towards Time For Rupert particularly after reading that Brian Harding was going be on Tidal Bay – hopefully that was a misprint
Bumper – UP OU THAT (14/1) & CUE CARD (33/1)
(3/5 & 1/5) – open race – the Weld pair are as short as Dunguib was which can’t be right – Up Ou That looks the part and should improve considerably racing on quicker ground – I should have waited to back Cue Card.
Champion Hurdle – Medermit (20/1)
(3/5) – solid chance in another open race.
Added a few more – handicaps have been very difficult as you have to be pretty exposed just to get in
Ryanair – POQUELIN (5/1)
(3/5) – clearly better chance if it dries up.
Albert Bartlett – TELL MASSINI (5/1 & 9/2)
(4/5) – most solid of the bets should go very close
William Hill Trophy – THE PACKAGE (10/1)
(2/5) – have my doubts about him getting in but obviously others don’t
Jewson – THE HOLLINWELL (12/1)
(2/5) – hopefully is a lot better than he has actually shown so far
Festival Bumper – CUE CARD (33/1)
(2/5) – couldn’t resist another go, bet looks a little better now I know he has been entered
RSA – BURTON PORT (25/1)
(2/5) – solid profile – keeping my fingers crossed AP doesn’t get offered the ride
